Humane Society of Boulder Valley The Humane Society of Boulder Valley promotes force-free animal training and discourages the use of pain, fear, or coercion to modify or manage animal behavior. Our team exclusively uses and teaches reward-based, positive reinforcement training techniques. Our goal is to provide pet guardians with training strategies that provide engaging, safe and effective interaction between pets and people. We rely on positive reinforcement for manners training and utilize force-free behavior modification and management strategies for dogs and cats in need of rehabilitation.
Services
Our talented team of animal trainers have obtained a variety of certifications and credentials through education based in scientific animal learning theory, with a keen understanding of operant (consequential) and classical (associative) conditioning. With an enthusiastic and compelling commitment to fun, engaging training sessions for you and your animal, you'll quickly understand why our team has a great reputation in the Boulder Valley and beyond!
Our Adoption Center services are available to assist drop-in visitors, and our hours are Monday through Friday, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Questions? Call us at: (303) 442-4030, or email: adoptions@boulderhumane.org. Once you have found the location for an animal, remove the entire sleeve from the front of that animal's kennel and bring it to the front desk. Before your adoption or meet, we may ask you to wait in the lobby or outside until staff and space become available.
Adoption services are available to drop-in clients, seven days a week: Monday through Friday, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. At this time, we can not place animals on hold over the phone, email or via social media request. HSBV offers adoption holds for available animals only after you have met with them.
The Humane Society of Boulder Valley occasionally meets cats that do not conform to behaviors of the average companion cat. Working cats are valued for their alert personalities and prey drive - or as we like to think of it - work ethic! The Barn Yard Buddy is often very social, but high energy and prey drive may prove challenging for a typical home environment.

I recently went to the Himane Society of Boulder and adopted a cat "Betty Boop". She is such a sweet cat and we all hee her playing around the house. She is very curious about everything in the house. The adoption process was not that hard. We did have to wait for an hour with adoption process because there two people ahead of us. Overall I highly recommend this place for adoption, if you were a pet lover.

We have had a wonderful experience at HSBV with our 16 year old cat Carla who sadly went into renal failure last week. They treated her with love and compassion, fluids, bloodwork, and even a care package of all kinds of new food for a renal-friendly diet. She is doing better and I think we have a little more time now, with our sweet girl. Thank you!

All my little guys are adopted from here. They are a wonderful!. They fully support you and your pet throughout the life of your pet. They even took in our fur babies when Louisville/Superior residents needed to evacuate. We could rest assured our babies were given the bust care possible. We are very fortunate to have this organization and the wonderful staff. that supports it!

Love this shelter. I have adopted 2 dogs from there now, and they are both the most amazing dogs I have had! The process is easy, and their facility is clean! The animals are certainly taken care of well.

I've never written a review before but had such a great experience at this shelter today that I feel like I need to. I just moved to the Boulder area and have been thinking of finding a furry friend. I've never had a dog before so I came in a little afraid of being judged for the crazy amount of dumb questions I probably had. They were insanely busy, but Melissa at the front desk was kind enough to take time and answer all my questions.

Although I wasn't able to find the right dog for me today, I feel 110% more confident and I know I'll be back! While walking through, all their animals looked so well taken care of, and even after just talking with Melissa, you can tell how much the staff there really cares for these animals. I can't wait to visit again and will definitely be recommending this shelter every chance I get!

This place has helped me with everything I have ever needed regarding caring for my animals. Be it general questions, following up on a lost pet or help when my best friend Pooch was at the end of his days, this is the place I go for help when the care of pets goes above and beyond what I can do for them. They are a great!

These folks are great! Adopted our dog here last week. He's great, the staff is great, and the entire facility is very clean. Also have training built into the adoption price! Again, this is where to get your next dog, or cat, or gerbil!
