Services
Full boarding services are available for mammals, bird, reptiles and amphibians throughout the year. Every possible effort is made to make your pets comfortable while you are away. Herbivores get fresh greens daily and ferrets, skunks and prairie dogs are allowed "scamper time" in the exam rooms as time allows.
It takes a lot of time and extra care to set up for, and to evaluate new patients and clients. It is very important for us to get to know our new clients. Every client and patient has a special relationship, and they have different expectations of their Veterinarian. We love getting to know new people and pets.
At Broward Avian and Exotics, we think of ourselves as an extension of your hospital. Many of your clients have patients other than cats and dogs. We work with primary care, emergency and specialty veterinarians to improve the lives of avian and exotic pets. If you're a veterinarian who hasn't worked with BAEAH before, we would like to invite you to partner with us.
Is never easy to lose our best friends. Sometimes it is hard to overcome the pain and to move forward. For this reason we have created the following documents with information that may help you and your family during these difficult times. This group is designed for adults who are grieving the loss of a pet.

There was an injured wild bird in the bushes by my apartment on the bottom level and I was attempting to find help in any way. I searched Google for what to do and it suggested local Vets that deal with exotic animals. I called and the young lady that I spoke with was very very sweet. Unfortunately their office couldn't assist, so she gave me the information for Florida Fish and Wildlife who didn't answer or call back, so that was disappointing.

Very judgemental. I'm obsessed with watching vet shows and this is the first one I've watched where she is constantly judging her clients and the types of pets they have. She's an exotic pet doctor yet she degrades and judges every client who owns one; constantly saying "idk why people by these pets they are not domestic cats and dogs" or "I don't think they really know what they've gotten into buying an exotic pet".
It's really irritating because she doesn't say it to the client but instead says it to the camera crew behind the clients back. I can't stand how fake she is with the clients.

Warning! Dont bring your pet here! I called this office because she has the RHD vaccine for rabbits. So I took my 2 rabbits in. She said my one girl needed dental surgery. I would do anything for my pet so of course I agreed. I was charged over $2000 and she KILLED my perfectly healthy 3 year old bunny. She is a con and a shister. She had her receptionist call to tell me she died!
This woman has a t.v. show and I wonder if she even has a medical degree. Check out Yelp. I wish I would have before I brought my bunnies here. Tons of 1 star reviews. Dead pets and empty pockets.

Unless you want to shell out thousands of dollars for your pet to wind up dead, please go somewhere else for your fur babies. I had a vibrant, young, healthy bunny Boba who was eating, playing, and loving life with her husbun. She enjoyed snuggles and rearranging toddler cups and binky-ing when she was happy or excited. 3 days after seeing this vet for a simple RHD vaccine (rabbit hemmoragic disease) she was DEAD.
This vet pressured my mother into a $2,000+ dental surgery. We'd already lost our young, healthy guinea pig last year under anesthesia (different vet) and were extremely terrified and hesitant. Had I not visited this money grubbing doctor, MY RABBIT WOULD LITERALLY STILL BE ALIVE. The receptionist was the one to confirm her death in the morning. Apparently, our sweet girl died in the night, alone, in pain.
We spent all day grieving, not knowing what happened. Dr. K had a different vet (one who didn't even perform Boba's surgery!) call to explain later in the day, (oh and her cremation would cost extra!) and it wasn't until 8 at night that Dr. K finally had the courtesy to tell us the details of her passing. This vet and clinic do not even deserve the 1 star in this review. I would give negative -100 stars for their high pressure, high sales tactics and for killing my sweet girl. Go elsewhere for your pets, please.

Unlike other exotic vets they made us give our bearded dragon shots instead of administering it themselves. As well as not going over the reasoning as to why he wasnt feeling and acting right. To put the icing on top of it they took forever to respond back about some tests they ran. If you want someone to actually care about your pet go to Animal House.

I took my almost 1 1/2 year gecko here because since Monday he has reduced his intake in food, but he was still eating, and they said that he had so many problems and put 4 medicines at once and my gecko died after 15 minutes. They claimed that because I didn't want t spend $300 on diagnosis plus $70 visit fee that they couldn't know exactly what he had, but still I paid $175 plus $70. 4 medicines at once, one being and injection on a tiny animal like this, could be shocking! I will investigate this with other vets because it doesn't seem right. Be careful with geckos!.

All I can say is that the kindness from not only the front desk, but from the staff was great and the entire process with my guinea pig from the moment I made contact over the phone to the surgery, diagnostic and then unfortunately we had to humanely euthanize my 5 year old little boy, but the doctor (Doctor Faith Burgos) was remarkable. They made this difficult moment so much easier. Their knowledge, compassion and bedside manner for me was above standards. Thank you all.

I've been going to them for my recently passed hedgehog. When I initially brought him in, In April 2021, they diagnosed the problem and helped with his medications etc. Anytime I had a question after the visit they helped. Scheduling appointments could be tough sometimes, that's my only real issue. Sometimes a week or 2 in advance, which, as you know with a sick animal, can be unacceptable.
I gave them 5 stars because of how they handled the situation when I put down my baby. I called and the same day they were able to fit me in, given the circumstances. The DR made sure he was ready and I wasn't jumping the gun. I had been in a few months prior and she said he wasn't ready for it yet. So I knew this time he was, in addition to his condition.
They sat me in a separate room with a couch and privacy. They brought him in and let me stay with him as long as I wanted and then they did the procedure there with him in my hands. They were compassionate and caring. It made the experience better, given the circumstances. I was able to stay with him afterwards for however long I wanted as well. Overall, they were very professional and I recommend coming here for the exotic animals. NOTE- I cannot speak on their price because I have not tried anywhere else to know if they are higher or lower.

Just visited the outside on a drive from Orlando to Ft. Lauderdale. Big fan of Dr. K's show and enjoyed seeing the real place. It was closed on the Sunday I stopped by. If I had an exotic pet in need I'd certainly bring it there - 9 seasons of the show proves it's an amazing place with folks that really care about animals.

Our bearded dragon was sick. She's been a part of the family for over 4 years. We took her here and they took beautiful care of her. she's home now recovering perfectly. Caring kind loving people and experience that's like no other. I would recommend for anybody with any exotic pet. Danny Jen Jessie and our pet Thor.

The front desk staff is fine. The problem is Dr. Kelleher. Our Quaker Parrot (Richey) went in to have his nails trimmed. When we got him back, we were told they cut one of the nails too short severing a nerve which caused him to bleed. He obviously was in pain since his leg remained up most of the time. Instead of apologizing, her words were "he's being dramatic" even though he was shaking and looked mortified.
She is aggressive, rude, lacks people skills and takes no accountability. 4 days later, he is unable to use his leg fully. This is not an underlying condition as claimed by Dr. Kelleher. Bottom line, WE WILL NEVER RETURN.

I had a terrible and horrible experience last night while trying to pick up my tortoise from the Broward Avian & Exotic Animal Hospital. The doctor, Susan Kelleher, DVM, did her job checking my tortoise and doing x-rays and blood tests. I had to leave the tortoise and hours later the doctor called me to say she could not find anything wrong with. the tortoise.
I was charged $75 in advance just for the privilege of walking through the door. Then, I was charged the exorbitant price of almost $700 for tests. My tortoise is still sick. One of the secretaries at the clinic confirmed that I could pick Titto up that night at 8:00 p.m. and agreed that they could wait for about 10 minutes. They.
