Holistic Veterinary Center - Katherine E Evans We are still open and plan to stay open as an essential business in the state. However, if you do not feel comfortable being in our office, let us know. We may be able to do a phone recheck, or we can get your pet from the car. We are continuing to practice social distancing at the office. Also, PLEASE do not plan on coming to our office if you or any one in your household has been sick.

We're here for you and we would like to continue to keep everyone (people and pets alike) safe and healthy. Our goal is to provide quality compassionate care to our patients and their owners and to act as a resource for interested individuals to learn more about alternative and complementary medicine.

Chinese Herbal Medicine is another branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In fact, approximately 80% of all traditional Chinese medical patients are treated with herbs, while only the remaining 20% are treated with acupuncture or other manual therapies. Chinese Herbal Medicine has ancient roots in China.
Just as acupuncture and herbs are integral parts of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), so too is Chinese food therapy. Unlike the science of nutrition, with its five food groups and pyramids which is promoted in the U.S., Chinese food therapy is more a tradition learned through the culture. In China people have learned from their family to eat foods appropriate for the time of year and for the balancing of the body. The Chinese realized long ago the importance of a healthy digestive system for the prevention of disease.
No discussion on the therapies offered at the Holistic Veterinary Center would be complete without discussing wellness care. My goal, through education and preventative care, is to provide pets with a long, full, and healthy life. My goal is to prevent disease or to find the underlying imbalance causing disease.
Recently I overheard some people discussing their fat feline friends. One person was convinced that the cause for this full figured feline was early age (between 8 and 12 weeks) spay/neuter. While this may be a contributing factor, the more obvious cause is the diet. Let's start with some basics. Cats are carnivores (strict meat eaters)-just look at their teeth. They have sharp pointed teeth (and claws) that are perfect for catching and eating small prey, mostly rodents and birds. Now look at your teeth.

Dr Katherine Evans and her staff are excellent. I believe in visualization and Dr Katherine Evans is respective of my own way of caring for my beloved Bella. Dr Evans has been my rock thru navigating chemotherapy and canine kidney failure. She translates bloodwork and specialists comments in a way that my brain can digest and process it has been a 2.5 year journey thus far. Dr evans has been with me every step of the way. Bella has beaten all odds and I firmly believe Dr Evans is responsible for that.

I get to enjoy a senior dog now. One of my visualization goals. Dr Evans is helping with Bella's normal aging, going on 14, issues now with acupuncture. My dogs are my children and I trust her with their little lives completely

Kathy Evans is a great vet and offers holistic treatment to support your pet's health. Her support help our FELV positive cat alive for over six years when the average lifespan of a FELV infected cat is around a year. And Kenney had a good quality and very robust life. We were blessed to keep him an extra five years largely because of the holistic and herbal support Kathy provided.
