Gastropexy is a surgical procedure used to prevent an emergency condition called "GDV" or "bloat". This is when a dog's stomach twists and occludes the esophagus and causes the stomach to develop severe distension. The swollen stomach will affect the ability to breath, limit the blood supply getting back to the heart and the blood.

We were camping at Ridgway and one of our dogs ended up needing emergency surgery. Everyone at San Juan Veterinary Clinc was fantastic. They quickly diagnosed the problem and kept us informed through the entire process. You can tell how much they care about their patients (and owners too!). Can’t speak highly enough about the service we received.

Probably the my most enjoyable place I have taken my animals to the vet. Always super nice and not like I'm bugging them when I call or have an issue even just a simple nail trim. Ever since I was a little girl, my pets have been going to this vet. One of my pets was seen by them for about 15 years until she had to be put down a couple years ago. Even after she was gone, they handled her body with compassion and care when they took her to get cremated. Right now they see my cat, and even though she is scared and timid around new environments and people, they treat her like they'd treat their own pets. They're just as informative and responsive as they were when I was little which is why I have stuck with them.

My dog was sick and they made us a same day appt that we were late to.but the staff was friendly and the Dr Mike V is an awesome vet. He checked my dog out didn't freak him out and we purchased his prescription and paid for our visit.150.00 and I would recommend them to anyone! Good gentle knowledgeable vet! Thank you! Oreo is doing better!

This is the best veterinary clinic in town. I work in the pet industry and hear good and bad things about every clinic in town but never hear a bad thing about San juan veterinary! I've taken my dogs to see Dr Green and Dr. Franklin for 15 years and they've always treated my difficult dogs with the greatest care and respect of any clinic I've tried. and I've tried a few. Their prices are more than others in the area but it's no surprise why. You get what you pay for and I only trust the best with my babies.
