Services
Wilhite & Frees Equine Hospital is a 100% equine practice located in Peculiar, just South of Kansas City, Missouri. While most of our patients reside in Jackson and Cass counties in Missouri, and in Johnson county Kansas, we also provide services to clients outside of the greater Kansas City metropolitan area.
Dr. Wilhite earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1996 from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. In 1998, he founded Wilhite Equine Veterinary Services, P.C., which is now doing business as Wilhite and Frees Equine Veterinary Services. His is a member of: AAEP; AVMA; MVMA; KCVMA; and the Missouri Academy of Veterinary Practioners (MAVP).

This place is phenomenal all of the staff and vets are super nice extremely knowledgeable and want the best for our horses I'm super blessed to have been told about them my vet is Dr. Davis she's easy to get along with answers any and all questions has now seen and treated 4 of my horses it's so nice to have a amazing vet on your side unfortunately before them we recently had lost 2 horses due to vets who didn't care and didn't have the knowledge that was needed. The facility is also top notch very clean!

My horse is a new patient with Wilhite & Frees. It was very easy to set up her appointment and they were extremely responsive with the new patient paperwork. I also got text reminders about the appointment which was very helpful. They showed up at the boarding faculty on time and they were extremely kind and patient with my horse (and me!) and they explained everything they were doing to make sure I understood. Overall, I'm very happy and would recommend!

They were there for us on a Friday night when our horse went lame with an infected joint and our vet was out of town. Johnson and Frees were professional and thorough and focused on what was best for our horse. Dr. Frees called Sat, Sun, and Monday to follow up and check progress. Top notch patient care!

The professionals at Wilhite and Frees Equine Hospital surrounded my horse with compassion, care, curiosity, positivity, and expertise. Four veterinarians participated in a thorough evaluation for lameness. My middle-aged trail horse never had such experienced care. You would think the doctors were treating an internationally famous dressage horse. We received information, answers, and options. It was a great value, as well. Chief is worth it.

This practice knows my equine are my top priority! They present options and we discuss so I feel as though I have made the best decision for my animal. I was really impressed that going into a holiday weekend that they got me medication! They have been super responsive and so easy to make an appointment! We really like the docs and my horses and donkeys like them too! So glad we moved so close to Wilhite & Frees.

When I Have needed them, they have come. Dr Sisk who usually has come out, takes great care of the horses, explains in detail what is happening, and what she is going to do. After care instructions are precise. Best of all, her calm ways, always made me calm. Dr. Wilhite and Dr. Frees have also been there for our horses, couldn't ask for a more dedicated, caring knowledgeable, team, not just the Vets, the techs, and the office staff. A world class team.

I can not speak highly enough of this establishment. We called the office with an emergency and Hannah assured us the vet was on the way. Dr. Wilhite and his staff were amazing! So professional, thorough and honest. They left us with clear instructions. As the day went on we decided to transport our horse to their facility. That is where we met Dr. Sisk.
Why the outcome was certainly not what we selfishly wanted, it was what was best for our horse. The care and compassion from the entire staff was amazing! Thank you for guiding us through this difficult time.

As a long time client, I'd give Wilhite & Frees the very best rating possible. They are simply the best ... from their knowledge, skill, state-of-the-art facility, honesty, communication with client and even compassion. If they don't know the answer or the best treatment is beyond what their facility can offer, there is no hesitation to contact other experts for consultation or referral.
I use them for all my equine veterinary needs and have been encouraged to call them if I should ever have an equine health related issue while traveling. Regarding surgery ... My Tari simply would not be alive today without Dr. Frees' expertise, and that is the ultimate recommendation.
