Westfield Veterinary Care is a full-service animal hospital helping pet owners provide the best care throughout the life of their pet. The clinic has evolved from a house call practice started by Dr. Richard Kohlmann over 20 years ago. Years have passed and we have grown from the referrals of our loyal clients. Our practice now includes Dr. Alicia Bundy who joined us in 2007 and Dr. Sarah Kronland who joined our team in 2015.
As the practice grows, our passion and care continue to grow with it. We have continued with the original mission of providing outstanding medical care with a personal touch to our patients and their families.

Services
We pride ourselves on our extremely capable and knowledgeable staff. We are always learning and strongly emphasize continuing education in all aspects of medical care as well as nutrition and behavior. To paraphrase a quote by Roger Caras: Animals are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.
Dr. Kohlmann's past work experience includes serving as a dairy veterinarian in Pennsylvania, teaching physiology at Purdue University and training dogs for obedience classes. He started Westfield Veterinary Care as a house-call practice. What has always drawn him to this field is the opportunity to help people care for their pets.
I joined the practice in 2008. It was my love of animals and wanting to pursue a career in veterinary medicine that drew me here. In addition to my degree from IUPUI, I've attended a veterinary technician program and many continuing education classes. I particularly enjoy working with some of the more reluctant patients, behavioral issues and seeing our sick patients walk out healthy. I have fostered and rescued many dogs and cats. I also work with autistic and special needs adults. I joined the practice in 2009.
Canine influenza -aka Dog Flu or CIV-is a highly contagious viral infection that affects dogs. The first confirmed Dog Flu (H3N8) outbreak occurred in Florida at a greyhound racing track in 2004. In 2015, a second strain (H3N2) was discovered in Chicago during an outbreak. This second strain was thought to have originated from Asia.

We started bringing our dogs here after another vet in Carmel kept overprescribing steroids for an ear infection. All of the staff is very nice and they clearly love their jobs. The vets are never pushy with us and are really good about giving pros and cons of different tests and treatments when needed. Both of my dogs love coming here due to the high amounts of treats and peanut butter they now expect to get too!

I took my pup in here for an appointment after hearing nothing but good things from my family. Everybody in the building was kind, warm, and above all patient! My Tucker has extreme anxiety and is very shy around new people but Dr. Kronland and Kelly both sat with him and got to know him and his quirks. They fed him peanut butter, treats, and talked to him in calming voices.
They were extremely patient with him and helped put both him and me at ease during the whole appointment. I couldn't have asked for a better veterinarian office for my special boy. Thank you to everyone at Westfield Veterinary Care!

Brought my 2 pups for their first overnight boarding and when I went to pick them up; first they brought out the wrong 2 dogs, second they brought out my tote bag with another dogs bowl and toy with ALL of my pups food inside. Thought at first they did not feed my pups but the vomiting and diarrhea all day proved me wrong. According to Presley, the kennel mgr, they could not find my pups food so they gave them another brand. Not once a phone call or text to ask about dog food and apparently they did not look too hard because the bag was brought to me when I checked out. Not going back!

This office is amazing! I called as a new patient on a Saturday morning worrying about my Frenchies eyes. The office staff squeezed us in immediately. Dr. Sarah Kronland looked every inch of him over throughly! Her staff is excellent. The girls on the phone were so kind and the tech in the room was just as kind. Thankful we had this false alarm so that we can continue care with Dr. Sarah! My guy left happy/healthy and deserving of a pup cup.
