Hoof and Paw Veterinary Clinic is a mixed animal practice. We offer health care to bovine, equine, canine, feline and alpacas. We offer referral for exotics. The primary purpose of the Hoof and Paw Veterinary Clinic is to provide a Gold Standard of health care for your pet by treating your pet as we would our own. The doctors and the staff all share a common goal to promote wellness, relieve suffering and restore health as swiftly, safely and humanely as possible. Dr. Amy Prochnow - Dr. Amy Prochnow, clinic owner, graduated from Iowa State University in 1999. Dr. Amy, as she has become known, has been with the clinic since graduation from Iowa State. She practices small animal medicine. She and her husband, Doug, have two girls, Kira and Meghan. Dr. Amy enjoys spending time with her family, playing volleyball, gardening and helping her husband on the farm.
Patients are seen by appointment only. Emergency cases shall always receive top priority followed by patients with previously scheduled appointments. We do limited emergency work. We have a doctor on call to take phone calls, but because we are not fully staffed the doctor will help you determine if your pet can be seen by us or if you need to be referred to an emergency clinic.

Thank you to Hoof and Paw for your support and comfort at the end of life process for my old dog. Pets are family and the ability to watch them quietly pass was so much more peacefully than I had ever hoped. I was running late, because My cat Smokey decided to escape outside right before we had to leave for the Vet. They were very understanding and got Smokey in the room right when we got there. The vet was very careful and gentle while checking Smokey's hair, body, and while giving her the rabies shot. She even gave Smokey some Cat treats to snack on. I would definitely recommend Dr Richelle Ackerman for all of your pet's Vet care needs.

Super helpful when I was a mess. My four week old kitten was barely alive when I took her here after hours. They did all they could, sent me home with great information and were 100 percent honest with me about her condition. After hours of spending time at home she unfortunately passed, but I felt that they did everything they could. They also equipped me to deal with whatever came up. I should say I was walking snotball, crying, and beside myself, and they were very good to me as well. I would take any of my animals here.
