I've used alpine since I moved to the gorge a few years ago. Staff are always nice. They follow up the next day which is kind. The vet I saw this past time seemed nervous around my dog which then made her a little weird. Still fine care though.

Alpine is the best! We rescued our boy Clyde a couple years ago. He had some issues so we immediately started taking him there to get healthy. They identified his allergy's and got him feeling like a puppy again. He is doing great because of them! I highly recommend Alpine Veterinary Hospital!

I called about a stray kitten that I have been feeding and it is wild, I can't approach it. It got ripped open by some animal, and its intestines are hanging out. I called this vet, and they refused to put the animal out of its misery, without having an exam.that is $80 and also, then they decide if "my pet" should be euthanized.! Also, with another pet that is dying of cancer.even though they were the ones that said there is nothing that can be done.insisted on a "wellness check" to prescribe the only medication that helps her through this. They are unprofessional and they have no heart.

We came here for a couple visits even though we reside in Portland to get puppy vaccinations while waiting for the first available vet appointment locally. The breeder we got her from goes here and the staff even remembered delivering the litter! It was really sweet how joyful that visit was, and I just wanted to thank you all for being so awesome.

Very professional and kind and Dr. Vance is great. I think having such positive first vet experiences for a puppy has set her up to do well in the future. If we lived closer we would absolutely continue care here, but maybe we will pop in for a visit someday. :

We brought our dog in to Alpine Vet Bingen for a blood draw ordered by portland vet. Alpine Veterinary Hospital in Bingen WA, Dr. Vance told us, is affiliated with Alpine Veterinary Hospital in Hood River OR. However they duplicated services and charged us for the service, which was a general examination of our dog which had been performed less than two weeks prior in Hood River.

He then complained that our dog had an odor he was not familiar with and insisted she be tested for thyroid. We told him that this odor is from swimming in the Columbia daily and that our male dog, same breed develops the same slightly yeasty odor in the summer. Charges for this and other services for which we actually wanted this vet to perform, were not discussed prior to receiving the bill which was essentially double the cost of the requested service. Vance also inserted himself in care of our dog which was being supervised by another vet and gave a lot of bad and unsolicited advice. We are extremely dissatisfied.

The staff is amazing. They really take excellent care of your pets. They treat them as if they are their own. We use both Hood River (for regular checkups) and Bingen (for repro) locations. Can't go wrong.

Dr. Vance has a love for animals that doesn't get overlooked. He cares for his patients and their owners. Great work is done here, you can trust that your fur babies are getting quality care here. The front desk staff always make you feel great when you walk in and cheer you up when you might be worried for your animal. They have after hours emergency care as well.

We went to this vet for a few years and most of the staff were friendly, dr Vance is a great vet, but they have one lady at the front desk who is very very rude. Her name is Keena and she seems very very insincere and almost snide. One time we didnt anticipate a charge being higher than it was due to extra test they decided were really needed, so we got the bill and we live 40 miles away.

We had vets closer but we were going to alpine for a long time, so we simply asked if we could pay 500 then and the remaining 50 the next day, she said no very rudely and gave a very dismissive look to us like we were trying to scam them regardless of the fact we come there regularly, so we had to drive 98miles there and back to get our dog back, from then on we were treated very rude by her every time we came in, so our family decided to cease using this vet and I've heard a similar story from someone who still goes there but is considering leaving due to Keena alone

Wonderful practice! Helped my pug so much! They even dealt with a (literally) high client who was abusing her dog. Top notch place - very happy I found a place for my adored pooper. Extremely competent & compassionate vet - just relieved I found him. On time for my afternoon apt, found a UTI, and made me feel great!

We've take our pets (currently 4 cats and 2 dogs) to Dr Vance and his team for the past 6 years. Our experience ranges from getting vaccinations to having our elderly dogs put to sleep when we had to. We have consistently received the highest quality care, including referral to excellent specialists when our pets needed it. Dr Vance is extremely knowledgeable and he and his staff are the kindest people you will ever meet. Your pets are in good hands with these folks.

Appalling service. BE WARNED if they overbook themselves, they'll consitute it as an emergency, blame you (the paying customer) and then literally make you drag your 90 lb sedated dog outside and set her on the GROUND and wait there with her until she comes-to. Considering the fact that she was already drugged up on Trazedone and didn't need to be sedated, but the doctor is afraid of pit bulls so he sedated her immediately anyway, and then didn't account for the time it takes for a 90lb dog to wake up.

It was as if I was not as important as the other people in the waiting room.even though I had just spent over $600 at that place for my other animals, too! The least they could have done was let my poor dog wake up. Also, dare I ask - what kind of vet is afraid of ANY dog? I am switching vets immediately, and I don't recommend this place to anyone.

We were camping east of the Dalles this Memorial Day weekend and our sweet pup went a few feet off trail to do his business and got bit by a rattlesnake on his front paw. It rapidly became extremely swollen and painful. My husband called all over trying to find somewhere to take him and for awhile we thought we'd have to drive all the way back to Portland.

He finally called Alpine Vet and Dr. Bob drove in 30 min from his home to see our pup. There was also a very nice woman whose name I didn't catch who interrupted her family outing to open the clinic for us while waiting for Dr. Bob. Dr. Bob and Stacy were both extremely kind and professional to our family and dog despite being called in on a beautiful Sunday morning (and being sleep deprived after doing an emergency C-section the night before).

They kept our dog as comfortable as possible and Stacy set him up on blankets on the floor for his antivenom IV so I could sit next to him. They got him out of severe pain and maybe saved his life. Today (1 day later) pup is walking gingerly on his paw and starting to wag his tail again. I'm so very thankful for the care he received and would highly recommend this clinic!

My dogs and cats have been patients at Alpine for many years (over 15) and I can't imagine trusting my babies' care to any other veterinary clinic. Dr. Vance and his staff are extremely kind, caring and knowledgeable. They've never been rude pr treated me with anything but compassion and understanding. They go above and beyond the call of duty. I moved from the Gorge last April to the Washington coast and I still drive 4 hours each way to have them take care of my little ones. I consider everyone at the hospital as part of my family and that's exactly how they treat their patients and their patients' families.

Absolutely love this place. The staff is great! Never had a issue with getting a appointments, very knowledgeable and very kind to our very old dog. Had to put our 18 year old Reno down. Dr. Maggie and Heather were great. They didn't rush us, walked us through what was going to take place, and helped us make the difficult decision. Rebecca watched my infant son for me while I said my good bye to our dear Reno. Thank you guys so very much.

Best Vet clinic in the Gorge. Dr. Vance always does the most wonderful work! They are able to get you in fast and they are always courteous, friendly and flexible. I really don't understand the negative comments except they didn't get their own way or have a personal grudge. We have gone here for about 15 years and never had a bad experience. It's clean and our pets are treated well and we are too! I drive from Stevenson to use this place. I recommend to everyone

Recently my sweet KAT went missing for 8 days. I had cried all my tears and mourned his loss, then he came home at 4am looking like something the dog dragged in, (super sick, skinny, scabby, wouldn't eat or drink). I called Alpine as soon as they opened and they got him right in. There is so much more to this story (including me just about giving up on him) but, the fact is Dr Vance and crew saved KAT's life.

They even kept him over the weekend and gave him his meds for me for the price of boarding, not hospitalization. KAT has a long way to go after being so close to death, but, I'm hopeful he will make a full recovery. I recommend Dr Vance with complete confidence for all the furry babies in the gorge. Brenda Kinder PS We have been taking our pets to Alpine for almost 35 years.

In that time we have had to have many pets euthanized and they do the sedative followed by the lethal injection. It has always been very peaceful. I'm so sorry Yolanda's mom had to witness her kitty suffering, that definitely isn't' the way it has ever gone for us.

Absolute the worst Veterinary clinic I have ever experienced! I have had dogs my entire life and have had great experiences at all of the other veterinary clinics in the Gorge, but Alpine is the far worst I have ever experienced! The staff are rude to their patients (dogs and owners). They treated my dog poorly. They are inflexible with their schedules and turn away animals in emergencies.

I will NEVER attend this clinic EVER again. Please don't allow you or your animal to be mistreated by Alpine. All of the other clinics in the gorge are very welcoming and will fit your animal in for an appointment, usually the same day you call.

Do not trust the care of your pets to this horrible place. We took my mom's precious kitty for euthanasia. Oliver had been with her for 17+ years so she insisted on going in to be with him during the procedure to say goodbye. It was nightmarish. Literally, my mother had nightmares for weeks. Right out of a Stephen King novel. The inept vet could not find the vein so that caused some trauma for poor Oliver, then it seemed like he just got enough poison to paralyze him, but not kill him.

He was paralyzed with his little limbs extended straight out and he was SCREAMING! It was horrific, i was freaking out, mom was hysterical, I begged the vet to give him more or just do something. This went on for minutes, it was inexcusable. I have a vet friend in Portland. She said what they do is first give a sedative injection which relaxes your pet and puts them to sleep. Then, they first insert a catheter in the vein, then administer the lethal injection in the cathater so that it goes in with no pain. That is not what we experienced. Please do not take your pets here.
