Services
To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time. For your convenience, drop-off' appointments are available.
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
Many people have questions about various aspects of their pet's surgery, and we hope this information will help. It also explains the decisions you will need to make before your pet's upcoming surgery. Today's modern anesthetic monitors have made surgery much safer than in the past. Here at Commonwealth Veterinary Clinic, we do a thorough physical exam on your pet before administering anesthetics, to ensure that a fever or other illness won't be a problem. We also adjust the amount and type of anesthetic used depending on the health of your pet.
Jenny graduated from Blue Ridge Community College in May of 2000 with an Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology and joined the team at Commonwealth shortly after. She has always wanted to provide good quality health care for all animals. Her responsibilities includebeing an active participant with the technical staff members, inventorycontrol, and general hospital protocols.

Easy to schedule with, friendly staff and affordable! I drove from Richmond to take my dog Mojo to get rabies vaccine renewed! All the other places make you pay for an annual and refuse to provide the rabies vaccine alone without an annual exam which usually has $100 attached to service. Even with the gas prices being $5.00, I still saved at the end as they only charged less than$50!

Tried for over two weeks to get a new client appointment. I was told the only person that could set that up was the office manager but a message would be left for her and she would get back to me in a day or two. I waited three days and when I still wasn't contacted I called again. I called every two days for two weeks and was never put in contact with the office manager, however was assured I'd get a call back and never did.
I understand personal issues arise and being very busy or even overwhelmed. However, if one person is not able to adequately handle the system in place to accommodate and accept clients then perhaps a new system is called for. EDIT: The response to this review was lightning fast in comparison. The fact this clinic only accepts a few clients at a time was not communicated and instead you and your pet are left in limbo expecting a call that never comes. I do hope the communication of how long you are expected to wait and timeliness of responses are addressed and rectified.

Commonwealth took us in when our regular vet couldn't to help with an emergency situation with our dog. Although the outcome was not what we hoped (through no fault of their own), they were professional and compassionate throughout the process. Thank you so much for you attention to detail and excellent care!

Our cat, Sadie, is always well taken care of at Commonwealth Veterinary Clinic. The staff is very friendly and I went to school with Dr. Nice and knew when he bought the practice that he would do a wonderful job just as Dr. Bowman did, and he has! Dr. Barton is fantastic as well! Thank you, Commonwealth Vet Clinic! :
