I am not speaking to the quality of vet care provided by this clinic during their hours of operation, I am writing to inform people that if you use this clinic you will be sent to an emergency clinic 1 hour away in the event of an after hours emergency. For me that meant that my cat had to suffer and died on the way to the emergency clinic. I believe that this is something people should know, because you may not find out until you are in an emergency situation and it is too late.

I was asked if it was a life or death situation and I responded "YES" and they texted me the address of the clinic 1 hour away. That is not acceptable to me. I love my animals and I will be using a clinic that can provide emergency services in the case of life and death situations.

We take all of our animals to West Mountain to see Dr. Sarah and the team. Dr. Sarah provides top level care for our animals with compassion, care, and a stromg grasp on what is best for our family and pets. When our cat fell ill, Dr. Sarah went above and beyond to ensure she was receiving the best care possible. You can tell Dr. Sarah and the staff at West Mountain care deeply about everyone who walks in their door, 4 legged or 2 legged. We trust them with our family.

I went to West Mountain Animal Hospital because I had a cat that was steadily getting worse over a weekend, I went in as an emergency visit. The care that Dr. Dana Ames and her assistant gave my cat was exceptional. The assessment that they gave me and the support when I had to make a very hard decision was kind and respectful. The following week I received the nicest handwritten letter from Dr. Ames that I've ever received for losing anyone human or animal in my life. I am extraordinarily appreciate of the care that we both received. Thank you for being available on a Sunday.

I have been going to West Mountain since the early 90's and have had consistent professional and courteous care for my pets. After relocating I had to choose another vet. Fast forward to 2019. During the COVID-19 pandemic I was unable to get an appointment with my regular vet so chose to go back to West Mountain. My 15 old Springer Spaniel had a severe skin condition and it was not getting better despite trying many over the counter remedies. Dr. Sarah Blau was assigned to me and my pup.

From day one she insinuated that I was some how responsible for this skin condition. For the next few months I had my son and wife go to the appointments to avoid what seemed like personality conflicts between Dr. Blau and myself. Unfortunately they received the same treatment. She was rude and the shaming continued. After a a few courses of antibiotics, some medicated shampoo, and a shot to stop the itching my pup did get some relief but the skin condition did not clear up.

After 30 days when the shot was no longer effective he would start itching again. At the next visit I endured more insinuations that I was somehow at fault. She would reiterated her concern about my dogs wellbeing and how bad she felt for him. Ironically I had the same concerns which is why I was at the vet! After close to $2000 in vet bills in less than a year, expensive skin cultures, several courses of antibiotics targeted for his specific condition, he did not get better.

Today I went for yet another follow-up and was told flat out, "I am borderline neglectful." This was extremely hurtful and more than I could endure. This dog grew up with my two boys and is part of our family. I picked up my pup and left. In hindsight I wish I could have endured a bit longer and voiced my true opinions of Dr. Blau. I am not sure if it is incompetence, lack of compassion, lack of character, or just poor bedside manner but Dr Sarah seems incapable of caring for my dog. Additionally no one in my household is willing to subject themselves to Dr. Sarah Blau's rhetoric going forward.

We will be taking my old dog back to his former vet now that the pandemic has subsided some. Hopefully they will be able to keep him comfortable for a bit longer. I am not expecting miracles for a 15 year old dog but he deserves better. I think it is important to add that the rest of the staff at West Mountain has been wonderful. Caring, courteous, and professional. I would recommend West Mountain I would just steer clear of Dr. Blau.

I couldn't be happier with the staff at WMAH. As my dogs are getting older I'm beginning to worry about little changes that come with age so I've visited more frequently lately Dr Bo in particular has been patient with me and gentle with my dogs.the vet techs are as well.great place for pet care

I sent my dog here after he got into a fight to get checked out to then get a doctor that did not fully check my dog out because I couldn't come up with $400 for treatment to then get a solution that completely botched they stapled my dogs leg and missed a staple completely off the cut they missed punctures and cuts on him one that is now slightly infected would never send my dog back here again poor care about the animal themselves only about the money. Dr. Morris was the doctor who poorly took care of my dog

My cat, Pixie, became a patient here at West Mountain last year when we moved to Bennington. She was 18 years old and into her third year post chronic kidney disease diagnosis. Dr. Dana Ames and the entire staff impressed me with their compassion and professionalism, right up to the end - on August 20, when it became obvious that Pixie was having many more bad days and fewer good moments. Pixie was treated with love and respect, and so was I, which made all the difference at that very difficult time. I would recommend WMAH to anyone who loves their pet(s) and wants only the best care for them.

Had a great first visit today. I was worried about just sending my pup in on his own, but thankful of the extra measures being taken to keep staff and owners safe. Very informative staff, that were able to answer all my questions.

We moved to Vermont 16 years ago. At the time we had 2 Mini Schnauzers. WMAH came highly recommended and are so happy we listened. Recently we had to bring our beloved Teddy (almost 12 years old Boxer) for his final trip to WMAH. They were so kind. I attribute his longevity to the great medical care at WMAH and his wonderful diet from The Handsome Hound.

We have just adopted Archie a Mini Boxer (mutt) who had his first visit. He will continue to be cared for at WMAH along with Trudy our 7 year old Mini Schnauzer. Remember these folks are your friends and neighbors who go the extra measure for you and your pet. Thanks you West Mountain Animal Hospital !!

Honestly if you are thinking about a vet service look no further. My experience with WMAH has been amazing thus far. Initially I moved to town and decided to take my three pets elsewhere due to what i heard is them having a “high” price tag. Their prices are actually lower than a family owned Vet Clinic that I was attending. Their staff was SO kind and helpful.

The vet spent 45 minutes with me and my cat making sure that she got the appropriate yearly check up and made sure that the annual visit was time well spent. Most places give you a shot and have you be on your way-not here! You can tell they truly care about their patients. My experience was so positive, i truly have no idea why you would go anywhere else.

There are several vets on staff but you can choose to stick with the same one so the vet gets to know you and your pets. Also the prices are below market value (let me repeat myself). Please take my advice and attend this place. It will not steer you wrong!

We love all the staff at WMAH- doctors, assistants, techs and office staff. The caring is strong here and good medicine is what they practice. In every interaction, they take good care of my dogs and of me, too. My dogs and I have been here for porcupine emergencies, for end of life care, for routine care, for small injuries, spays, and dental exams; from puppy to senior, and I am grateful to have found such wonderful, smart and caring people from the front desk to the exam room to the surgery.

I drive down the mountain, and past 4 other veterinarians to make sure my dogs are cared for by Dr Bo, Dr Linda, Jana, Missy, Shannon, Jen, Jen, and Kendra and then see Cathy for a high five and a cookie on the way out.

Always friendly and competent. Great experiences with the good visits and not so good visits with my pets. This was a great visit...Trevor always happy to see the vet...he’s just a little lazy!
