Jeff is a 1999 graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary medicine. He had the chance to work in a very progressive veterinary facility just south of Cincinatti, Ohio. It provided him excellent mentorship for business, compassionate care, and top notch veterinary medicine. After some time, Jeff, along with Jennifer returned to coastal Mississippi after surveying the needs of area veterinarians and determining that they needed to open their own practice at Gulf Coast Veterinary Emergency Hospital.
To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time. For your convenience, drop-off' appointments are available.
Here are some questions/answers that we are frequently asked. If you have additional questions that aren't covered here, please feel free to give us a call at Emergency Vertical. 1. What are the Hospital hours? Spaying or neutering can be done at approximately 6 months of age. Your pet is given an exam prior to surgery to help determine whether your pet is healthy enough to undergo the surgical procedure.
Maybe your family pet needs a surgery you didn't plan for. But if your pet insurance doesn't cover all the costs for the procedure your pet needs, where do you turn? CareCredit, a GE Money Company, gives you convenient payment options, so you can get the procedure you need. With a decision as important as this, we understand you need to be able to trust your financing company.

The staff were all great. We left without seeing a veterinarian because the wait was really long. We waited from 7:15 until 10:00. Our puppy was brought in because she seemed to be in pain and had a (very unusual) pee incident. Once there and she calmed down she was running around and acted fine. I will follow up with her vet tomorrow since I know there were obviously more pressing cases that needed their attention tonight.

Came in around 5am on a Sunday with a cat with UTI. Doc was in surgery with another pet, so after triage to determine my cat could wait, we waited for two hours. By that point, the clinic was full of people. Dr. Rainey was super friendly and super helpful, though. Also, bill was not bad. visit, ultrasound, bacteria screening, and treatment medication all totaled to around $200. To summarize. long wait (after determining cat was not in critical condition), but wonderful care and low cost. I was very happy.

Our puppy had a UTI, and although the wait was long (I'm sure many more animals had higher acuity issues than our pup), when it was finally our turn, they took excellent care of us and promptly diagnosed the issue. Gave us a copy of labs, gave pain meds and antibiotics, and gave our pup a hygienic shave. Very professional and a beautiful facility as well. I would not hesitate to take any of my animals there again.

I brought my dog in since her normal vet wasn't yet open. They took good care of her. The price originally quoted did change since she had to stay over night, but she got the care she needed in time so that she didn't die. I'm so glad this place was here when my dog needed help, and answered my questions when I called to check on my pup.

A friend of mine gave me her male huskie, Siku, a few years back. She could no longer care for him. Then one day about a year later, I found a female friend for Siku. I found Kona. Before I knew it, I had a litter of 7 huskie puppies. This certain puppy, was all white, had his father's attitude, and always wanted to play and wrestle. It was one day after a new electric fence had been installed in our yard, the two older dogs hadn't learned it's way yet. Siku was outside and got too close to the wire.
We kept yelling for him to come to us, off the wire, but he couldn't move. He felt that electricity a couple times, over and over. All of a sudden, the little white puppy comes running up to Siku who is still on the wire. Puppy jumped up & down in Siku's face several times and was batting his front paws in the air as if to play. Siku was in shock from the electricity and is annoyed by Puppy on a normal day.
With one bite, Siku bit thru Puppy's snout and Puppy went running off in pain. Siku stood on the wire the whole time, still in shock. Siku did not mean to harm his puppy. He was only having a reaction to the electrical shock and the aggrivation he was feeling. All Siku could comprehend at that point was that he wanted Puppy to stop jumping in his face. Siku didn't realize his own strength.
I saw the whole thing happen, it was very fast. I immediately got some ice, and rushed the puppy to the Emergency Vet. The Gulf Coast Emergency Vet staff went above and beyond to get this puppy on the right track! He came in wounded and in need of a new home! He is all healed now and they even helped me find him his fur ever home! UPDATE: All of Kona's puppies found a furever home with a loving family before they turned 6 months old. Kona is spayed now and spends her days playing happily with Siku.

Absolutely NOT! I would never bring an animal of mine to this facility. My son asked me to bring his dog in and from the get go the staff is not friendly. The receptionist acted like she would rather be anywhere else. the nurse like she was hungover or high. The vet (Sutton) was beyond cold.if you're looking for a friendly engaging environment that seems to love working with people and pets this isn't the place.
My sons dog had a health issue that the same vet treated and said she didn't have any problems and was quoted a price of $300 to do her procedure yet when we get here it's an additional $1000.00. I felt like it was a scam or racket. Called my son and said not a chance. And left. Will never go back. You've been warned.

I brought my cat here with, what I originally thought was a broken foot. I was seen within 10 minutes. When he was removed from his cage it was obvious something was very wrong. The tech stopped immediately and got the vet. Unfortunately my fur baby had had a blood clot from his heart travel to his spine and he was paralyzed from his middle to his tail and in a lot of pain.
The vet was very kind in helping us understand that his future was very bleak and would be filled with pain. We made the difficult choice to ease his passing. Everyone was very helpful, kind and respectful. While it was a horrible experience it was made more bearable by everyone there. I would not hesitate to take an injured animal here anytime I had an emergency need.

This review is late but I find myself recommending others to this place. In February we decided to take our sweet Dachshund here because he had been sick. We eventually had to say our goodbyes after finding out he was dying of old age. Deciding on coming to Gulf Coast Veterinary ER was the best decision my family and I could have made. This place is customer-centric, they value all living things.
Their generosity and patience allowed us to take our time and say our goodbyes. Christine is AMAZING, she was the first person we came into contact with and the last when we left without our baby. It's not always easy making decisions when emotions are all over the place but Christine showed she understood and constantly checked on us. We weren't her only customers that day, it was actually busy. She worked the room, attended to others while consoling us the whole time with a smile. I just want to say thank you for your kindness.
