I'm sorry to have to write this review about a local, small mom and pop shop but I feel inclined to let them know how we feel about our situation. A yr and half ago we brought our cats to the office. After taking a general exam and blood work they recommended we do a more detailed panel for one our cats. We complied but the panel came back inconclusive and the doctor wanted us to seek a specialist consult.
Our personal lives and other things going on in our lives postponed us from being able to do this(our cat was not having any obvious problems at this time). Fast forward-our cat had an emergency that we sought an emergency vet in the middle of the night for. I was not confident with the eR vet diagnosis and treatment. I called the office the next day to be seen.
The receptionist told me the doctor was in surgery for 3 hours and couldn't see us and recommended we go back to the ER hospital that I wasn't happy with. I pleaded with her to ask the doctor to see us that day(I was flexible with any time) bc of the report we had with them and I wanted to get the doctors opinion. They REFUSED to see us but ALSO didn't recommend another ER vet or alternative vet! Leaving me with no other option but to find another office.
We lost our cat, and I know that is not lakesides fault(the outcome would have been the same) but I am not happy with how they kind of threw us to the wolves and didn't want to offer any other assistance. That doesn't make me very confident to go back. Just a sad situation overall.

The doctor, while knowledgeable, is loud, abrasive, and condescending. Guess which energy my cat is picking up on? It's not her intelligence. Lakeside would not give my cat her second round of shots because I did not give her anti anxiety meds. My cat has gotten shots at the humane society and was spayed at Nova Animal Hosptial, neither of them suggested she be put on pills. Lakeside left me leaving with a headache.

My little chihuahua was scared to death. I set her up for boarding. She was placed in a room, relatively small for the amount of dogs in there. The dogs ranged from German Sheppard to my chihuahua. It was very loud in there all the dogs were barking specially the large ones. They did not have a separate room for smaller dogs. It broke my heart to leave her there. I was going on a flight and did not have too many choices at the time. I will never bring any pet any size to this place. Stay away, not good especially for the little ones.

The man thought that the dog only needed one shot. He did not look carefully at the medical record the dog needed two. He was going to charge me for both I had to explain to him I had already prepaid for 1 of them. Only my 2nd visit and the shots for the vaccinations get mixed up. That's frightening. because that means I have to stay on top of what they are doing. I'm a great customer but doubt I'll go back.

Dr. Frione is beyond amazing to our babies. Benji and Nala love going to see her and her staff. Whenever we have questions or need something there are no hesitations. Although My pet was not a patient when I called with an emergency, they squeezed me in and ran the necessary tests to see if he had a bowel blockage. The doctor was extremely informative, the staff was very caring. I noticed when other patients would walk in the staff recognized them by name and their animals by name. Very personal interactions. I was in the waiting room for sometime (or yet it seem that way, especially when your dog is ill and you are anxious to hear the news) while they ran tests and was able to view the staff interacting with the animals and their owners. My pet is now a patient there. He's recovered and back to his adorable, loving, funny self.

::UPDATE:: I just want to share the pettiness of Lakeside Animal Hospital. Since my review (8 months ago) Lakeside decided to send me a "Fire Client Letter" (see photo). In this letter dated September 2, 2021 they reference my communication with their practice January 22, 2021. In this letter they also state they included "all your pet's medical records", they ONLY included the records for Sofi (not the other 3). Thankfully, their office supplied digital copies February 6, 2021 (so much for their interest in the well-being of ALL of our fur kids).
If this were a human interaction with a doctor, the doctor would have simply prescribed an additional round of antibiotics, then if the symptoms continued, the doctor would have set up an additional follow up. THIS is my continued issue. A doctors office would not reschedule after 30 days. I find it truly shocking that the Practice Manager felt the need to address any of the issues with their practice, rather than simply stating that no further prescription refills would be authorized with CHEWY.com. Pettiness begets Pettiness!

Lakeside animal hospital easily beats any other animal hospital. The service is unmatched, all of the staff is extremely accommodating, very attentive, very knowledgeable, and they are the reason why I drive from Miramar to plantation even if it's just for a nail trim lol. You can forget what someone says to you but you can't forget how they make you feel. This animal hospital always makes their clients top priority. That's a fact, not an opinion.

The people in this hospital are all so sweet and caring when it comes to the animals that come here! We've only had to visits here but Rocky is already so happy when he comes in, and is so calm thanks to the amazing people that work here! Not to mention they've helped me so much, always answering my questions and giving me helpful advice! I can tell everyone in there love the patients they take care of and their jobs! Almost makes me want to join them too!

It's a shame when a place cares more about money than the welfare of animals. My cat requires a special Hills food, (and yes I know it's by prescription only!) I explain that my Vet was out, she said Sorry and just closed the door. Luckily we found a vet that was kind enough and cared enough to call our Vet for verification and allowed us to buy 1 bag - as an emergency! Things are hard enough in the world already without having to fight with an Animal Hospital (who have an obligation to care for animals) for 1 bag of Cat Food. Geeez!

Very disappointed! We were a long time customer for more than 15 years with all of our pets. It seems to me they have been more concerned about money in the past few years and I suspected they had often recommended unnecessary treatments to pad the bill. This morning we accidently gave our dog a double dose of his pain killer medicine. I called Lakeside and explained what had happened.
They said to bring our dog in to flush out his system. I was ok with this and the price I was quoted of $55 for the visit and $60 to administer fluids. After dropping him off, I got a call from the office and was told the price would be $275. I immediately called the vet my daughter uses and told the doctor what Lakeside recommended. The doctor said the system flush was not necessary and it would wear off.
I feel they took advantage of our fear and recommended something that was unnecessary. I picked up our dog and was charged $69 for the visit, not $55. Today I decided to switch to another vet. Lakeside lost a long time customer and I will most likely spread the word of my bad experience.

DO NOT VISIT LAKESIDE ANIMAL HOSPITAL…..I’ll preface this by saying I think this may be only 1 of 2 negative reviews I’ve ever post on any company,
I’ve been long time customer at this vet & was always satisfied with their service. I recently got a new puppy so of course my first thought was to take him to Lakeside…a facility that was always great!
Unfortunately, they are now under different ownership & the tables have turned.
I used to feel like they truly cared about the pets coming into the facility but now all they want is your money. Upon first visit, I was told I could get a “package” that includes vaccines, pre & post neutering care, & the actual neutering itself for $639…seemed like a great deal! Come to find out, this was a “puppy plan” for their facility that lasts a full year & you cannot get out of (this was not disclosed to me)
Even worse, when I took my puppy to get his pre-neutering tests, they demanded something was wrong with him from the in house bloodwork they completed.
I spent $300+ on testing, visits, & unnecessary antibiotics on top of the “puppy plan”. After all that, they still claimed something was wrong & were pushing another $300 for testing. When I tried to ask the vet what could’ve caused the issue & that he seemed fine, she would only reply saying “I needed to purchase the test to find out”.
Finally, I was fed up so I did my own research & found the symptoms of the “issue” they claimed my puppy had were not eating, lethargy, etc….quite the opposite from how he behaves day to day!
I went to another reputable vet for a second opinion. Turns out…my puppy is PERFECTLY FINE!! They sucked money out of me and not only that, REFUSE to refund the remaining money for the “Puppy Plan”, which was sold to me as just vaccines & neutering.
Offering advice to any new puppy parents…DO NOT go to Lakeside Animal Hospital. There are so many vets in the area that will truly care about your pet & not just try to take more & more money from you!

I brought my cat in after a different vet had pretty much scared me into thinking my cat had hyperthyroidism, which was causing him to loose weight, they had told me I needed to do all these extra tests and what not. Keep in mind my cat is 16 years old, putting my cat thru that is not something i want to do especially at his age. I decided to bring him to Lakeside after a friend had recommended.
I was very happy with the honesty and the fact that they were not pushy at all. After a basic test, they said he is not hyperthyroid at all. 2 weeks later I had to bring him back, he had a urinary tract infection. He is better now, but I again appreciated the doctors honesty that he looked good at his new weight and not to worry about his weight loss. my previous vet made me feel like they were always trying to up sell me and add on at every appointment. with special food, drugs etc. Thank you, Lakeside for being honest and caring about my old man cat Charlie.

Times are stressful enough with the Covid-19 epidemic, but both of our dogs got ear infections. With their protocol in place, they came to our truck and treated one dog for a follow-up from last week. They took the other dog inside and packed his ear and prescribed pain medicine. All while making us feel comfortable and safe with social distancing. They care for both pets and their owners! What a great place!

Considering all pandemic wise our appointment was great. The staff met me at the car. They took Gizmo and the doctor did her assessment my dog. During the appointment she called me each step along the way. They always give the pet parent an estimate prior to any procedures. Hot everything I needed scripts my dog and off we went. Great veterinary group. The owner is a woman which makes it all the sweeter.

Didn't have the best experience here, dog had been attacked was bleeding and these guys weren't much help. They're in it for the money, I took care of the wound myself and was able to get helpful advice from another vet. My pups fine and I saved $600 by not using lakeside. I moved to Austin a couple months ago, I lived in plantation florida when I visited your lakeside. I had forgotten to leave a review before and yelp reminded me.

We were in town, traveling from Colorado, and our pooch was having some problems. I called Lakeside, and they were so accommodating! They got us in very quickly, and we had a wonderful experience. The staff was incredibly sweet and caring. The vet was knowledgeable, sharp, fast, and excellent at communicating everything. The facility is unbelievably clean, and doesn't smell like a Vet office at all! My dog felt comfortable and at ease throughout the entire visit. I really couldn't be happier with our experience at Lakeside.

We drive quite a distance, passing several other Veterinarian offices along the way, to get to Lakeside---for a very GOOD reason: we completely trust Dr. Frione and staff with the care of our two hugely-important-to-us elderly felines. Another reason: Liz Daughtry, the highly skilled, patient, kind and gentle groomer who provides our elderly, mega-fuzzy Maine Coon, EmmyLoo, with what we call her "happy cut, " because after having most of her abundant coat sheered, dear Emmy is abundantly happier. And then so are we. We will continue to make the long drive, and highly recommend this facility.

I have to let Dr. Bahr and the staff know how much we appreciated the guidance and the emotional support Saturday when we made the very difficult decision on our 15 year old Scottish Terrier Lady. This just popped up on my fb page, i don't even live in this city anymore, but have such high regard for this practice. Approximately 5 years ago our dachshund had been run over and needed an xray and determine what to do. We had no money for a few days until payday, i was so distraught, my husband out of town and my kids crying. I called our regular family vet in Wellborn and explained our desperate situation.
I sat on the phone for the wife of the Dr to remind me they needed pymt upfront and why, she told me all about the bills of the practice and just sunk me further into my horrible situation. We called Lakeside, they had never heard of us and told us to bring him in right away, they took a check that i asked them to please deposit on Thursday and they graciously did. I will never forget there calm gracious offer, our dog Rufus is on my lap right now. That is a real testament to this office.

There have been times when I've been frustrated by Lakeside. They have a process and it can creep along if a client is there, for example, to buy a specialty pet food and there is not a staffer free to receive animals for vet services or boarding. That said, our experience with Lakeside with the hard choice of putting a pet down because of illness was incredibly sensitive and supportive.
All the staff knew that is what we were there for and they knew Spot from repeated boardings over the years. The doctor made all of us comfortable and allowed this to be as personal an experience as one wanted it to be. Later, we received a sympathy card from all the staff. I recommend Lakeside.

Yesterday we had the had the scare of our life,Iceberg had major complications do to a heat stroke. He’s not just a pet but a beloved family member,he was damn near lifeless. Dr. Saporito and all the staff at Lakeside Animal Hospital, my little min pin "Roo" needed surgery on her rear legs. I know it was traumatic for her, but it was also very upsetting for me. As usual, we were treated with kindness and respect. After the surgery, I received follow-up calls every day for about 10 days. my own doctor wouldn't have done this.
I knew that I could call if there were any problems and would be able to come into the office right away. This was not necessary. Everything went very smoothly. The most amazing part was the follow-up, I thought that "Roo" would be reluctant to go back into the office again. Not so. When we get out of the car, she can't wait to get inside. This is because of the kind and gentle care she received. So I want to thank you all and wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving & Holiday Season.
