REDUCING PAIN: The laser beam seals nerve endings as it cuts through tissue. This reduces the amount of pain the patient feels during and after surgery. Suffolk Veterinary Group also practices multi-modal pain management for all our surgical patients so that they experience as little pain as possible before, during, and after their procedure.
REDUCING BLEEDING: The laser beam cauterizes and seals small blood vessels as it cuts. This laser energy achieves hemostasis and provides the surgeon with a bloodless surgical field in most procedures. Cauterized blood vessels are less likely to re-open after a surgical procedure, and heal faster.
REDUCING SWELLING: There is no physical contact between the laser and the surgical region, eliminating the tearing and bruising of tissue associated with traditional scalpel surgical methods. Lymphatic vessels are also sealed. This also helps reduce the pain associated with surgical sites and decreases the chance of additional bleeding.
REDUCING INFECTION: Laser energy acts as an antibacterial agent by producing high temperatures, effectively eliminating microorganisms at the surgical site. Gold-standard aspeptic surgical techniques, sterile fields created by a gowned and masked surgical team, an aseptically scrubbed surgical suite and equipment, and completely individualized and autoclaved surgical trays also protect your pet from infection while they are undergoing a surgical procedure.
FASTER RECOVERY: As a result of all of the above, laser surgery provides the benefit of a quicker recovery for your pet. A majority of our surgical procedures are done on an out-patient basis, so your pet can go home on the same day.

Dr. Winkler is absolutely amazing. He is kind, gentle, compassionate and patient with his pet patients and their humans. He is thorough and answers any questions you have and you never feel rushed. He was there for me at the end of two of my dogs and went above and beyond to support me. You won't regret bringing your pets here. Staff is wonderful too!

Dr. Winkler and staff were professional and very informative regarding the Auscuelight laser procedure for BOAS and snares. My 6 year old Cavalier Shayna had the procedure yesterday and is doing fantastic (knock wood). She is eating and doing her usual business and no complications have arisen (thank God) I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. Winkler for any laser procedures (especially if your dog snores). The Olsen Family

Dr. Winkler has treated 5 cats and now a puppy of mine and I can't say more great things about him and his practice. I have experienced nearly all of his services. Spay/neuter, laser therapy, emergency visits, wellness visits and euthanizing 2 of my cats. It's been 9 years since I first found Dr. & Mrs. Winkler and I can say with confidence you will not be disappointed with their level of care and compassion. Thank you guys for taking such good care of our family members!

We came to the Suffolk Veterinary Group from out of state because we knew Dr. Winkler specialized in laser surgery and thought it to be the best option for the BOAS and neuter surgery for our French Bulldog, Cassius. What we didn't know, was how amazing Dr. Winkler and his staff would be! We were apprehensive to have the surgery performed at first because of the nature of the procedure, however, Dr. Winkler quelled our fears with his expertise and calm demeanor.
The surgery went well and we were/are very pleased with the results. Even when we had our concerns about the healing process, Dr. Winkler always made himself available to all of our phone calls and emails for several weeks post surgery. He also communicated frequently with our primary veterinarian. Cassius has more energy now and is breathing and sleeping much better thanks to Dr. Winkler and staff!

I have an Akita who is almost 2. My Chloe gets so excited to see the girls and Dr. Winkler every visit. Dr. Winkler and his staff are very caring and knowledgeable. I love how comfortable she is, which I'm sure any Akita owner understands. Pricing is very fair, I recommend everyone to take their pets here!

We are very fortunate to have found Suffolk Veterinary Group. We wanted to find an alternative to major surgery for our 10 year old dog, Chester. Dr. WInkler explained the options, risks and recovery. He performed laser surgery on Chester and the results far exceeded our expectations. Dr. Winkler, Nicole (his wife and veterinary technician), Liz (veterinary assistant) and Brianna (receptionist), are always welcoming and sincerely caring. We are grateful for the care at Suffolk Veterinary Group and Chester certainly doesn't mind the treats they give him!

Dr.Winkler and his staff were amazing with our dog, Dexter. Our dog had entropion, and needed immediate surgery on his eye because he was in so much pain. We went in for our initial consultation, and Dr.Winkler immediately knew his condition, and even found ingrown eyelashes and an ulcer in his eye! We scheduled an appointment to get surgery done for Dexter for two weeks later. However, a few days after his consultation, we noticed that he was very uncomfortable.
This concerned us, because we didn't want him in any more pain than he already was. We called Dr.Winkler, and he said to bring him in the next morning, and he would perform the surgery right away!
Dexter was his first surgery the following morning, and we were able to pick our puppy up by noon! The staff displayed extraordinary compassion toward our dog, and were so incredibly eager to help us and him. They are truly such caring people, and it made me happy to know that he was in such good hands. I would absolutely, without a doubt, recommend him and his team.
