We were at the vet for over an hour. The wait was extremely long, and the process felt very rushed when they discussed things with us. When we finally received the invoice, it seemed like the vet added all of these extra items just to make extra money. We went for a simple ear infection and they tried to bill us $350 for testing, steroids, and all of these items that felt were not needed. Finally, our dog is a nervous dog, he has been through a lot with transitioning to a new country, and what dog likes the vet? Well, he suggested we had a nervous dog and they needed to muzzle him, and stated that we should be careful with him around children. Meanwhile, at our other vet he never needed to be muzzled, they were very transparent with the treatment process, it did not take an hour of our time. Also, our dog does great around kids & judging a nervous dog at the vet's behavior is unprofessional.

Do not under any circumstances use this vet to care for any of your animals, especially guinea pigs, small animals or any other exotics they claim to be able to care for. My guinea pig Alfie had already been seen and established as a patient at this facility. I called them Friday the 23rd first thing in the morning to let them know my guinea pig had stopped eating overnight and was being syringe fed and was lethargic and asked to come in.
Anyone who knows anything about guinea pigs knows if they are not eating this is a medical emergency. I was told I could come in at 3:45 but there might still be a wait by Jennifer. I made the appointment and continued to care for my guinea pig at home. By noon I realized she was at the end of her life and since she was a very old guinea pig I called again and asked on the phone if we could please come in so she could be made comfortable, I specifically said “she is at the end of her life” to Ryan on the phone.
I was told the best they could do was 3:15. She died at 2pm.
Thankfully I had pain medication that my previous vet had given me for her. I had to leave my previous vet because we moved to this area. So I know she was as comfortable as she could be at home. I just wanted to bring her in that day so she could be humanly euthanized but now seeing how they treat patients I’m sure they would have messed that up too.
I was called again by Jennifer that day around 4pm and informed her of Alfies passing and that I had already called earlier asking for help. Then I get another call today from Megan asking to bring Alfie in for a check up.
THEY CANT EVEN UPDATE THEIR RECORDS CORRECTLY THEY WERE TOLD SHE PASSED AWAY ALREADY ON THE DAY SHE DIED. Thank you guys for helping with my mourning process by calling me and asking to bring her in for a check up. Where was that sense of urgency when I was asking for help? Do not ever bring your pets here. Drive all the way down to LA if you have to but do not come here.

After 10+ years at another Vet in Simi Valley, we decided to give American Veterinary a try with our new pup. Dr Cruz and team were amazing at every visit with the new pup. Appointments were on time, staff were friendly and efficient with awesome customer service. Dr. Cruz is extremely caring, knowledgeable, and down to earth. Not once did we feel like just a transaction. Which was one of a few reason why we decided to switch vets. Overall, just a great experience.

I was worried about my guinea pigs feet and wanted to make sure he didn't have any infections of some sort and I called the minute they opened. I wanted an appointment ASAP, the phone was immediately answered and they had no appointments available after I got off work, I was told they could call me if they got a cancellation for that day and we set up an appointment on Monday, just in case.
I received a call just an hour later saying they got a cancellation and could see my guinea later that day. They brought us in very fast, they were efficient, obviously knew what they were doing and how to handle it as needed. :D Definitely will be taking my animals here for any future visits they may need!

Dr. Cruz and the entire staff is amazing! We have a bit of a difficult cat (he's big and mean to strangers but amazing with us). We've been to other vet's that haven't treated him very well, and have been hesitant to take him to a vet again. But EVERYONE at American Vet Hospital was amazing! They were patient with us and treated our boy well. Dr. Cruz is calm, sweet with all animals, and the nurses were so kind and understanding. I wish I knew everyone's name to thank them properly.but Blimps and his family thanks you guys!

Dr Cruz and American Veterinary has been caring for my now 11 year English Springer Spaniel since she was a puppy. They have been so very attentive, thorough, professional, and caring, every step of the way - from wellness checks, surgeries, dental care, boo boos, and diagnostics. It has always been a pleasure to work with Dr Cruz, the vet techs, and front/back office staff. And I look forward to many more years of American Veterinary Hospital caring for my sweet girl
