I have been taking my dogs to CAH for years and will continue to but I have a few grievances. For one, the turnover time for bloodwork. Many vets and emergency clinics are now able to process bloodwork in house same day. Doing so allows for an immediate discussion to happen on the spot, which is particularly helpful with an old sick dog with issues and medication management. CAH's services and fees cost enough so I would encourage them to invest in the technology to do so. VEG in WP has it and they are pretty new, CAH should have the financial resources to invest and bring their technology up to speed.
The other thing I'd say is the lack of apt availability in a timely manner. I'd rather my dogs see their vet with concerns, but lately I've had to take them to VEG instead of waiting days to see their primary vet. When a dog is sick, waiting can be life or death, it's disappointing they cannot accommodate urgently needed appointments. Lastly, their continued covid protocol of waiting in the car is well outdated at this point.
The rest of the world is now business as usual. If I go to a human doctor's office, I sit in the waiting room next to other people. People have a choice to be vaxxed and masked, but the distance restrictions are no longer necessary. Make it a choice for people who prefer that, but they need to move on. They don't even want you in the exam room with them, they make you sit in the doorway. I have medical issues and am at different doctors regularly.their protocol is beyond absurd at this juncture.

They are amazing. I highly recomend them. My doctor there is Alison Abramson, she saved the life of the dog of one of my friends so I took there a very ill dog of a disabled woman who couldn't go herself and Dr Abramson did her magic again and she saved the dog. She's doing great. They are very nice people who care about animals. Five stars for them. I am very grateful.

So far, so good. Had to bring my two indoor cats for shots and check ups. This is a new vet for us, the last vet sold us outdated medicine (yes, we could've checked, but we bought it from the vet.) My cats have a parent who is feral, so they're not exactly lap cats, so getting to the vet is a tough, anxiety raising slog. They both seem better afterwards than when we brought them to the old vet, so we'll see

I recently brought my new puppy there, I love Dr. Gross, she was very thorough. The next day the puppy had to go in for A problem she was having, we saw Dr. Cohen, she seemed good too. Dr. Woltz called me with my puppies results over the holiday weekend which I was happy about. I think this veterinary practice has become very expensive, unfortunately, this may cause me to look elsewhere.

We have come to Central Animal Hospital a few times and each time has always been a pleasure. We had friends that recommended Central Animal Hospital and it was a great choice. During Covid, the pet owners waited outside for their pets to be checked and as we were new, we spoke to several pet parents and they highly recommended it and said they received great services and the doctors and staff were very caring. Glad we made the choice to come here

I called Central Animal Hospital and got put on hold for 20 minutes. I hung up and dialed again as I thought my call had been forgotten about, upon calling again I was asked if I could hold, I explained I had already been put on hold for 20 minutes. The receptionist rudely replied "We are trying our best!" and continued to click the hold button without even asking if this was an emergency.
I stayed on hold for a whole again until the receptionist picked up and asked what I needed. I explained that I needed records for a pet sent to me. When looking up the pet, the receptionist told me that they had only been to this hospital once. I said that it was fine but I still needed the records, she continued to insist that they really had nothing from the one time this pet had been there.
I said I still would like the records sent to me. She rudely said "fine, I will send them" without asking for an email address. So I asked her if she would like an email address that she could send the records to. Overall bad experience.

My family has been a client of Central Animal Hospital since I was young. Now, 45 years later, I am still going there even though I moved to Rockland County. From front line staff, to assistants, techs, and doctors, service has always been the best. My numerous pets and I continue to be grateful for their care.

I was told by a few ppl this was such a gr8 place and gr8 vets. gr8 example of just bc something is very expensive doesn't mean its good! They are very expensive and i was extremely disappointed in the dr and staff. I was rushed by the vet, and only given no more a 5 minute visit. ( On 3 occasions) main reason i am writing this poor review is i had asked for help with my pet insurance and staff and dr gross with my pet insurance really just didn't eant to help.
I am so happy i changed vets (county animal clinic in Yonkers). Maybe bc this vet is in scarsdale and richer area, they get away with their crappy service. Very dissatisfied customer, and wish i never had gone there. There are dozens of better vets in the area.

Dr Woltz is our veterinarian. He is wonderful. He's very relaxed and very friendly. He is extremely knowledgeable and explains things as he goes. He doesn't recommend extra blood test, X-rays, etc. unless he 100% thinks they are necessary. So you are not paying for things you may not need at that time. He's honest and very engaging.

I have been a licensed veterinary technologist for over eight years who has worked in anesthesia and emergency and critical care and am heartbroken over the loss of my family dog at the hands of Central Animal Hospital and greatly disturbed by how Dr. Gross spoke to my mother as she grieved the death of our dog, Rufus. My father called me on September 28th to let me know that he and my mother had picked up Rufus from Central Animal Hospital in extreme respiratory distress, after he boarded there for six days while we were on a family vacation.
My parents had taken him immediately to the emergency vet and Rufus was likely going to be intubated. My father said when the kennel attendant handed Rufus to them, he was gasping for air, but no information about his condition was given to them. My mother had spoken to Dr. Gross earlier that morning who told her that Rufus was not eating well, had some nasal discharge, and had some diarrhea.
My mother explained that Rufus, who has had chronic rhinitis since 2016, regularly has nasal discharge and that she had scheduled him an appointment with Cornell University Veterinary Specialists that following week to work on his rhinitis. Dr. Gross told her, ok and she would have the front desk forward his record to CUVS. At no point did she communicate to my mother that she believed he was in severe distress or that his condition was emergent.
At VEG Rufus was intubated, and I spoke with the with doctor in charge of his care who let me know that when Rufus presented at VEG he was beyond distressed, about to fatigue (go into respiratory arrest) and how very grave his prognosis was and that he was going to require transfer to a specialty hospital for mechanical ventilation. As a family we elected to euthanize him.
I facetimed him and told him what a very good boy he was, how much I loved him, thanked him for all the amazing cuddle and said goodbye. When my mother spoke with Dr. Gross she cruelly accused my mother of denying Rufus appropriate medical care by saying she had informed my mother that Rufus was in distress (she did not informed her of this), and told my mother that it was wrong of her to board Rufus at his age, implying that if he had not been boarded this would not have happened.
She was unsympathetic during a time when she simply should have expressed sympathy from the loss of my family's beloved companion. I am truly disgusted by how my mother was spoken to and horrified and heartbroken to know that my beloved family dog died gasping for air. I cannot more strongly caution people to stay away from this hospital. As a veterinary professional I feel personally and professionally betrayed by how both Rufus and my family was treated

The Doctors are all very experienced and show an abundance of compassion for the pets and the owners. The technicians are well trained extremely professional and caring. The administrative staff are warm, friendly and will do everything they can to help you. I highly recommend Central Animal Hospital.

This animal hospital is extremely expensive and for absolutely no reason whatsoever! was recommended by someone to use this hospital and extremely disappointed with the vet, and the overall experience. To make matters worse my pet insurance reached out to them a few times and they were uncooperative to help me get reimbursed. I now switched vets and I'm very happy to do so

I am so disappointed. I have been going to this vet for ten years or so with all my animals. I loved the staff and the doctors are very knowledgeable but I called to get my cat seen because she has asthma and needs a steroid shot which I have done for the past several years without issue. I was told I could not get an appointment until 3 days out and I asked if I could just bring her in for the shot that day like I always did.
I was told the Dr. could see her but there would be a $135 emergency fee. I know that they are overwhelmed and do not have the staff to accommodate the clients (as are proven in the wait times to be seen even when you have an appointment), but that is ridiculous. In my opinion, they have become a factory not concerned about the animals but only concerned about how much money they can get. Unfortunately, I have moved my animals to another vet. I do believe they were one of the best vet practices at one time but I do not believe that now.

I brought my 2 new kittens in Central Animal Hospital because a friend recommended them. I'm so happy I did. The ladies at the front desk are very kind and helpful. Dr Woltz and Dr Gross are especially warm and caring doctors. Joe, the technician handled my babies with TLC. This is a wonderful place to take your pets to.

We've been taking our dogs to Central for over 20 years. When I called yesterday the receptionist was rude, but was very clear in the fact that the fee for emergency care would be an additional $205. I was very disappointed at her lack of care abs concern. Needless to say we're looking for another vet.

I guess other posters whose pets were seen right away, for an emergency, must not have called on a day when there were allegedly no appointments for anyone - including a client of 10+years. I was told to go elsewhere for my emergency, ironically another practice (started by former vets from this location) offered to have me bring my dog and leave him until a doctor became available to see him, too bad I was not offered the same courtesy here.

I have been taking my dog to Central Animal Hospital since we got her as a puppy (she's almost 6 now). At first we loved this vets office (despite the fact that they overcharge for EVERYTHING), but unfortunately the service here has steadily declined throughout our last few visits, to the point that after the last visit we will not be returning.
Our dog had a very swollen paw, we took her in and they did blood work and X-rays. $420 later just to tell us they didn't know what was wrong with her. After finishing the antibiotics that they prescribed for her foot, she developed soft stools, for which the vet prescribed a probiotic, unbeknownst to us the probiotic had an ingredient in it that our dog was allergic too.
This was NOT caught by the vet, despite the fact that she's been seen since a puppy and the allergy has been told to the office numerous times. When I called to let them know that our dog was suffering an allergic reaction (I never thought to check the probiotic for chicken as an ingredient) I received no apologies for the error and was told they could prescribe a different probiotic at MY COST.
The least this office could have done is comp'd the cost of the 2nd probiotic since the first one should have never been prescribed to begin with. Beware, this office has become a place that functions like a factory and treats your pet like a commodity and not an animal. We will not be back.

I'm fairly new to this practice and have some concerns. My first puppy was there last fall and things went smoothly. With my new puppy, things seemed to have changed, prices have been increased. The first thing that I dislike is that they charge your credit card before they tell you how much the charges will be. I have explicitly asked twice that they call me before they run the card.
If they can make you wait in the car for several minutes, they can take the time to call you and also give you a receipt onsite when they return your pet. Either they should provide a cost schedule for routine costs or they should let you know ahead of time. I don't allow any place to have carte blanche with my credit card. It comes across as slightly dishonest. Also, the amount of shots required for puppies seems to have increased from last fall.
I was told I needed to have an additional set of shots though my puppy had the first set before I picked him up from the breeder -- I provided proof of vaccination. It seems they will charge you for everything they possibly can so you have to be careful. Most recently I received a letter in the mail with a baggie for a fecal test for my puppy. He's had 2 fecal tests in 2 months!
Why would he need a 3rd? There is nothing wrong with my puppy. This comes across as trolling for dollars. You can bet that everything they recommend for your puppy, that they try to get you to buy from them, has at least a 30% markup. Don't buy from them, use Chewy or Amazon. Once He has his final set of puppy shots, I'm finished with them.

They mostly run on time. Solid, clear communication. Convenient hours. Extremely forgiving cancellation policy. Competent doctors who answer questions patiently and expertly. Friendly, professional, caring, responsive, helpful support staff. I was lucky enough to find this practice during the pandemic, and I've made them my family practice. I have a dog and two cats and am thankful to have a practice I can trust with their care.

I have very mixed feelings about this vet. I like how easily it is to get an appointment due to the numerous amounts of doctors who work there. I also like how the parking lot is set up due to covid but I am not convinced that these are the best doctors in the area. I've seen two different doctors for the same issue with my pet and both doctors said something completely different.
This makes me worried. Also, this vet is very over priced. When I need certain tests done, I go to another vet where the cost is lower if it is for something that isn't time sensitive. I go to this vet for convenience since it is near where I live and easy to get an appointment but I know I need to look else where. Also, the ladies at the front desk never pass my message to the doctor and I have a hard time getting them to send a prescription to Chewy (where meds are a lot cheaper).

DO NOT GO HERE. I REPEAT DO NOT GO HERE. My dog was sick- she was not eating and she was feeling lethargic and so we took her to central animal hospital because she was a patient here previously having gotten her shots here. Not only did we wait a long time after making an appointment but they took her in for a really long time. Afterward, one of the vets came up to me and told me that they didn't know what was wrong with her.
But they gave her an iv and so she would be ready once it was finished. The bill came out to a couple of hundred of $$$ dollars for them not having done anything. They didn't know what was wrong and that was the answer I was given which was extremely not helpful. They told me to bring her back if she still wasn't feeling well. But anyways took her home and a couple days later she was in such bad condition.
She was crying, throwing up and looked like she was in so much pain. Before central animal hospital was even opened, we waited in the parking lot and rushed her in as soon as we saw some vets arriving in the morning. She was in the hospital the whole day and we didn't know what was wrong. Later on, they did an x-ray and we were told she had an infection.
We thought she was going to be fine but hours passed and the vets eventually told us her heart stopped and she died. The whole process was terrible. Maybe if the vets had actually done their job the first time we brought her maybe she could have lived. But no, they sent her home after giving her only an iv and telling us to come back if she wasn't feeling well.
It was horrifying to hear the news that she didn't make it. But lets be honest, they didn't do anything. The worst part was after we saw her body and cried our eyes out, they had the audacity to just hand us the bill as if nothing happened. It was close to $3,000! Let me tell you, we were charged for the dumbest things. It's not like our dog was given surgery or anything.they charged us for CPR and a bunch of crap that made no sense.
They were so unapologetic. and I hated that they just handed us the bill like that after we had just seen her dead body. Literally, nowadays I feel like vets and these places are ripping people off and trying to make money. We payed $3,000 for our dead dog. I'm not even joking, I'm telling you this place does not care about you and your dog.
They only care about making money and ripping people off. I regret bringing my dog here. Should have taken her somewhere else, maybe she could have survived. We specifically brought her to the vet days before when she got sick and the least they could have done was tell us what was wrong with her before her condition got worse. Worst decision. I'm telling you, you should look for a different place. I've read other comments down below saying similar things. ** In response to the owner's comment down below.
It is not an error, I live in Rye Brook which is 15-20 minutes away from Central Animal Hospital. And this incident happened a little over a year ago. So please don't assume that this didn't happen at Central animal hospital just because it didn't happen a couple of weeks ago. That is not how you respond to someone who lost their dog at your animal hospital due to your negligence.

When visiting a vet you want a few things - Simplicity (don't make this hard!) Punctuality (be on time. we all hate waiting) Friendliness (to me and my pup) Fair prices (who doesn't love to save money?) These folks provide all this! The measure taken for COVID were well thought out and easy to adhere to. They took care of my pup and were transparent when pricing mattered (i.e., for certain treatments) and overall pricing was more than fair for the area. Will come back.

As you may expect there are times you may have to visit Central Animal Hospital and it is t expected to be pleasant. Our dog Princess was not feeling well at all. She has been having issues we never experienced before. We had went to another local vet in the Bronx and was highly disappointed. I called CAH on a Saturday morning and explained we were scared our pup and they gave a appointment right away.
When you arrive, you must park in a marked parking space and call the main number. A staff member will come out and get your pet. You wait in the lot and the doctor will call you and perform visit with you on the phone. Dr Pagan was polite, well spoken and you can tell she knew what she spoke of. We left we new medication and Princess has been slowly back to normal. Truly grateful for the entire CAH staff and their extraordinary Dr. Pagan.

Pagan.

This was my first time coming to this Vet. It was recommend by my girlfriend who also brought her cats here as well. The experience was great. You park in any of their parking spots and call them up and you let them know either the letter or number spot you are in and they come out and bring your pet inside. They do this because of the corona pandemic and to not get any of the animals sick inside.
I was new to all this so they do bring out a form for you to fill out and then the doctor calls you up before they bring your pet inside. The receptionists all the way to the doctors are extremely nice and patient. Fantastic customer service. Once the doctor checks out your pet. They give you a call letting you know how they are doing health wise and going over the plan of what shots they need, etc. then they bring back your pet to you. It was very easy and quick. I highly recommend coming here! I will be back to bring my cat for her yearly check ups!

The veterinarians at Central Animal Hospital are very proficient and skilled. However their front desk scheduling is abysmal. Add an hour to any appointment they give you. I am going to look for another veterinarian as every time I have gone to Central Animal Hospital recently I have experienced long wait times despite arriving on time for my let's appointment.

I had a 3.5 month old English Bulldog, and had to take the dog to Central Animal hospital due prolapsed nictitating membrane (cherry eye). Dog can go blind if untreated. I had no issues with my puppy and brought dog immediately to vet once I observed the cherry eyes on my puppy. At this vet office, the vet had the assistant grab my pup and they attempted to wash his face.
The assistant then said she needed to go to the back without us. A few minutes passed and the assistant rushed back to inform us that the dog fainted, but was okay. Several more minutes passed and the assistant came back more concerned and has started to give the puppy oxygen. Then the office attempted to have me sign papers and waivers for for some treatment plan.
I refused and was allowed to see my puppy in the back, my wife and I were distraught, the puppy of no more than a 1.5 pounds was shacking uncontrollably and vomiting blood! The dog needed to be on oxygen so we could not take him right away, when we were allowed to recover our puppy we rushed him to Ketonah Animal hospital, but it was too late, he passed while at the hospital.
Later in the week, because of my confusion, depression and shock I requested to see a video of what transpired at Central Animal Hospital. Observed that the assistant put a restrictive mussel on my puppy and even when he fainted because he was having trouble breathing they did not remove the mussel. The first thing you do in EMT or life saving steps is to remove anything blocking someone's airway!
This Animal hospital is dangerous and irresponsible! Beware, do not take your pet there if you love them. They even had the audacity to try and bill us as soon as this happened, very unprofessional location. Save your pet and go elsewhere.

Not happy with the treatment of my dog at the end of her life. Instead of recommending to put her down and letting her pass away with some dignity they made me leave to take her to a 24 hour hospital. As soon as we were leaving she was gasping for air and the staff blamed it on the way I was holding her.essentially she suffocated to death in her fluid. Unethical! Would not recommend this place, no compassion.just want the money!

I chose Central to board my cat mainly because they have someone in the building 24/7. Unless you make a separate arrangement they don't tend to your pet after hours but just finding a place with someone there was so important and next to impossible. When I took my boy for the initial exam the vet, tech and staff were great. My cat is extremely nervous and the tech calmed him down so much.
The vet was great, didn't seem to be looking for problems to make more $. Anyone who has dealt with Westchester gets knows all about that. Their fees were so reasonable too. Less than $80 for the office visit/exam and $33 per night to board. They actually spend time talking to you, gave me a run down of how my cat was during the 4 days he boarded, it's very obvious they care about the animals and give them a lot of individual attention.
I was able to bring his food, bowls and blanket from home, which other places I've boarded him didn't allow. I felt very comfortable leaving my neurotic, weird and nervous cat with them, especially during a stressful family time. I think we'll be using them as our regular vet from now on, too. Thank you, Central Animal Hospital, for taking such good care of my boy during such a stressful time!

They were really nice with my cat and the people at the front desk were very nice. However I asked the vet how much the total amount would be. He gave me one price but the out cone was much more. I wanted to know how much everything would cost total and the amounts did not match. I was not prepared to pay that amount. The woman at the front desk said she would cancel the test so I'd only pay for the exam which was thoughtful but I did not put my cat through that just to not have the results cause of cost. In short although the people are nice there make sure you get the price before you go in cause that was very unprofessional.

My dog just died (before we could arrive to the vet's hospital), but before he did we always took him here. Dr. Woltz always was great with him. He had a genuine love of animals you could tell and was very good with him. My dad and his dog will continue to go there. I would highly recommend this place.

I used to work across the street from Central Animal Hosptial, so after being dissatisfied with our old vet we decided to give them a try. After parking in the "barking lot" you enter into the main waiting area - it's not a big place but doesn't feel cramped. The staff is friendly and good with the animals - you can tell they know what they're doing. I've been there a few times now and with every visit all of the staff has been professional, knowledgable, and friendly.
They also have a good stock of pet meds so if you're in need of something odds are they have it. I'm glad I made the switch - I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good veterinarian.

Took my dog in to get his swollen foot looked at today and got to meet the lovely Dr. Blum. She examined him and loved on him as if he was her own dog. She spoke to me about all my options and we decided on a treatment plan. By far the best vet experience i have ever had with any pet. Couldn't ask for a more caring and knowledgeable Dr. I will never take my peta to anyone else!

We love Central Animal Hospital! After our 11 year old dog, Keeno, was hurt and we discovered that he needed TTA surgery, we came to Central Animal Hospital, even though we live about 1.5 hours north! After visiting another animal hospital, they had told us that we would need to wait almost two weeks for a consultation, not even surgery, and we didn't want to delay the process since our dog was already in pain and unable to walk!
After researching and finding Central, we called them and they were able to see us within that same day, and fit Keeno in for surgery 1.5 days later! The whole process with them and has been seamless. Keeno is now on the road to recovery and we genuinely thank the amazing team - from the staff at the front desk and the remarkable vet tech, Cheryl, to Keeno's incredible doctor, Dr. Aura Truslow.
Everyone at Central showed both my husband and I, and more importantly, Keeno, a tremendous amount of care and love, and we will always be grateful for their hard work, reassurance, and wonderful, high-quality care. We love them and would recommend them to anyone looking for wonderful veterinary services! Thank you, to the entire staff!

I cannot say enough about how nice the staff at Central Animal Hospital are! From the receptionists to the doctors, they are top notch. They follow up, even after hours, always make time in their schedule to fit you in. We've had to take my kitten in a few times since we've gotten her and each time the doctors and staff put me at ease.
