Yarmouth Veterinary Center

On Monday morning just after YVC opened the vet I was speaking with at MVMC called to assist me in finding a vet that could do an emergency pyometra spay & YVC was the only vet out of about 20-25 that squeezed my Abbi into their already busy schedule and saved her life. Had they not gone above & beyond by fitting us in and for a much more reasonable price, I would have lost my Princess.

All the staff were friendly, accommodating, professional & so kind. The Dr thoroughly explained how surgery went, what to do during recovery and healing & any signs to watch for that would warrant a return visit or concern. The Tech who cared for & brought Abbi out to me was so gentle & loving to her & loved on her lots before saying goodbye. They even gave her rabies vaccine and trimmed her nails for us!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this facility. I will never go anywhere with my pets, YVC has found themselves several new lifelong patients! Thank you Dr. Smith and all of the wonderful staff, because of you our Abbi is home with us again, on the road to recovery & will continue to live a long, happy & healthy life! Abbi is doing great & so happy to be back home!

Came in on Tuesday to diagnose some issues with my Guinea pig, Willard, not eating as well as he usually is. They diagnosed the problem within a few hours and got the recommended dental surgery the very next day. All of the staff were super friendly, giving me cool places around Yarmouth to get a bite and hike. Brian behind the front desk was helpful and everyone including Dr. Smith seemed very caring and took great care of little Willard!

If you want caring and knowledgeable people taking care of your pets, Yarmouth Veterinary Center is an excellent place to go! Because of my particular concerns, they took me in immediately and promptly took care of my baby, Buster! A great group to deal with. Thank you!

Comfortable atmosphere, great with my pets. Really appreciate the helpful advice and the vet calling me personally after they check my pets.

My first impression when entering was that of a very rude receptionist. Pretty sure his name was Brian and he was borderline nasty as far as I am concerned. I personally have no use for people like that or any desire to deal with them. The vet was professional and thorough and covered what I was there for. Still will look for other more friendly options should I be in need of vet services in the future.

Great practice! We are traveling through the area and they got us in for health certificates that we didn't know we needed for further travel within a day! Unheard of in these short staffed times. Really nice staff too

Just moved to the area and was worried about finding an Exotics Specialist familiar with sugar gliders. Coming from east Tennessee where E.S. are in abundance and having UT Veterinary accessible 24/7, our very first visit to Yarmouth was a huge sigh of relief. It was very evident that Dr. Zach was very competent in his knowledge of gliders but observing him during a wellness exam, it was also very obvious that he was adept at carefully handling gliders properly and has had plenty of experience with the species.

The entire staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome as if we had been long time clients/patients. We also brought one of our cats in for a wellness exam as well and Dr Zach handled her by himself with no issues from our usually fussy senior girl. Just from one visit in a new area, I can't recommend Yarmouth Veterinary Center enough. I have every confidence that every pet would be in the best of care from each Dr there as well as the staff.

So far so good. Yarmouth Vet was willing to get a neonatal kitten in for an upper respiratory infection. Yes she had to be there from about 9:30 am until almost 4:00 pm and I was anxious to pick her up so she could nurse again. I have found alot of vets won't see neonatal kittens because they don't know if the kitten will actually survive. Pumpkin has perked up completely.

She's even inhaling her food, she's been that hungry. I have to take her bowl every so often so she slows down. Hoping all future appointments, and there will be lots of them go just as smooth.

Our baby is 33 years old and has never been ill. When he woke up with one eye shut tight ON A SUNDAY, we could not find an avian vet available north of Boston. Monday morning we called and were told to bring him down. They were very busy but guaranteed they would see him. The doctor called within an hour and Peaches was there another 3 hours getting bloodwork and being evaluated. And TODAY (Thursday) they called to see how he was doing (he is recovering nicely). They are wonderful, friendly and caring. I am so happy we found them.

I love Yarmouth Vet Center and all the staff and doctors I met are amazing. I needed an international travel certificate and the professionalism they showed me in getting everything done in time was out of this world. I got several calls and emails from them helping me through this difficult task. I have done this in other places 6 times before and this was the easiest and best experience I have ever had. When I first went here, my pup was 5 months old and LOVED people. She loved strangers, both people and dogs. But after the very first vet tech interaction, she has become incredibly fearful of any and all vet visits. The vet tech was a large individual who walked straight at my dog, who then started to back away. The vet tech continues walking straight at my clearly fearful dog, then dragged her to the building, during which time my pup slipped her collar and ran into the road.

At my second visit, my pup pooped on me out of fear after just seeing the same vet tech. I was astounded by the complete lack of competence of the supposed professionals interacting with a puppy. It seems like there should have been more of an effort on their part to help introduce my puppy to the concept of vet visits, given that this was her first interaction with these people.

Then the doctor had the audacity to tell me I need to work on socializing my dog, despite the fact that it was the employees at this veterinary center that were causing the fearful disposition. I have not gone back and now go to a different vet, but sadly my dogs fear of the vet has remained. Additionally, I asked to be emailed vaccination records, as I would not be going back, and I had to call back multiple times to finally receive the records. Do not take your puppy here unless you want them to be scared shitless by the atrocious pet handling skills.

Friendly caring staff. Very knowledgeable vetinarian for exotic pets! My pet is doing very well after having tumors removed.

Amidst the chaos of COVID-19, bringing our cat in to Yarmouth Vet. Center for his surgery was a breeze. They were super helpful and informed us every step of the way following the procedure. He was kept for a few days with absolutely no hassle to them because it was safer for him, and they called us everyday to let us know how he was doing...It's not always easy to find a place you feel safe leaving your pets, but we definitely did.

I always recommend Dr. Peter Smith to anyone who asks. He is very knowledgeable and caring with what he does. He listens to every detail about his patients and treats them accordingly. I bring my two ferrets to him and he always seems to know exactly what to do when they aren’t feeling the best. Dr. Smith also saved my male ferret after a bowel obstruction and I am so thankful for that. I will always bring my animals to Yarmouth Vet Center. They are in good hands here!

Wonderful care for my Savannah cat who ate some things she shouldn’t have. Dr Smith was able to retrieve them by scope and save my cat from surgery!

Dr. Smith took such great care of my Scottish Fold cat. She had difficulty breathing so he performed laser surgery to enlarge her nostrils. He also removed a lump near her ear. She is doing very well now. She doesn't snore and she doesn't get tired when we are playing. I have never seen her be so happy! He also recommended that I change her food to Prescription Diet and have her start taking supplements for a joint condition.

Since her surgery, she is like a new cat. He spent so much time in answering questions and in providing such thorough care. His advice and surgical skills are excellent. I have been to several veterinarians and he is the only one who recommended changing her food. Since then, family and friends have commented on her fur coat looking brighter and healthier and she is barely shedding. Pumpkin is five years old and is finally living the quality life that she deserves. I really appreciate Dr. Smith and the staff for helping her. His care and actions have changed my cat's life, and for that, I highly recommend him.

I brought my cat here at the end of May after she tore her ACL in her knee. She's 11.5 and has arthritis anyway, so my worst fear was that it was the end. Dr Smith was very gentle with her as he examined her, did x-rays, took blood work, etc. He laid it out to me clearly that she was in a lot of pain and what my best case/worst case scenario was.

He calmly listened as I held back tears and said that she means the world to me, so please do whatever he can. It's now the middle of August and she's doing great. She went through 7 rounds of x-ray to help her knee, has been on prednisone for pain, takes a shot every month to help with her cartilage, was switched to Hill's Science J/D to improve her mobility and couldn't be a happier kitty.

Some of the treatments were pricey but he never made money off me - in fact multiple times he didn't charge for his own services. It was clear to me that he just wanted to see my cat feel better. My gratitude goes out to him and his staff (who were all also very helpful and calming).
