Nutritional Counseling, Natural Diets and Supplements
Report
We suggest you feed your pet a meat based diet preserved with vitamin E and free of chemical coloring, flavoring, and texturizing agents. Any grain added in the food should be "whole grain" and not "grain fractions". No animal or grain by-products should be present. The meat, vegetables, and grain should be of the best quality and be as fresh as possible. Because even the best of commercial diets can be missing enzymes, vitamins, chelated minerals, fatty acids, and probiotics we can offer you and your pet with an exceptional broad spectrum supplement that contains all the above and fills this nutritional gap.
Needle Biopsies
Report
It is not possible to tell if a lump under the skin is a cyst, fatty tumor (lipoma) , or malignant tumor without making a "needle aspiration biopsy". Early detection of a malignant mass, by this method, can be the difference between life and death. If you see any sort of lump developing under your pet's skin bring him or her in immediately for testing.

We have been clients of Dr. Simon for over 10 years. In that time, we have used both traditional and alternative medical therapies -- the alternative approaches have been a welcome surprise in terms of how well they worked. We are believers! :-) Dr. Simon has a kind and calm way with the animals and a very personal approach with the owners -- and his staff is always friendly, fun and warm. I highly recommend this practice. A rare find in the world of veterinary medicine.

I went to Dr. Simon when my dachshund fell and twisted her back. My own vet said there was nothing to be done and I should have her put down. Luckily an attendant caught me before I made the decision and gave me the number to Woodside. I called and explained the problem (that my dog had twisted her back and now couldn't walk) and he got me right in for a checkup.
It wasn't quick nor cheap, but within a couple months of intensive doctor and homecare my darling Sarah was back up on her feet and walking under her own power. I would recommend these people to anyone who values their pet like their children.

Dr. Simon is an amazing vet who genuinely cares about his patient's (both animals and owners) so much. He is such a kind man that put all of my fears of raising my first puppy aside. He gives you access to his home phone as well which was very reassuring in case there was an emergency in the off hours. I would recommend him to everyone!

Dr. Simon put me at ease as soon as he walked into the exam room. I was so impressed at how he related to my dog as she allowed him to examine her. He not only described everything he planned to do before he began, but he gave me choices of possible treatments and the reasons why he was suggesting different alternatives. When we decided on how he would proceed, I felt relieved and confident in our decision. I left the clinic with the medication I needed and directions on how to administer it. Most importantly, my dog is eating and active again.

Great place! Switched from North Main in Royal Oak and I was so impressed with Woodside! They made me feel welcome and seemed to actually be interested in my dogs. I spent an hour and a half there because Dr. Simon was so thorough and took the time to answer all of my questions. He also made recommendations, but made sure I knew I didn't have to purchase anything I didn't want.
The rest of the staff was happy and very friendly. The approach at Woodside is much more in line with what I believe is important for my dogs. They spread out the vaccines and they have a lot of holistic and natural products. I highly recommend Woodside if you are looking for a more holistic approach to animal care.
