Dental disease, in pets, is often overlooked since the signs can be difficult to recognize and because our pets can avoid showing us that they hurt. With a dental exam and good dental care, we can prevent many painful issues. With our CT Scanner, we can identify and address painful and infectious issues below the gum line.
CT utilizes the similar technology as X-rays to form images, but provides much more detail than conventional x-rays. The main advantage of CT over X-rays is that it allows us to look at the body in cross-sections with higher detail and is most valuable when looking at bony structures and soft tissues.
At Petplex Animal Hospital we offer a wide range of basic surgical services, from spays and neuters to soft tissue, and orthopedic procedures. We mostly handle routine medical and surgical cases, but may refer more complicated cases to specialists if we feel that it is in the best interest of your pet.
On the Spot Veterinary Surgery is a mobile vet surgery service that does elective orthopedic and soft tissue pet surgeries at your local vet. Dr. Reynolds is a graduate of The Ohio State University. He has extensive experience in both emergency and surgical services. Before starting On the Spot Veterinary Surgery, Dr. Reynolds provided more than 100 orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries per year! For the past 3 years, we have partnered with On the Spot to have them preform elective orthopedic and soft tissue procedures at our facility.

My passions are emergency medicine and surgery and yet how can you help but enjoy spending time with individuals and discussing the love they have for their pets. Animals truly bring us a joy that is rare in today's world and I enjoy being a part of that.

PLEASE READ BEFORE TAKING YOUR PETS: after the incident, I went to the office to try to speak to an owner or office manager since they completely lied about the care given. They would not let me speak to anyone, I said I would be back the next day to talk to someone. They filed a report with the sheriffs office that morning to where I cannot show back up on the property or I will be trespassing. They did this because they know that they are not providing adequate care and did not want me talking to anyone. I have filed a complaint with the Ohio board of veterinarian about this clinic.
I am a traveling nurse for work and have been to numerous vets. This vet is by far the worst and least professional place. Please read the other recent reviews, because they are very true. The veterinarian is very unprofessional and has no empathy or care for your animal. He has no care to listen or answer any questions and does not seem to be very knowledgeable. I only came here because the other vets were closed. My dog had a small one spot dog bite on her head by a clean vaccinated dog. Took her to the vet and had to pay $150 before they would even see her for “emergency fee” then paid another $350 for 2 stitches and some antibiotics and pain meds. The veterinarian (Jed Henning) spends about 1 minute halfway out the door with you then sends the vet techs (which are nice, but do not seem to know much when asked questions) to go over the meds and discharge with you. When I got my dog back, she had blood all over her which they did not even clean up even though she had been sedated so they could have. 5 days later, my dog’s head is swollen, irritated, and looks infected. I took her back to the same vet. They tried to tell me I needed an appointment for her to be seen about the infected stitches. I told them that she needed to be seen and after some pushing I finally got her seen. They take her back into the back and I just hear her screaming bloody murder (I guess they didn’t give her any meds before draining the infection on head). The veterinarian came in once again standing in the doorway and spent one minute and said it was infected and he had drained it and was changing the antibiotic. I had to ask if I needed to be worried about the infection spreading and anything to do with her head and brain and he states that it could spread to brain and could “die off” whatever that means and then proceeds to leave… when I asked the vet tech what I should watch for if the infection spreads and repeated what the vet said she seemed to say that shouldn’t happen and doesn’t know why the vet said that… again this time my dog comes out and she has blood dripping everywhere in her eye and on her legs. For this “follow up” I had to pay another $150 whenever I had been giving her everything correctly and it should not have been infected and I should not have had to pay to have it drained. So I paid in total $650 and have a bloody still in pain dog that I will be taking somewhere else to make sure the infection is gone and not spreading. My SO proceeds to go to the vet to try to get more info and why they left our dog so bloody and the vet tries to say that I said not to clean it and leave it bloody. Which is a complete lie. He seems to know nothing and has no bedside manner and that is saying a lot considering I am a nurse and deal with doctors constantly. I highly recommend skipping this place and driving 15 minutes down the road to the vet in Baltimore. I will not be taking any of my 3 dogs to this place ever again.EDITED TO ADD: petplex’s response is a complete lie, beware of this clinic. They stated that they offered to culture to see what kind of antibiotics were needed and that I declined, they never said anything about that. They also said that I was not giving the antibiotics correctly and that is why she got infected. That is also a complete lie as I told the vet I was giving the antibiotic every 12 hours as directed to. They do not know what they are doing and then try to blame it on the clients and make them pay more for their mistakes.

This clinic did a major surgery on my chihuahua a few years ago when I first adopted her, and they are amazing. The staff is so sweet, and they let me visit my dog several times while she was in their care. I plan to bring my dog back soon, and would recommend this clinic- they have a passion for animals and people who care for them.

Dr. Sollenberger, during an emergency visit on Christmas Eve, found a mass on Sophie's spleen. He offered to do surgery on the day after Christmas at 10am. He and Taylor removed an 8 pound tumor and - according to our vet, saved her life. Petplex was also 1/3 the cost of another area emergency clinic. Sophie is acting like a puppy now.

Dr Mary Edge was brilliant in removing my 15 year old cat's eye which was malignant. She reviewed all of the options with me and was very caring. I am beyond grateful for her expertise and highly recommend her and the staff at PetPlex! Thank you Mary and staff! Bailey is doing great and it is because of your excellent care!

On a few occasions when I had emergencies they were too busy and couldn't get my dogs in. I forgave them once when they told me they couldn't do a cesarean on my female (who was struggling) until Monday, I was calling on a Friday. Labor doesn't wait till they can schedule them in. We've paid a lot of money in labs, no one calls with results, we have always had to call them to get results.
Then there were a few other issues, I go go on for awhile, but then I called about my puppy. The girl answering the phone says, is this an emergency or can you hold?". I said it's an emergency. She still puts me on hold then 2-3 min later comes back and asks what the emergency was. I explained, then she says "let me see if a vet can see an emergency".
Then comes back and says no, they are too busy. I had to drive 40 min away to a ER Vet to get my dog in. Mind you, I have 6 dogs that went there and my boyfriend a has 4. We have paid thousands to this vet each year. They just want your money for regular checkups and shots! They don't care about your dog! I'm not a complainer but they've gone too far. Seems like malpractice.

Our experience with PetPlex was nothing short of amazing. Our 13 year old dog quickly declined in health overnight. We called our normal veterinarian and she was unavailable. We called and scheduled an appointment with Dr. Costalansky. Our visit was a very emotional one and she was very caring and compassionate. She and her team (I believe Amanda) not only took excellent care of our dog but us as well. I cannot thank them enough for not only getting us an appointment same day but their caring nature given the circumstances.

Took my dog in Friday evening just to ease my mind because he was having some eye trouble. I called first, and the first thing out of their mouths were "it's $140.00 just to walk in the door for an emergency visit". All about they money. First thing the vet we saw does is jump to "it's because he's been beaten" Not even knowing what was going on yet. Had just walked in the door and accused us of beating our dog.
Little did she know, or care to ask, we took him in because our dogs play rough and our other dog scratched his eye. She muzzled him after saying that. I left not happy. Anyone who knows me, knows my dogs are spoiled and NOT beaten.

My 8 year old lab was sick and I had become very concerned! I called every vet in my area and no one would see him because they were booked or he wasn't established there. His regular vet was not concerned and wanted to make an appointment a week out and I was not okay with it. I called PetPlex and they listened to my concerns and even though he wasn't a patient there they still got him in that day.
They gave me a price estimate before the did anything. They seemed genuinely concerned with my dogs well being. Even though they had never met him before they could tell something was off! They made everything easy to understand, walked me through what they were doing and asked if I had any questions. They set up a treatment plan and wanted me to check back in a few days later in hopes he was doing better and I can honestly say he is!
He is almost 100% back to my old playful puppy! And for that I say thank you to the great Doctor and staff at PetPlex! Thank you for listening, thank you for taking him and seeing him in a short amount of notice, thank you for being the only vet to see me! I had to drive an hour to get there but I definitely know I will be back!

I had a emergency with my dog and called to make an appointment. I was under the impression that they took emergencies. When I called Dr Konstelansky told me that I should consider taking my dog to canal Winchester bc there could possibly be a chance our dog would be unsupervised, from 12:30-6. I told her that this was my only option and best for my big family and with the icy roads and that I would be bringing all my kids bc I had no babysitter and hubby was working.
Just trying my best. I couldn’t imagine driving all 7, one with special needs to canal Winchester with Covid and icy roads. I offered up the idea that I could bring him in before afternoon and depending on what he needed, If he needed treatment I could bring him back in at 6:00, when my husband would be home w our 4 wheel drive and no kiddos. She told me that it was only her and someone else that was taking care of four dogs already and that I was being counter productive and wouldn’t I be doing the same thing anyway driving all the way out to buckeye lake two times in icy conditions???
I told her she was rude and disrespectful and that I was trying my best. She said she didn’t think that they would be the best to take care of my dog I told her how rude she was being. I asked for her name and she gave it to me and when I asked how to spell it she said that was inappropriate. She is very condescending and unprofessional.
I’m beyond disappointed that I was turned away because it was a holiday and someone didn’t want to work.

I am BEYOND pleased with all the staff and their love, care and effort to make sure my animals are healthy and have what they need! I used to live a little under 30 minutes away when my puppy fell out of my car October 2019, and will continue to drive an hour from my new house for him and our new pup addition. They are AMAZING!!♥️♥️ PetPlex has been a blessing in disguise for our lives. Thanks to PetPlex and their wonderful staff we still have Triton, alive and well. He’s now best buddies with our lil man Ace!

I want to thank Petplex from the bottom of my heart for saving my fur baby!! I took her to two other vet clinics and didn’t get anywhere! Called Petplex and they got her in and knew right away what the problem was. She had emergency surgery. If I would have waited another day I wouldn’t have my baby!! Thank you all so much!

Our dog needed emergency care and they were the closest open. Turns out it was likely cancer. All the staff were incredible, truly were so kind and caring. Dr. Kostelansky went above and beyond for our boy and was so great at helping us understand our options for him without pushing anything before we were ready. They were so accommodating to us being there for as long as we needed, even later than they were supposed to be open and made the whole process of putting him out of his pain as easy as it possibly could be.

Rocky was definitely a free spirit. He had a lot of trust issues so it was a no-brainer to take him to PetPlex for anything and everything! For years he had to be sedated just to be groomed. I felt at ease knowing that the staff there was trained to help him and I trusted them! They never disappointed us! Recently Rocco started to trust them too and the groomer no longer had to sedate him.
When Rocky got sick, it was so unexpected and everything happened so fast. They did everything they could do to help him. The day that I had to say goodbye was one of the hardest days of my life. The tech at PetPlex was the person who saved me from a complete mental breakdown that day. I am so grateful to them and their love for animals. They ALWAYS took impeccable care of Rocky at every visit for 10 years and everyone there was gracious and loving when we had our final visit. Shoutout to PetPlex!

My Dog, Moses, needed to be put to sleep and my regular Vet was unavailable on a Sunday. We have been to PetPlex a number of years ago and was very thankful to find out that they were available on a Sunday. They were wonderful and very caring even though we were not current Clients. The Vet took her time with us and explained everything in detail, which made us feel more comfortable in making the decision.
The follow-up was quick with a sympathy card with personal message and signed by the entire staff, which was very much appreciated. We had his remains back within 4 days in a very nice sympathy gift bag and very tasteful box with his nameplate on it. I cant Thank them enough for their truly caring actions and attention to detail in their follow-up in a difficult time.

I can't say enough good things about Petplex and the staff and doctors there. Our kitten, Little Paw was admitted this past weekend with urinary problems. He had a trauma while he had been outside overnight. Not only did they see him right away on Friday, they continued to try to figure out what was wrong with him all day on Saturday. Dr Poorman kept us informed all day as to his status and Dr Cartesnsen performed surgery on him at 10 pm that night to try to save his life. Ultimately, he didn't make it, but we are content in the knowledge that everything was done to try to save him.
The entire staff from the front desk, to the vet techs, to the doctors treated our feline friend like he was a member of their own family. I could never say enough good things about PetPlex animal hospital and thank the entire staff there for everything they did to try to save Little Paw.

If I could give a negative score I would. Today 7/12/14
I take my family member a female Weimaraner to be seen in an emergency, because she had been acting delusional, hiding and crying under a bed, had a fever, seen by the Doctor, if that is what you can call this woman going by the name of Jessica Williamson, DVM. Without running a SINGLE test this DVM begins to tell me that it is pyometra and that my dog has 48 hours to live if we do not operate.
To give her credit she did at least take a rectal temperature of my baby and a swab (which was not yet looked at!). She sends a tech back in to provide me with estimates of services to be performed. This estimate was for $269.26 and included the exam, cytology, blood work (CBC), and urinalysis. When I question why we need these tests if she wants to operate based off of the swab (not yet looked at), the tech knows not what to say, except she can get the doctor.
Jessica Williamson returns to try to explain to me that even though the swab will confirm to her if this is pyometra, she needs the blood tests to see if her white cells are elevated because of infection.
When asked if she plans to operate if the swab comes back for pyometra she said YES. So I asked why then do I need $130 blood work? She had no response. I also asked what is the $42 for urinalysis for? Also her response was that it was no where to be found. I then explained that my concern that the $269.26 estimate did not even include a cure or resolution to my childs situation!
She then says she can have the surgery estimate drawn up, and asks my permission to proceed. I tell her she can proceed with the swab only at this point, as I begin to become emotional and tears begin to fall due to concern for my loved one. The tech returns with another estimate for $973.47 for the surgery, saying the doctor confirms based off of the swab that indeed the bacteria found was pyometra.
She then asks if I need a minute to decide. I tell her yes. As I stare at my sick baby with tears running down my face thinking about the impact $1300 would have on my family at home and the impact that the loss of my dog/child would have on my 3 sons and wife at home. I then begin to use the internet to do research on my phone. What I find is the following:
Symptoms of PYOMETRA in canines:
Abdominal distention (from an enlarged uterus)
Closed cervix
Lethargy
Depression
Lack of appetite
Vomiting
Increased water consumption
Frequent urination
Coming within 4-6 weeks after last heat/cycle
Usually occurring in dogs over the age of 6.
Of all of these items my baby had ONLY one! Her last heat was over 3 months ago and she had just turned 4. She was still eating normal, drinking normal had brief lethargy at most. She had no sensitivity on her abdomen which would show signs of abdominal distention. NONE of this really applied, yet this Doctor was telling me she had only 48 hours to live if not operated on?
The tech returned asking for my decision. I told her I need to pay for what was done and I would be leaving. I was still crying, for fear that my dog could be dying. She said ok and showed me to the desk. A member of the staff that shall remain nameless saw my distress and mentioned that I should probably consider going to a different clinic. This made no sense to me at the time, because I was rather emotional.
I began to drive around and clear my mind thinking that my dog had very little time left with us. That is when I decided to get a second opinion; after all wouldnt we do the same if it was us. I drove to Columbus to Rascal Animal Hospital, did not even mention the previous visit to PETPLEX animal hospital when I arrived. The doctor saw my baby and drew blood work and requested to do an x-ray.
I asked why and she came in to see me. She explained that she was not sure if it was Pyometra and wanted to do some testing (blood work) and take a look on the x-ray to see if the uterus was enlarged which would tell her more and help make a diagnosis.
AN X-RAY!!!! Never mentioned by Petplex and sure makes more sense than a urinalysis! I agreed and she brought me an estimate for worst case scenario if it was confirmed as Pyometra and she would have to have surgery.
To my shock it was $360.63 for everything including the X-ray and blood work! I was almost visually angry towards Jessica Williamson, DVM thinking about the nearly $1000 difference in cost. Upon completing the blood work and X-ray the doctor returned to inform me that it was not consistent with Pyometra, but that she did have an infection, and they would like to proceed by keeping the dog overnight and administering IV medication to treat the infection.
And that just to be safe they would be doing a 2nd x-ray after she had a bowel movement and sending it to a radiologist for additional review, just to be safe. I agreed. Several hours later I received a call from the hospital confirming that it was not Pyometra and that my baby would be able to come home in the morning and that she would recover fully!
I am absolutely disgusted by Jessica Williamson, DVM and Petplex animal hospital. This is clearly an operation taking advantage of the emotions of us pet owners and lovers to try and make a dime, and she is clearly pushing spay/neuter over actually treating our pets. This is sick and I don't understand how it is allowed to occur. She and all of those associated with this place with the exception of the girl who told me to try elsewhere, should be ashamed of themselves. My anger towards this attempt to take advantage of my pain and concern for a loved one is overwhelming. I recommend everyone stay clear of this horrible place.

Romeo, my 7 year old jack Russell mix had an emergency and he had not been to a vet in 3 years. And his previous vet is hours away. After calling 2 different places trying to get him seen with no luck. I called PetPlex and the receptionist was very concerned listened to me and made me an appt that day. Romeo saw Dr. Poorman who again was awesome! Thank you to everyone! I would recommend PetPlex if you are looking for a place to take your animal. Not only are they competent they CARE! ... And Romeo is doing great!

Dr. Poorman is not our original doctor but when my Maggie was very sick and couldn't walk we had to rush her ok during emergency hours! I am so impressed with them! Maggie has always been terrified at the Vet and they were so good with her! We even got her nails trimmed(which is always difficult) and I was very happy with the price of everything. They even gave us liquid medicine instead of pills so we can actually get her to take them! We will be switching from our original vet to Dr. Poorman now! Thank you PetPlex for caring for my stubborn and loving 15 year old dog!
