South Tyler Animal Clinic is a well-established, full service companion animal hospital that has served Tyler for over 40 years. The business was originally established as a mixed animal practice on May 5th, 1970, by Drs. Don Wheeler and Doyle Starnes at the present day location of Olive Garden restaurant on South Broadway. In 1984, Dr. Wheeler rebuilt at the current location on Old Jacksonville Highway, with the purpose of making South Tyler Animal Clinic an exclusively small animal hospital. Dr. Bryan Ramsey purchased the clinic in 2008 to focus solely on small animal medicine and surgery.Our goal at South Tyler Animal Clinic is to provide our patients with the highest quality medical care available and to deliver outstanding customer service to our clients. Our doctors are committed to advancing their knowledge and keeping abreast of the latest medical advances through continuing education. As part of that commitment, Dr. Ramsey maintains membership in the Texas Academy of Veterinary Practice. We also achieve this goal by having a well-equipped vet hospital, utilizing the latest technology, such as ultasound and digital radiography, to accurately diagnose and treat our patients.

South Tyler Animal Clinic maintains a well-stocked veterinary pharmacy. Call ahead at (903) 561-1717 and we will have your pet's medication refilled and waiting for you. You will need a prescription from our clinic to be able to purchase your pet's medications on the phone. We understand how busy you are and that you may not have the spare time to visit our clinic for medication refills.

Dr. Ramsey, a native of East Texas, attended Tyler Junior College before graduating from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999.He has practiced in the Tyler area since that time, coming to South Tyler Animal Clinic in 2008 to focus solely on companion animal medicine.
He is married to his lovely wife, Heather, and they have three beautiful children Hunter, Abbie, and Caleb.They share their home with Dr. Ramsey's beloved Miniature Schnauzer, Dixie and three cats. Dr. Ramsey is active in the local, state and national veterinary medical associations.He currently serves as President of the East Texas Veterinary Medical Association and also serves on the board of the Tyler Animal Emergency Clinic.

I had such an amazing experience here! The entire staff was so incredibly friendly and accommodating to my fur baby in an emergent situation. Dr. Muhr saved my dogs life and I will forever be thankful to her and the entire team at South Tyler Animal Clinic. I HIGHLY recommend them and know your pets are in good hands here!

I had my cat groomed and an annual visit. From the moment I walked in the door I felt comfortable. The receptionist staff was kind and prompt, the doctor called me to talk after she examined my cat. Alexis, the groomer. I can't say enough about her. She was kind and informative. She reassured me that everything would be fine and she didn't feel she would have to put him to sleep like groomers have insisted in the past.
The communication through out the process and the results of the groom were amazing! She educated me on the type of groom we should do next time and it was very helpful. I am officially a South Tyler Animal Clinic fan!

We were referred to Dr. Ramsey when we found out our dog had Lymphoma. We were devastated when our Vet at the time broke the news to us and told us that Major only had days or weeks to live. Dr. Ramsey and his staff gave us hope that we did have options that could potentially give us more time with our Major. We underwent chemotherapy treatments for several months and Major's Lymphoma went into remission and extended Major's life for about a year.
We are so thankful for Dr. Ramsey and his staff for helping us make the best out of such a terrible situation. You can tell that they really care about you and your beloved pets. Thank you Dr. Ramsey for taking such good care of Major. Words cannot express how great full we are for everything y'all did for us.

Melissa was amazing! Our dog is a pretty anxious and needs to be sedated to have any work done. Melissa made us feel at ease and helped make the experience as stress free as possible for us, Pepper, and the other vet techs and Dr. Ramsey. Dr. Ramsey was also great! Very informative and understanding. My husband and I have moved to Lindale since our last appointment but we will continue driving back to South Tyler Animal Clinic because of how amazing everyone is!

I have never in my life seen another vet charge the way this one does. Have had MULTIPLE people and friends completely taken advantage of at this vet. It is so terrible to prey on people just trying to do the best for their fur babies. Recently had a very good friend of mine tell me she was charged around $350 for a yearly check up and vaccines. I about jumped out of my chair.
At my vet, that costs less than $75. When I asked her to show me her receipt, she told me exact words "they never give me an itemized receipt". If that's not a huge red flag, I don't know what is.

Critical: Professionalism, Quality, Value I do not recommend having your pets groomed by Josey. We dropped off our Labradoodle and picked up a Rat. Then were charged $250 to shave him. Josey is rude and unprofessional. The whole experience is ridiculous. If you're looking for a Groomer she is not the person.

After trying four other veterinary clinics over the past 14 years, we finally found South Tyler Animal Clinic. What a relief! People that truly care about us and most importantly, about our furry family members. We would never consider going anywhere else. Our girls go to Dr. Ramsey, he is scientific, intellectual and easy to communicate with. A very impressive veterinarian.

Well, we found out what bees were yesterday! I was scared out of my mind. My Vet is in lindale and I have tried to find a closer vet, but no one wanted to touch my baby girl. But as soon as we walked in they took charge and were so helpful! Nala gave everyone lots of hugs and kisses! We felt like we have been going her whole life. Thank y’all so very much for making this experience easy and comforting!

I called at 1030 and they had an appointment for my fur baby at 315 for an urgent issue. She was a new patient at the clinic (all our local vets were out of town at a conference. The staff was super courteous and very sweet to my dog. They made me feel like we had been visiting the clinic for years! And the price was super affordable!!! Thanks guys!

Dr. Ramsey is the absolute best! He helped me every step of the way when my German Shepherd tested heartworm positive and we beat it! He always explains everything completely and let's you know all of your options to figure out what works best for your pup! My dogs both love him and the entire staff! They are definitely all animal lovers and my pups always leave as happy as they arrived. I will never take my babies anywhere else!

I can't say enough good about this clinic. They take exceptional care of my pets when I bring them in for any reason. Additionally I recently rescued an injured dog off the highway and they have taken amazing care of her and have let me call and come see her as often as I want. The veterinarians are top notch, as well as the vet techs. Special thanks to Chassey, Dr. Davies, and Dr. Ramsey (and the rest of the staff who have helped with her) for taking care of and loving my injured girl.

This is the second vet clinic I used, when I was sent here with an animal that had an emergency. After their handling of me and my dog, I've never been anywhere else. All of their docs are amazing and the staff is super kind, efficient, and knowledgeable. The vet that sent me to them, I didn't particularly care for but was new to town. God opened that door for me and led me to an amazing place. Will never use anyone else.
