Bathing - We do pet baths Monday thru Friday. Pets being bathed must be in the clinic before 10:00 am. Every Wednesday and Thursday when you bring in your pet for a bath we will trim the nails, clean the ears and express the anal glands at no extra charge. We will perform these services any other day of the week for our normal charge. The cost of bathing is based on the pet's weight, length of coat and the type of shampoo used. Appointments are required.
Boarding - We provide boarding for our patients 365 days a year. We currently have 15 runs and 8 additional modules for smaller dogs. We have a separate cattery for our feline patients. Feel free to come at any time during normal business hours for a tour of our facility. Please see our Boarding Policy for additional information and fees on these services.

Great experience! I got in the same day I called which was so convenient due to the urgency of the matter but also because I'm new to the area and a lot of vets aren't taking new clients right now. The check in / check out process was so quick and efficient and everyone I worked with was so professional and sweet. Looking forward to doing more business with them in the future.

My cat had a wound on his head that was infected. Even though Neartown wasn't our regular vet, they were able to see him within 24 hours. They cleaned his wound and prescribed antibiotics and my cat healed up without any further problems. I also thought the charge for treatment was good, and exam fee was about $10 less than my other vet. Neartown is now my kitty's regular vet.

We have been patient of Neartown animal clinic with both of our frenchies and One chi-weenie for over eight years and I've always been very happy with their attentiveness, price and service. Since we have two French bulldogs we are very happy that Dr. Lee is there with her French bulldog/brachiocephalic dog expertise. We recommend all our friends to Neartown.

Neartown is amazing and a great vet choice for the Midtown area! My cat was having leftover urinary tract issues from a trip to the vet ER and I was worried I wouldn't be able to get him checked in time without another expensive trip to the ER in one week. Neartown was able to get him checked out quickly to rule out any severe complications and my cat is doing amazing now.

I have been going to Neartown for almost 10 years with my fairly high-maintenance dog baby, Tug. We have seen vets come and go, but they have all been extremely compassionate and competent. Dr. Hunt is and has always been wonderful, and we also really like Dr. Johnston since she joined the practice. Tug also absolutely adores Jarrett, the best vet tech ever. We've never had a surprise bill or experienced anything beyond excellent care. I have complete confidence in Neartown.

We're in the process of moving two dogs and a cat to Germany, which is extremely complicated and stressful, and Neartown has been amazingly helpful, compassionate and efficient. I don't think we could do this without them! We've been going to Neartown for 15 years and we've only ever had the most wonderful service, but the past couple of weeks have endeared them to us for life.

I don't even know where to begin! Neartown is by far the most reliable, kind, caring, quality vet I've ever been to. Dr. Lee is a superstar and always takes such great care of our pup, Dakota! But what really stood out to us recently was the empathy we received when our pup had an unexpected emergency. Just 3 days after being neutered and receiving a gastropexy, our mischievous pup decided to swallow a cloth mask in one gulp.
We rushed him to the vet 10 minutes before closing, where they tried to induce vomiting, but because of his post-op, anti-nausea meds, he wouldn't give. So off to the animal hospital we went, where Dr. Lee and a few of the vet techs from Neartown work! When we arrived, we were immediately greeted by Mette who knew Dakota from Neartown and wanted to check in on him.
She was not assigned to his case at all, but spent all her free time over the next 24 hours hanging out with Dakota and making sure he was ok. When we picked him back up, with the mask still in his tummy, she gave us detailed instructions on what to look out for, what to do next, etc. Luckily, Dakota ended up passing the mask on his own without any medical intervention!
Both Neartown and Vergi called us on multiple occasions to check in on Dakota in the days to follow. They absolutely went above and beyond when caring for our boy. We can't thank Neartown enough for loving our pup like he's their own.

Multiple visits and each time they have no idea what's going on with our dog yet we still had to pay handsomely for the visits. First time we agreed to their testing/screenings that they insisted would give them insight, $800 for them to say they didn't come up with anything. We go back for a different issue & again they have no idea but suggest more tests/x-rays that would cost $1,300 this time.
When I refused to pay the $1,300 for them to potentially tell me they still don't know what's wrong (again) they were pretty much like "well, we don't know what's wrong" and handed me an invoice for the visit. $64 for literally NOTHING, just 10mins of them looking him over and another 10mins to work up an invoice detailing this $1300 of tests/x-rays they'd like to do.
They never know anything. Extremely expensive and unknowledgeable. They're very nice, but I suppose scammers and con artists typically are. If my dog's leg fell off, I'd tie it back on with a string and drive 30mins somewhere else before I walk back into Neartown.

The Neartown Animal Clinic butchered my dog! Here is what happened. I have had dogs ( mainly Spaniels) for over 60 years and have taken my sweet pets to Vets. in Amarillo, New Orleans, Washington D. C. Chicago, and Houston. My present pet, Brown, is a 13-year-old Boykin Spaniel. In case you didn't know they are the State Dog of South Carolina.
Every year in South Carolina they have state-wide " Boykin Day." Brown was developing growths on his underside, and really all over. I took him to Neartown knowing that they were the most expensive vet in Houston but I had had a good experience in the past. Because his growths had increased I took him to NearTown on Wednesday, September 29. I was able to get an early appointment with a Dr. Johnson who I had never met before.
After she examined Brown, she rambled through a list of Procedures that included a $5.89 charge for" Regulatory & Medical Waste Fee", and "Dental Scale, Grade III, and Dental Polishing $26.50 - which I did not ask for. There was also a procedure, 2 Extraction, Premolar/Molar, 1 extraction, premolar/molar Min for $206.00 that I did not ask for nor knew was to be done until the operation was over. Is there such thing as a Vet-Dentist?
With Johnson and a vet assistant incoherently jabbering on my first-morning appointment, I agreed to a total treatment plan for my dog with a cost of $1,863.95. Please note that the document ( with what I thought was the total cost) contained NO notation of pre-treatment" or Treatment Plan for Brown. It was just a list of charges that I thought was the total cost of what was to be done.
The next day, Thursday, September 30, I returned for Brown's preop and paid the $1,863.95. for what I thought was the total package to be performed. I had had my paralegal, Ann Hurt, return Brown to Neartown on Thursday and pay what I thought was the total amount for the entire procedure. Ms. Hurt will testify that when she paid what we both thought was the total amount owed for the total operation, Ms.
Hurt was not informed by the Neartown Office Manager, the vet tech, or by Johnson, that an additional fee was owed. We left and the next day I paid for what I thought was the entire operation. On Thursday evening, Johnson did call me, but did not say that an additional fee would be owed. When I returned with Brown on Friday, October 1st for the operation, I was presented with a new bill for $2088.06 and a notation that the actual total may vary from $1732,43 and $2,334.03.
I told Neartown to do the procedure and after my dog had been butchered and I was livid about what the cost was and what Johnson had done to my dog, I paid$2,222.27. The total bill was $4,086.22 for an operation that was not necessary if appropriate medical advice had been given and appropriate billing and communication had occurred. MEDICAL OPINION.
When I first met with Johnson, she did not explain what the operation would be, how much it would cost, or the horrible aftercare that would be required. She did not explain that there may have been an alternative to a full-scale- cut where you may operation. She could have drained the mass or explained how much pain and suffering the operation would cause. Johnson did not explain anything.
The oral explanation and the First Invoice ( #330701) were just a description of what was to be done and nothing more. She said nothing about the " Discharge Instructions prepared for Brown Bennett on 10-01-21." Had I known what was involved with the drain, the medications, having to wear an " Elizabeth collar' and all that would be involved with the post-operation care, I may have reconsidered even doing the operation.
This was a complete failure of Johnson to communicate and explain. BILLING AND COST. If you read the other reviews of Neartown, the owner Lee ( who is not a vet), and of Johnson, you will discover it is the highest-priced Vet Center in Houston. It is outrageous what is charged. Do not pay their outrageous prices or at least get another opinion before you have NearTown do anything. COMMUNICATION. i never properly informed of what the pricing would be for the total operation of my pet.
I was never told what the aftercare requirements would be by Johnson. SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION. Unless you want your pet to be butchered for an outrageous price. do not take your pet to Neartown Animal clinic. If you do, you will be outraged and your pet will suffer. Bob Bennett 713-225-6000.

Can't say enough good things about Neartown. We came back from a trip to find our sweet 17-lb Penny suffered a puncture wound somehow at her dogsitters'. We were stressing because it was almost 6pm and our primary vet wouldn't see her. We called Neartown and even though they were about to close and didn't know us, they took Penny in and patched her up and took such good care of her! A couple weeks and visits later and Penny is back to her happy and energetic self, and Neartown is her new primary vet! Can't recommend their whole thoughtful staff enough!

Get ready to be surprise when you see the bill! I had bad experience with them and will never come back. When you take your car to a repair shop they tell you in advance the price or at least an estimated price and the work needs to be done and if you agree they do the job and in the worst case you will pay for the inspection if you decided to to repair.
But in this clinic they won't ask you if you want to purchase a medicine or a treatment, first they will give your pet whatever they think without getting a consent from you! They separated the pet from you cause it's COVID rules and then they tell you we did this and that and. it's cost 300$. I paid 0 $, I went without paying for something I didn't agree. Be aware of this scam! They also gave my pet a vaccine she shouldn't take under her condition. Zero for the service and zero for the rude owner of this place.

AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING! We were out on a trip and our best friend had trauma down in his private area that was bleeding everytime he urinated. Prior to taking him to Neartown Animal Clinic we took him to two Vet Clinics. The two Vet clinics basically said to wait it out. Two Days later lots of blood is still being lost. That's when we heard great things about Neartown Clinic and said let's get another opinion.
We scheduled an appointment Sarah and the Veterinarian helped him immediately. Prescribed the correct measurements and the NEXT DAY NO BLOOD! Thank you guys soooo much! This is my new clinic! Very clean facility, positive environment, and great customer service and the front desk are amazing as well!

Staff is really nice and so are the doctors. However, this place is extremely expensive. I just wanted to get a second round of vaccine for my kitten. Doctor explained all these things to me. I didn't understand them since I am first time cat owner. I was nodding indicating I understood. The vet tech came in after the doctor left and said this is your cost. $300 (I thought services were already rendered).
Little did I know they weren't. He left with my kitten and when he came back I explained to him that this was expensive and I told him you should tell me when these services were rendered so I can decided what I do not want to do. He explained to me that earlier things listed on the pre-invoice were not rendered. And that after he took my kitten away services were rendered.
I was really upset. And I told him that y'all should really explain more in detail on what my options are before I say okay and pay $300! I am really upset. I will not return to this place again. If you are just looking for vaccines for pets don't go here. And if you do, ask for prices before you get your eyes poked out. And they quoted me for a neuter for $700! Outrageous. I will go somewhere else. I should've gone somewhere else in the beginning.

The doctors are excellent, always give wonderful care with love to our dogs. Have been a. Client for 6 years now, and even through Dr. Lee purchasing the practice, the care and servicd has been a smooth transition. I want to especially thank Cecilia, who is a vet tech/Front Desk staff member. She is consistently pleasant on the phone and in person, delivers excellent customer service, and even puts up with sometimes excess amounts of concerned dog-parent calls, always handling it with the utmost respect and compassion. Cecilia, most of the staff, and the wonderful Veterinary physicians are the reason we have been clients for 6+ years, and will continue to be for the next 20.

Wonderful animal clinic. Entire staff was friendly, knowledgable, and most importantly, handled our beloved pup with caring hands. Dr. Lee took her time during the examination and patiently answered all my questions. Our pup is shy and anxious around strangers and the vet techs came in quietly and won her over with slow pets (or the maybe treats they seemingly pulled out of every pocket.) No doubt, Neartown Animal Clinic will be our vet going forward.

Since my last review, Dr. Lee personally reached out and apologized for the unexpected charges from the day my dog spent with Dr. Johnston. She even offered a credit back for future services. I've gone back again since and this time saw Dr. Hunt who is also as kind and informative as she could be. Dr. Hunt & Dr. Lee both talk about the best treatment options along with associated costs before taking any action on my pets. Thanks to them, my dog with pneumonia and heart issues is slowly but surely getting back to his old self. They are both fantastic vets! Thank you!

Dr. Hunt and the team at Neartown Animal Clinic consistently go above and beyond to provide superior service. I wouldn't trust the well-being of my 2 dogs anywhere else as much as I do here, and I can't recommend their quality of care and compassion highly enough. No place is perfect, however you won't find this level of care - both to you and to your 4-legged family members - anywhere else.

We have been using this vet for the past year after relocating to Houston. We have two large dogs, both of whom have had extreme health problems this past year. We have had problems with two other past vets in regards to competency, but Neartown has always provided us with excellent care. They always explain multiple options with us, and on more than one occasion the vets have talked with us for 20+ min on the phone. They are expensive - as are most private vets - but we feel that the care received justifies the cost.

I've called on two different occasions to get price quotes on: 1) to board my two dogs there and 2) to get them groomed. Given that I literally live right next door and I'm 9 months pregnant, I figured this would be a breeze. My husband had already taken them to our vet to get them current on all their shots the month before. On both occasions (even for a bath!), the clinic said they wouukd charge me a $59 health examination on each dog in top of what I it cost to either board or bathe them. That's ridiculous! I guess theyre doing so good as a business that new business means nothing to them.

Not for cats. I chose this vet very carefully after getting our first cat. He was a lovable and rambunctious kitten, until he got a little sick and we took him in for a visit. He did not react well to one of the vet techs on this particular visit, but another vet tech took over and he did fine. Since then they've had him labeled as an "aggressive cat." They now refuse to look at him without calling us beforehand and going on and on about how they want to sedate him and he's so aggressive.
I felt guilty until we took him to an emergency vet who had NO problem with him, even shamed Neartown for being so pushy on the sedation. Then today. My two cats had to be boarded for the day and get caught up on shots. Again, they called us the night before and told us they wanted to sedate him because they didn't think they'd be able to touch him.
I instructed them to try without sedation and then call myself or my husband to discuss. This morning my husband dropped our cats off and carefully instructed they not be separated or kept near dogs. Radio silence from Neartown all day, no phone calls, emails, nothing. I go to pick them up and they inform me "someone should've called" me. Then they tell me they couldn't vaccinate my "aggressive" cat.
My cat is as calm as ever right now, and if he were stressed that would not be the case. Oh and my "aggressive" cat? Still on their letterhead they print their documents out on everyday. In a Christmas sweater. What a monster.

We've been taking our pup to Neartown since we arrived back in Houston around 18 months ago and we've had nothing but friendly amazing care from the staff. They've always accommodated us when we've needed a last minute appointment, are happy to answer any question we have (no matter how silly!), and are always super caring and compassionate with our little puppers!

My awesome Catahoula, Wednesday needed knee surgery on her back legs, and I was referred to Dr Murray. She's a thorough, experienced, no nonsense surgeon. She changed course mid way through, which was irritating at first, but in hindsight was the right thing to do. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I never had to wait very long in the lobby (we had about 7 visits). And best of all, Wednesday has recovered much better than expected. Dr Murray did a fantastic job getting my senior pup through two surgeries!

All of the people here are amazing / miracle workers in my opinion. They are so incredibly caring and I have had at least 12 animals there. Dr. Murray and staff saved my sweet Molly when I rescued her and took her there. My Frida was also taken to see them the day I rescued her. 2 of my dogs were there during Hurricane Ike while I was out of town.
If I mention going to see Dwayne for boarding, they get so excited. Jarrett, Kelli and Susan are always so kind and helpful - especially when I was losing my Sampson. Everyone is great, and I highly recommend this Animal Clinic!

Thank you for being our Casey's healthcare provider these last nine years. He was a healthy, happy family member for all of those years. And thank you, most of all, for helping us make the decision to let him go. We deeply appreciate your thoughtful advice and compassionate treatment. We are lonely today but know we did the right thing.

Top notch! Their service is unsurpassable! My partner & I could tell something wasn't right with our kitty. She wasn't eating all her food like she usually did & was losing weight. She had to have some teeth extracted & has irritated bowl syndrome. Dr Murray was so thorough & after one surgery, Dharma's already looking & feeling so much better.

I chose this clinic because it's very close to my apartment in Montrose. The front desk ladies weren't the friendliest bunch, but once we got into the appointment room the vet tech and vet were extremely nice and accommodating. The prices are typical of what you'll see in a big city. When I had my dog in college station I paid about a third for a regular exam, but in Austin in was only a few dollars less. ($53 for an exam here, $46 in Austin, and $15 in College Station.) I believe the vaccine prices were about the same though. So while I didn't get any warm and fuzzies about the place, it's convenient and my dog is healthy.

I bring my 2 dogs in to board frequently. I'm not sure what they're doing when they board here but they can barely wait to get in the door and run back to the kennel. All the doctors are great and the dogs love them as well. Dr. Murray is the surgeon that did a knee surgery on my dog and it healed perfectly.

I recently adopted an abandoned cat. He is still a kitten and already fixed, so he's a little different than other strays. The vet, vet tech, and receptionist were all great. They answered ALL my questions and helped educate me on what would best for him going forward. They were also so gentle with him and had plenty of treats on hand. He has his next round of shots scheduled in three weeks. Super glad I found a clinic close to home where you can really tell animals are their number one priority. Highly recommend!

This clinic rocks!! Saturday 11am our Borzoi wipes out while running full speed on our driveway and slices the skin over her thigh and knee open. We discovered Neartown Animal Hospital is open until 1pm. They took us in as new clients! 5 stitches later and laser treatment, our Addie is ready to go home! The vets and staff are awesome, friendly and professional! Super reasonably priced!! Thank you!!!
