Pain management:
Pets feel pain and discomfort same as we do and we understand that managing pain is a vital part of a pet's quality of life as well as part of the healing process. We take the time to help you evaluate not only the physical symptoms, but the behavioral signs that can indicate your pet may not be feeling well too.
Surgical Services:
Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures.
Anesthesia:
We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, an ECG also monitors the patient's vital signs during all anesthetic procedures.
Cancer Therapy:
We provide advanced diagnosis, chemotherapy and surgery for many cancer conditions affecting our pets.
Internal medicine consults:
We offer in-hospital referrals to an internal medicine specialist who performs ultrasounds and helps us with the diagnosis of more complicated cases.
Radiology Services:
Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders.
Electrocardiography Services:
We provide ECG services on-site. Our ECG machine is also used to monitor all patients during anesthesia.
Dentistry:
Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and minor oral surgery.
Laboratory:
Our state of the art in-house laboratory equipment allows us to perform serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing and receive accurate results in just a few minutes. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.
Microchips:
We offer microchips and scanning for permanent identification of your pet.
Pharmacy:
We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets. As an added convenience to our clients we also have an online store available with a variety of products. Competitively priced refills can be made through our Pet Portal online pharmacy.
Individualized Flea Control Programs:
We develop programs for the specific needs of your pet and your own particular environmental situation. We will review with you the best ways to control fleas in your house, in your yard and on your pet.
Dietary Counseling:
We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
Counseling:
We can provide behavioral counseling regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression.
Boarding:
We provide separate boarding for cats and dogs. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. Our fees are based on a per night basis and all dogs receive a complimentary bath after four consecutive nights of boarding with us! Pets may be admitted and picked up during regular business hours Monday through Saturday. Reservations can be made online through our Pet Portal.

Routine and therapeutic bathing services are available.

We proudly provide Fear Free service to ensure that every visit is as pleasant for your pet as it is for you. Using gentle animal restraint methods. Gentle restraint examples may include using delicious treats when doing simple procedures (checking a patient's vitals, examining and vaccinating) so that the pet doesn't mind the procedure because they are so focused on the yummy treat! We also use conscientious and patient-focused sedation when a pet would benefit from it.

I've only been coming here a year or so but they take great care of all 4 of the family pets. Gone through at least 4 surgeries between the pets and they've all recovered well and we're cared for well. They understand anxious pet parents and answer all your questions. Great customer service- I never feel rushed or pressured. I also like that they utilize Pet Desk loyalty points.

The veterinarians and staff are very caring at Lawrence Veterinary Hospital. I was feeling guilty that my dog needed to have several teeth extracted. Dr. Anna Johnson and their receptionist Gabby ensured me that dental issues are common among small dogs and it was nothing I had done wrong. Dr. Anna took time to answer all of my questions and she informed me of dog dental wipes, since my dog doesn't do well with having his teeth brushed. A few days after my dog's surgery, a staff member called me to follow-up on how he was doing. I am very thankful for their veterinary expertise and compassion.

I had the worst experience today. Arrived 8 minutes early and was told, they will be with you in a few minutes. 36 minutes later I am taken to a exam office and left there for another 11 minutes. No explanation, and only got an apology AFTER I mentioned it. UNACCEPTABLE! Lola was not happy, I was not happy. They didn't seem to care.

Friendly staff, clean facility, centrally located. We never have to worry about our pet when it's in the care of LVH. She comes home happy and well-taken care of. Prices for services are competitive and via the PetDesk app, you can always get what you need quickly and they are always available if you have questions.

Very friendly and caring are the words that best describe Lawrence Veterinary Hospital. Corrected/upgraded to a 5-star rating. I had intended to give a 5-star rating all along, but on later review, discovered I had only "checked off" four stars instead of five, so now here's the correct 5-star rating.

Wonderful place the staff was great and they saw my dog for 1st time. It was my 1st to take a dog to a vet, overall they were great. The 1st visit they wavied the office visit. Not sure if they are expensive or not, will be boarding my dog with them seemed to have best pricing I could find, but require more shots to stay.

I’m extremely happy to have chosen them as the Veterinary Clinic for my dog Lily. Every time she comes here they are super friendly and welcoming to both her and I. They do an excellent job of answering any questions I have, and are so good about giving me information that is extremely helpful. I think another pretty cool thing they have is their app. It is so convenient for looking at Lily’s records, and ordering anything that I may need for her.

I would have rated it Excellent but my kitty always has a freakout at the vet. She just can't relax and it makes it very difficult for everyone, including the wonderful and caring people there. I always get good advice and focused attention for her. All in all a very very good experience each and every time.

I have been going here for years, and still continue to, even though I no longer live in Lawrence. It's worth the 45 minutes of howling down K-10 to take my aging Siamese to Dr. Kraft. He is extremely caring, and well read on all manner of cat issues. He has frequently called to follow up, and we have had 30 minute conversations. He is very thorough and conscientious of your pet's health, what is best for them, and your budget. All of the staff is wonderful at LVH.

Love all the vets and staff here. They care about animals and have always been friendly. I also like that they are easy to contact during the day - I'm very busy at work and can't always talk on the phone, they are easily reachable via email and very responsive. It's nice to get email reminders so my dog never misses any appointments, too. They also have very good hours of availability for people who work. They have half days on Saturdays and are open until 7pm two days a week.

Dr. Kraft worked with me and my cats over 20 years ago. One was extremely difficult to work with, and yet he did so kindly and thoughtfully, made accommodations for him, and was their veteran until both passed away a few years ago. I recently returned with two kittens, and it's good to know we're in such good hands. The entire staff has always been professional and personable over the years. We're fortunate to have Lawrence Veterinary Hospital in our town.

I just moved here and needed a vet. Several people recommended this place. I loved my vet in Illinois, so I wasn't expecting any place to live up to that standard. Lawrence Veterinary Hospital did. They diagnosed my older dog with early stage kidney failure, and were so kind as we discussed how to know when it is time to let him go. Through their tests, we know that he is not as far along as previously thought, and their treatment (special food) has done wonders for my little man.
I have a larger dog and a cat, both of whom the staff treated wonderfully. Previous reviewers clearly had bad experiences, but I do not think that is typical. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The facility is clean, bright, and welcoming.
