When Dr. Harvey Partridge built the St.Petersburg veterinary hospital in 1978, it was originally named "Riviera Animal Hospital". In 1995, he sold the practice to a corporation of veterinary hospitals named VCA (Veterinary Centers of America). Dr. Partridge left the practice in 2003, and VCA's lease ran out two years later. At that time, the St. Petersburg animal hospital was remodeled and opened under the new name, "Partridge Animal Hospital".
Dr. David Landers began working at Partridge Animal Hospital in St. Petersburg in 2007, and he purchased the practice from Dr. Partridge in 2010.

Veterinary Care
Report
Wellness CarePrevention is the key to your pet's long term good health. This approach also minimizes the lifetime cost of care. We recommend routine wellness exams, vaccinations, regular laboratory work, deworming and fecal checks; as well as medication to prevent heartworm, fleas and ticks.
Most laboratory tests that your dog or cat needs can be done during a regular exam. This is our chance to get to know your pet, to assess your pet's overall health, discuss any changes we see, educate and update you on advancements in veterinary care, and also, for you to discuss any concerns or questions you may have with our veterinarians.

Vaccinations
Report
Keep Up-to-date on your pet's vaccines! We strongly recommend that your pet be up-to-date on vaccines. Vaccinations are not only safe and effective, but they are also an important and fundamental aspect of your pet's preventive healthcare plan. Diseases that once were relatively common and fatal to pets are now easily preventable. There are also vaccines such as for rabies and other zoonotic diseases that help protect your family from very dangerous and difficult-to-treat illnesses.
Digital Radiology
Report
Veterinary X-rays have become a powerful and useful tool. Images can now be taken digitally and displayed on a computer. This means that we can quickly take a high resolution image, and then manipulate it to gain a better view of your pet's bones and internal organs. The result is that diagnosing a very wide range of medical conditions is made faster and can be done far more accurately than ever before.
Dentistry
Report
It's possible to extend your pet's life with proper dental care. Dental hygiene can better your pet's health, vitality and well-being. Veterinary dental care will help ensure your pet leads the best life possible. However, if left untreated, dental disease can not only be painful and inhibit proper nutrition, but it can also lead to serious systemic issues that may threaten your pet's health before symptoms are even present.

Abysmal communication. How can an animal get good care in this environment? (They can’t).
Got very reasonable dental estimate from Dr. Hall so scheduled cleaning. Had great apt with Hall. At pre-op blood work apt, they messed up our apt time and arrival instructions so I was kept waiting while they mistakenly took patients for 30 min whose apts were after ours. I left many messages overall over a few weeks and never once received a call back from messages left. I called once and was put on hold 23 min only to be hung up on. Still was never called back. I also emailed multiple times asking them to call me because I could not get in touch with anyone for questions regarding dental cleaning. Nobody ever followed up with calls back to me, I simply kept calling. I finally left a message the day before with front end staff asking the following:
-copy of my original dental cleaning estimate
- would my dog have someone present for the entire duration he is sedated
-would the vet be multi tasking with more than one animal at a time while under anesthesia
The vet doing the cleaning (Oldanie) left me a message asking me to come in the next morning at 7:45. He indicated that the question I had asked that was relayed to him was if the vet techs were licensed. It actually made me laugh out loud because I didn’t ask that at all, and that had been the only thing passed along to him.
When I showed up at 7:45 AM I had driven from the same part of town as Oldanie and even paid to drop my kids early at school so I’d be on time, I waited a full hour for him to arrive. He was AN HOUR late due to the same traffic I managed just fine and with two small children. When I told him I had concerns about not being able to speak with anyone regarding questions for anesthesia and that I had left over a dozen messages that had never been returned and that my original estimate had mysteriously vanished from their digital records (his estimate was twice what Halls was for the same procedure), his response was that he was not going to be able to resolve these issues so we should just leave the practice. So glad we dodged the bullet with such an arrogant dismissive man who was willing to push us away without acknowledging the facts. My dog deserves great care.

This is hands down the best vet I've ever visited! The staff is incredibly welcoming, and their expertise and advanced technology give me such peace of mind. I feel confident that my pets are in caring, capable hands. They saved my fur baby just in time, and I’m beyond grateful for their help and support! I highly recommend them. Even though they’re nearly an hour away, the drive is absolutely worth it! Thank you, Partridge family, for everything you do!

I never write reviews. I felt strongly enough to write this one. I brought in my dog for a checkup and the doctor said my dog has an underbite which isn't good for teeth and says he has a loose tooth in the front. She said I should schedule a dental, so I did. I dropped my dog off. I asked the woman I gave my dog to how much for dental and a loose tooth.
She told me the dental is a few hundred and a loose tooth is about $50 bucks, and anything major, I'd get a call, which I'm pretty sure is standard procedure at any good vet. I never hear anything throughout the day. No calls. So I figure everything is ok. I walk in to get my dog and I have a $1,000 bill. They've pulled 5 of his teeth and stitched skin to make a new gum line - all without any authorization.
They supposedly feel bad, so they take off some money including the "extra hour of anesthesia" for surgeries that I never OKed in the first place. Now my bill is $900. I guess I am supposed to feel ok. Someone pulls me aside and tells me they are so expensive because of the level of care they offer. But then tells me that they are going to follow up and call to see how my dog is doing tomorrow.
Which they NEVER DID. What level of "care" is this? High prices under the guise of "great care" which I have not received. Only a surprise bill with no authorization, no communication, and no follow up. I told the story to a group of friends after this incident and one of them told me they had a similar experience there and also no longer take their pet to Partridge. There are plenty of great vet offices in the area. This one claims to be special, and I've never seen it.

Had to put down beloved family dog a week ago. Patridge staff handled everything with kindness and care. Made a terrible day just a bit better. Immediately sent flowers and condolences. Helped us through several medical issues over the years. Kind of pricey but they are the only ones we wanted to take care of our pet.

Wonderful place for pets, great service, care, and commitment. We started with Dr. Partridge about 17 years ago with Simon our cat and kid. We watched this place grow over the years, and ownership change. Dr. Partridge took care of Simon exceptionally until Dr. Partridge was called back to Heaven. Unfortunately we moved and have a new vet in the last 6 months.
Our dear Simon passed this past Saturday 4-9-2022. 20 years old. We credit his longevity to the care he was provided here. We also joked that Dr Partridge did a check up on him when he crossed the rainbow bridge. We we will miss the exceptional service, friendly staff, and honest treatment. May you continue to grow and keep Dr. Partridge's love and honesty of his treatment of all fur kids as the top priority. Wishing you all much success in the future. From the bottom of our hearts, Thank You so much for what you do everyday.

This animal hospital is by far the best vet in the Tampa Bay Area. I would travel from north Tampa down to here solely because every technician and vet in this facility genuinely cares about you and your pet and will do all that they can to make sure everything will work out. My cat unfortunately needed surgery last night due to emergency circumstances, but the only surgeons available were at expensive vet ERs, that realistically I can't afford out of pocket even with care credit and Scratchpay. Fortunately, Krista, the vet technician that day, helped me out immensely.
She managed to get the off duty surgeon in to perform the surgery on my cat and for that I will be forever thankful to both of them. Everyone here is amazing and they'll always find the root cause of the issue in your pet. I definitely recommend this place to anyone who is a little uncertain over where to go, especially since fur babies are a big, important part of our lives. They'll take care of your fur babies here and work with you so that everything goes smoothly. 100/10 stars if I could

This is a great place! Staff was super friendly! Kathryn Maitre, DVM is excellent! Very thorough and to the point. Riley was anxious to be there but any dog would be. Again, the staff eased her as much as possible. It was just a really good experience and that others care as much for my doggo as I do. Highly recommend if you're looking for a vet!

Deceptive practice and overcharges. Clearly riding on Dr Partridge's previous reputation. I was given a quote prior to making the appointment for the services I was going in for. I clarified the services when I arrived (shot and license renewal). They then had me pay in the exam room without a receipt (which I had to ask for). When it arrived, there was a full vet visit (annual wellness charge) on it. Had I knew that was going to be there, I would have went elsewhere -which is why I asked for a quote to begin with. Or, at least I would have made sure that my dog got the full wellness exam that I was charged for.
This is not the first time that I had a surprise on my bill. Last time I found that I had been charged for a case of food that I didn't get. Be honest with your customers up front. Also show the bill to your customers before making them pay -like every other vet. You can only ride on the late Dr Partridge's coat tails for so long before before your current practices catch up to you. Edited to add that they did call me back and did a partial credit to my bill for half the exam. Still, I could have saved over $100 and went to animal services for the shot and license.

I was referred by my vet for an ultrasound with Dr. Lander's and was very happy with the whole experience. Everyone there was very professional and I felt comfortable with all the staff. Dr. Lander's took the time to make sure I understand the whole process and went over previous blood work results explaining and interpretating the results.

We recently got a new dog and where looking for a vet when a friend recommended Partridge to us. We could not be happier with how our first appointment with them went. All the staff was super nice and you can tell they really care about the animal. They where super patient with us while we asked 6,002 questions.

There are many clinics I could have chosen when I moved to the St Pete area, but I chose Partridge Animal Hospital because it was close to my house. Most people may not choose to select a vet that way, but once I made the phone call, I knew I made the right decision. The staff has been exceptional with their customer service and information. The vet tech staff is always attentive and listens to what I have to say and answers my questions. The past 2 years my girls have seen Dr. George and he is fantastic! I'm glad he chose to practice at this facility! He represents Dr. Partridge's legacy well.

Thank you Dr. Power and Technician Lee for your outstanding service today for my little chicken nugget Pearl. You were both so patient and thorough with getting to know her history and providing a plan of action. Thanks again for the warm welcome and top notch professionalism. You are so appreciated!

They are patient, kind, take their time to explain things, and truly take the very best care of your four legged family members. I trust them completely from the routine to emergency care. The techs and the office staff are always friendly and helpful. My dogs love going to the vet and saying hi to everyone there.

We happened upon Partridge and Dr. Freeborg a few years ago, and they were so great, decided to take my kitty Sonora there. Dr Freeborg is simply the best, the guy is a rock star of veterinarians. The staff is caring, kind and professional. Unfortunately, it's time for my girl to cross the bridge, she is my heart and I will miss her forever. I am completely heartbroken. But we will be there for her right to the end. And I know Dr Freeborg will be there too, making it a gentle way for my girl to cross the bridge.

This was our first visit and let me tell you I was extremely impressed. The office staff was super friendly and I can't say enough about the doctor. Dr. Freeborg took the time to explain everything to me. I have to think Jamie from PA PA PR for referring me there. Best decision and is worth the travel

I came to work at Partridge Animal Hospital after years of hearing about its superior reputation in animal care. When I started here, I was absolutely blown away by the level of commitment to medical excellence, teamwork and its shining reputation in the community. The doctors and technicians are some of the most dedicated individuals I have met in the field.
They genuinely care about each and every patient and client. Partridge Animal Hospital is not only an incredible place to work, but I would not trust my own animals’ care with anyone else.

We were displaced due to Hurricane Michael and my 12 year old Irish Setter was having problems with his leg, eating and basically depressed. The staff were so great. They got us in right away and treated my baby like he was a long time patient. They spent so much time with us and my dog felt at home. Kudos to Adam and Dr. Collins. Thank you so very much! I would reccomend this vet to anyone.

We’ve been with partridge for five years now and honestly I feel bad that this is the first time I’m giving them a review. They have always treated my fur baby like he was their own. They’ve gotten us in last minute when worry wart mom needs him to be seen about something. They have the most caring staff from the front desk to all of the veterinarians and techs.
On our most recent visit, Jen and Danielle were absolutely amazing at keeping my seven-year-old corgi calm while he got his nails cut and they tended to an injury on his ear. Something I also loved is they let me be part of the process of calming him and let me be very involved during the whole thing. This helped me feel so much better about what was going on with Cooper. I can’t say enough nice things about Partridge, but they’ve got my furbabies for life.
