Why home vet care? Do you dread having to fight with your cat to get him or her into the carrier? Does your pet hate car rides, or even get sick in the car? Does your older dog have a hard time walking on slick clinic floors? Do you have multiple pets that you would like to have cared for at once? These are just a few of the many reasons people choose to have the veterinarian come to their home.
Having a vet visit in the comfort and familiarity of home makes the entire process minimally stressful. It also helps the veterinarian see your pet in his or her home setting, as they really are. Yes, they often still get poked with needles, and there may be other insulting procedures, but having these done in a familiar environment makes the whole process a little better. And, without leaving the house, your cat or dog won't come home smelling different and causing potential inter-pet anxiety.

I chose being a veterinarian as a sort of second career and have never looked back! I was earning a PhD in molecular cell biology at Washington University School of Medicine, when I adopted two rescued dogs. After becoming more involved with dog rescue, I realized veterinary medicine would be the best career for me. I went to University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2004. My favorite topics are dermatology and internal medicine, which also happens to be the majority of what I deal with on a day-to-day basis.
I base my practice on a simple concept: treat people the way I would want to be treated. I take the time to explain diagnostic and treatment options, no matter how complex. I have found that when you break it down, nothing is so hard or complicated that a loving owner couldn't understand. My clients appreciate my directness and honesty the most, even when it's brutal honesty sometimes. And, I have learned that laughing a little goes a long way in this job!
My clients know I am a doctor, but I am a real person. Some of my dogs eat poop, no matter what I try. I often have pet hair on my clothes. I am a pet owner, and I know what it is like to love your pet like any human member of your family. I must admit that older animals hold a special place in my heart (the skinny old cats and the old arthritic dogs).
I look forward to getting to know new people and their pets! Nothing makes me happier than helping a cat or dog who has been itching, sick, or hurting, and making life better for the whole family!

I wish I could give them more starts. Kind. Compassionate. Understanding. Friendly. The vet office is set up like a living room, no stainless steel exam table. The Doctor and staff are nothing short of amazing. We adopted a stray cat, who unknown to us had tapeworm. We were able to communicate via email and phone call, saving us stress and time, and were able to quickly treat our cat. If you happen to be on the fence about picking a new vet, I hope this review guides you.

Have only time for an initial acupuncture treatment for our 14 year old hound Bob. The staff was friendly and professional but Dr. Karen was beyond personable. Her whole demeanor is exactly what every veterinarian should strive to present. She does concern, care, and compassion for your pet. Couldn't recognize this practice more highly.

I can’t express enough how happy I am with this vet. No more stressing out my cats going to the office. All of her staff is great and really helped my very elderly cat, 25 years old, the last years of her life. My sister has thanked me many times for recommending this vet when her pets had to cross the rainbow bridge.

Our sweet pup Conrad was diagnosed with stage 5B lymphoma and things turned bad quickly. Dr. Laura came to our home and was beyond amazing. She was professional, compassionate, and walked us through the process at our own pace. I had never heard of these folks before but I highly recommend after our experience. Thank you so much Dr. Laura

Almost a week ago I had to make the tough decision to let Molly cross the rainbow bridge. She was battling hemangiosarcoma since September 2019. Molly is scared of car rides so I was very thankful for in-home care. Dr. Laura Boeren was very calm and compassionate throughout. I’ve never seen Molly so calm with a stranger in her room. Thank you so much Dr. Laura.

We just had our first experience with MeteoEast Vet and specifically, Dr. Boeren, as we had to make the awful decision to put our boy down. I cannot imagine anyone being more caring and respectful or the process being any more peaceful. We will definitely be switching to them for all of our vet needs from now on.

We were able to get our 3 dogs seen at home without having to fight them in the car or wrangle them on leashes at the vets office. Best decision ever! A little more expensive than a traditional vet visit but not much and totally worth it. Everyone got shots and all other issues addressed all while dinner was cooking and tending to a baby. Not sure we could ever go back to a traditional vet if we moved.

Dr. Louis came to our home yesterday after we made the hard decision to put down my cat. This was my first experience with euthanasia and she took the time to make sure I was comfortable, and gave me plenty of time before and after to say goodbye. She went above and beyond to explain the entire procedure as well. We are so thankful to have her during this hard process. Thank you for all that you do Dr. Louis.

Last week we had to make the agonizing decision to let our son of 11 1/2 years go to prevent suffering. Buster was a big boy, weighing in at 160 pounds. The previous 2 days he was unable to lift himself off the floor and we didn't want to hurt him (our ourselves) trying to carry him to our vehicle and drive him to the vet. Dr. Louis came to our house, evaluated our boy, helped to reinforce our decision, and helped Buster to pass peacefully.
We never felt rushed before, during, or after the procedure. We cannot thank Dr. Louis enough for her compassion and helping to make this difficult experience as easy as possible for our family.

Karen is seriously the best. The mobile aspect makes it so much easier on me and my dogs, there are no more stressful trips to the vet. Dr. Louis cares so much about my pets and pets in general, it means a lot. To know you're taking your pet to a vet that truly loves animals is a requirement of mine!

Dr Lewis has been doing acupuncture treatments for our chihuahua. She is wonderful to us but more importantly to our baby girl taking the time to give her lots of love during her treatments. She always explains everything and makes sure all our questions and concerns are addressed. Would HIGHLY recommend!

Karen and her techs cared for our elderly dog for a number of years. I'm convinced it was bc of their great care that we got a few extra wonderful years with her. Years we would not have had otherwise. When the day came and we knew we had to let her go, Karen came to our home on a Sunday afternoon and stayed as long as we needed her to. It was hard time but also a special time our family shared with her.

We have used Dr. Louis two times now. She is so many things. Things like: compassionate, considerate, professional, personable, funny, caring... I could go on. Based upon her help with Tillie, we had the confidence to do the right thing in a timely manner for our boy Finn. She responded quickly and helped us through the whole process of letting go and saying goodbye. We have every intention of seeking her help in the future. Thank you Dr. Karen.

Dr Louis was recommended to us by Northgate to care for our girl kitty, Autumn. She was diagnosed with cancer in October and had surgery but it metastasized to her lungs. She never did well in the car and I could not risk Autumn going thru the stress during her last days. Dr Louis helped Autumn cross the Rainbow Bridge and was very reassuring and helpful.
The toughest part about having fur babies is letting them go. We miss Autumn so much but I will never forget how Dr Louis helped us. I got her paw prints with 2 cards today. Thank you again! I highly recommend Dr Louis.

Our vet recommended Dr. Louis because our English Mastiff, Louie, is getting old and it's hard to take him out. Dr. Louis and Stacey were just here and it was a great experience. We know that she will be back again when it's time, but we are also comfortable knowing our big guy is getting treated for now, and we didn't have to try to get him in and out of a van. This was such a great experience.

Dr. Louis is amazing. She came to see my dog who was very ill. She was kind and caring-I felt like she found out more and cared more than the vet I had been taking her to for her entire 14 years. She and her assistant were wonderful. I would highly recommend her. I can’t express what a wonderful experience this was. Thank you Dr. Louis for being so compassionate and caring and for providing this service in our home.
