Caleb Lund
Owner
Caleb Lund, DVM, MS, DACVS-LA is a fifth-generation cattle rancher, from Lusk, Wyoming. His family has owned and operated the ranch continuously since the 1870s. Dr. Lund's interest in veterinary medicine began as a ranch kid, where he witnessed firsthand just how important large animal health is both personally and economically to ranching families.

Dr. Lund graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in veterinary medicine. His first job out of veterinary school was as an intern veterinarian at Pioneer Equine Hospital, an equine surgery center in Oakdale, California. This hands-on opportunity allowed him to earn a three-year equine surgery residency at Washington State University.

While at WSU he learned from several board-certified surgeons in all areas of equine surgery, including abdominal, airway, soft tissue, and orthopedic surgery, as well as lameness diagnosis. He was also able to study with the experts in other fields, including diagnostic imaging, anesthesia, and equine medicine. Caleb Lund successfully completed his surgical residency, passing his surgery board examination in 2014. Dr. Lund is the only full-time board-certified equine surgeon ( or Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons) in the Yellowstone area. Dr. Lund's professional interests include complex lameness diagnosis, upper airway conditions, and fracture repair.

He has authored papers in peer-reviewed veterinary journals on minimally invasive surgery, complex lameness diagnosis, and abdominal surgery, and he speaks at continuing-education meetings about conditions of the equine head. He is passionate about surgical innovation from both a practical and academic perspective, and he plans to continue these at Lund Equine.

We've only gone here when we've had to end the lives of our old horses. It's a very difficult decision but their compassion for horses and humans made the decision much easier to bear. We would recommend them for your horse care.

Caleb is extremely Knowledgeable and has been the best bet I’ve ever been around. He takes the time to explain everything and is completely honest. Most of all if something needs done, he does it right. I’d take any horse I have to him again, no questions asked. I’ve used him as a vet since I moved over this way 3 years ago and I’d highly recommend you go the extra mile to get your animal to him, it’s well worth it! Thanks again!

Very impressed. Caleb was there when my horse colicked. Gave his honest opinion since the horse was 26 years old. Was a hard decision but he was very sympathetic for us. Would definitely recommend him

This was my second time using this service and I definitely recommend them! My mare got colicky a couple weeks ago and I was able to buy some supplies from them and chatted with one of the techs who was very supportive and helpful when I told her my treatment plan. Unfortunately, my mare didn’t cooperate with my plan and we ended up needing further help. Dr Lund and his tech showed up at my place about an hour after I called his office, worked his impaction magic and my mare was back to her sassy self a couple days later. I’m so impressed with their professionalism and calm demeanor. Thank you Dr Lund and staff!

These guys have a top-notch practice. They deserve every one of their 5 stars. My friends own 3 horses. One of which, had severe colic. They gave my friends the horrible news about it being incurable, but were extremely supportive, nice, and sympathetic. It's hard to loose any pet, but they are amazing. If I ever dive into the world of horse owning, I know these guys will be my vet of choice. It's well worth the call and drive to their clinic. Amazing people.
