The Drake Center for Veterinary Care

We boarded our sweet dog here while we were away and she passed under their care. We dropped our dog off who we loved and cared for and who our vet (at a different practice) had just examined and said she was healthy to never being able to see her again. We trusted them as a medical boarding facility and that is the biggest mistake of our lives. Throughout her stay we got calls from Dr Borsak, who has horrible bedside manner, telling us she wasn’t doing well.

When I asked if we should change our flights and come back, we were told no she would be okay. On multiple calls we were told under the professional veterinarian opinions they did not think she was going to pass before we came back. We’d also check in daily and were told she was still eating and drinking, just struggling with her arthritis and walking.

We gave permission to run all tests they wanted, and all came back clear. Only to receive a voicemail a day before we returned that our dog had passed in the night. When we went to pick her up and transport her for final services we were told again by Dr Borsak that they can do the same services and we shouldn’t transport her - completely over stepping and sounded only to be interested in collecting more money from us.

They treated her for an ear infection while there - and she’s never had an ear infection before. I asked to speak to the vet tech that found her to get a clearer picture of what happened and was not allowed to. The reception staff put me in a room, alone and sobbing, before Dr Borsak came in. I asked what happened and was told it could have been her heart.

I explained her cardiologist had said her heart had returned to normal with her medications for over a year now. Again she said it was probably her heart. They didn’t care. Not once did anyone except one vet tech apologize for her passing. I still don’t feel like I have a clear picture of how her last few days were and felt no sympathy from them.

I just wanted to make sure she was cared for and not ignored. This has caused us severe guilt for leaving her there. To top it all off we received a voicemail on a Saturday afternoon, less than a week since she passed, trying to collect on their bill. Please take your dog to any boarding place besides here. Please don’t make the same mistake we did.

The veterinarians are very knowledgeable, caring and communicate well. I highly recommend this practice.

I understand now the different behaviour of our cat. As a new cat owner i want to learn more of their behaviour so i can take good care of them very well. Thanks for the right up.

My new favorite happy place for Zeppy! The whole staff was wonderful. Its as if we had been going to Drake Vet all along. It was our first time and they got us in, even with a booked schedule. They were all professional and very caring. Dr. Yan was exceptional and even called us that night to check in to see how Zeppy was doing! I am happy to say that we have a new Vet at the Drake Center for Veternarian.

My cat needed urgent care for a serious infection, and The Drake was able to get me in quickly. When I arrived my cat was in and being treated within minutes. Everybody was elcellent. Dr. Shotwell was wonderful with everything. She was awesome with my kitty and her communication was outstanding. Even with the difficulties presented by the no contact COVID precautions, everything was great. My kitty is on the mend and feeling good!

Dr. Dilworth and the entire Drake Center team are all amazing! Always wonderful for well kitty check-ups and amazing diagnostician for sick kitty ailments. Bleu and Cheddar are in the best possible hands

Love everything about The Drake Center! From the moment we walk into the front door until we leave is always such a positive experience; and everyone from the front desk to the back are amazing and treat us like family! Even though Drake Center is more expensive than some, I wouldn’t change it for the world because they are wonderful, caring, and you know your pet is in good hands. The experience I had with Canyon Creek animal hospital Was so devastating that it’s a blessing that I found Drake center for veterinary Care so what happened to my Precious little dog will never happen again.

Dr. Shotwell and her staff were so wonderful when I brought my cat in there to be euthanized. They are compassionate, so knowledgeable and walked me through the process. My dog is a patient and they treat him like he is their own. Thank you for being here for me today. It was a very sad day for me but you and your staff took away my anxiety.

Excellent care of my two cats Dickens & Rosco. All staff are very kind & helpful. Vets & their assistants most knowledgeable and caring. Answer all my questions and concerns. Provide nutritious pet foods for those that require special diets. Glad I started going there after I first moved to Carlsbad some 16 + years ago.

Thank you to the personnel of the Drake Center for taking such loving care of our Little Eddie on his first visit. He's a big boxer boy but so gentle. He had an ear hematoma and was scared; and you were kind & reassuring. The appointment was on time and reasonably priced. My husband was so impressed with the expertise and just as important to us, the care. Thank you for the exceptional bed side service!

Best advice and product on all the cutting edge flea treatments! The docs here know what works and what doesn't due to resistance. If it's over the counter your fleas know about it and laugh at you, while taking over your pets and living room. Dr. Drake saved our family and cats from a miserable summer of scratching - her knowledge eliminated the fleas in 1 life cycle! You guys rock!

We love everyone at Drake. From the reception staff, technicians to doctors we are treated as if our animal and our time is the most important. They work to communicate with us in the method that works best for us which for me is email. I can communicate with the doctors via email when I have follow-up questions which is great because they can do it while they're not trying to see other very important patients.

They have handled emergencies and deaths in our cat family with so much care and understanding that I can never express how grateful I am to them. If you want real, whole animal care this is the place to go!

Our family has been going to the Drake Center for Animal Health for over six generations of dogs. We love the friendly staff and the Vets are so knowledgeable and offer the latest services. When we call with a question or to book an appointment, any one of the staff knows our dog and it's history immediately. And our dog has always loved going there. We know because she gets so excited if we are within 3 blocks of the office.

I don't know about price, but the care and office help are first rate. I took my 3 year old grandson when I had Lilly's teeth looked at and a girl in the front came around and made Liam feel special. She showed him the toy box and talked to him for a while. I was impressed

Been with the Drake center from the beginning. We moved from Olivenhain to Fallbrook, but won't take our dogs and cats anywhere else. They are current on all the new technology and have made our pets lives better and longer. Thanks Michelle and Keala.

We love this place & so do our 3 cats! Every vet we have met has been amazing! They always get us in & have been there with answers, help, & treat our pets like their own!

Only angels work at the Drake Center...from techs to vets and everyone else. Seriously awesome, knowledgeable animal lovers...every single one. I can't imagine entrusting the care of my 3 fur kids to anyone else! Thank you Drake Center for 16 years of loving care.
