My love for animals had started early on in my life. I had spent my entire childhood with our wonderful dog named Jimmy. His companionship inspired me to become a veterinarian and pick a profession where I get to help and spend a lot of my time with other furry friends.
I graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry from Punjab Agricultural University in India and went on to receive my Master's in Veterinary Pathology in 1998 from the same university. Then I finished a graduate program in Clinical Pathology and received my diploma in Clinical Pathology in 1999 from Ontario Veterinary College in Canada. I then, traveled in 2000 to Oklahoma State University where I completed a year of clinical training. I have worked in Seattle, WA as an associate initially and then as a chief of the staff for about three years in a busy veterinary clinic and then I moved to a multi-doctor 24-hour practice in Brooklyn, NY in 2004 where I worked for 3 years and got a wonderful experience of managing critically ill patients. In July of 2007, I joined Brighton-Eggert Animal Clinic in Buffalo, NY and managed this 9 DVM practice as a medical director for 7 years. We relocated to Sand diego in 2014 and I joined Lifetime Animal Care Center and managed this 3 DVM practice for 3 years. In 2017, I bought Rancho Bernardo Pet Hospital and fulfilled my longterm dream of owning my own veterinary hospital.
My areas of interest include feline medicine, geriatric care, diagnostic imaging, dentistry and clinical pathology. I am an avid learner and always enjoy attending various continuing education and seminars for keeping my knowledge cutting edge. When not working, I enjoy traveling, reading and sampling different ethnic cuisines. We reside in 4S Ranch with my wife, son & daughter and am luck to get an opportunity to serve our local community in Rancho Bernardo.

This is the best vet ever after spending hours in a different urgent care and nothing being done for my cat, this vet saw my cat between appointments and gave him the best care and the vet even sent me videos of him feeding my cat after his procedure to let me know everything was ok. This vet is affordable and the best care you could have for your pet.

I have been taking my Havanese to Rancho Bernardo Pet Hospital since she was a puppy and she is now 12 years old. I was always happy with them. Well II was not not happy with my last experience with Dr. Sondhi.a few days ago. My dog has a problem and saw Dr. Sondhi. After my visit she still has a problem. Called the office the last 2 days and left a message to speak to Dr. Sondhi about her problem and he never called back or heard from anyone else. Not very happy, ! I will be taking my fur baby to another veterinarian to get her problem taken care of.

Dr Sondhi and his staff are superb! Dr Sondhi is a very seasoned and a practical vet. Explains everything in a simple easy to understand at the end of every visit. He doesn't push for any services/treatment that is not required - infact gives practical workarounds to avoid expensive treatments. It is important to have a strong team of experts to care for your loved ones and we are lucky to have found the RB Pet hospital.

Compassionate and professional care. When my co-worker's elderly sick dog was beyond help and needed to be euthanized, she couldn't find a Vet to help her, in a short amount of time - some offices saying 1 week out, after calling several different offices. I called Dr. Sondhi and he fit her in, right away. Co-worker was thankful for the kind, quick service to help get her pet out of pain.
Highly recommend. Never a long wait for an appointment, our fur baby loves Dr. Sondhi. The only reason for 4 versus 5 stars is because his partner is not at his level of service and pushes for additional, unneeded services, which Dr. Sondhi does not do.

My parents cat has a mysterious gash in her side and after calling several other clinics around town, they were the only ones willing to schedule an appointment for the same day (within an hour actually). They were very professional and finished cleaning and closing up her wound a little earlier than the time quoted. The price was very reasonable and we will definitely return for future veterinary needs to Rancho Bernardo Pet Hospital.

This is our dog Mickey after dental procedure (over $900) at Rancho Bernardo Pet Hospital. All our dogs had dental procedures done before (different vet) and NEVER came back home looking like this. No matter what their response will be, this is not acceptable and there is no excuse for sending your dog home looking like he was beat up.

Honest fair and compassionate are all words that come to mind when I think of my experience here. I have 2 dogs (1 with severe anxiety) that have both gone here since they were little. The staff has been patient with my dog who is terrified of the vet and has made accommodations so that he feels comfortable when he is there. My other dog (accident prone) has had another surgery at another vet and was traumatized.
When he was diagnosed with cancer and the staff made sure that I as the owner was informed and assured he would be given the best care. They were able to remove the tumor and my pup is living a healthy and happy lifestyle and was not traumatized by the surgery like in the past. Even after moving further away I wouldn't take my boys to anyone else!

My dog had had some kind of skin issue on his elbow for a few weeks, but never seemed to bothered him. I had been planning on making an appointment with the vet, but have been so busy with other things. This afternoon I was grabbing some lunch in the plaza and I happened to have my dog with me. I figured I would stop in quick and show the receptionist a photo to see if it warranted a more urgent visit.
She asked one of the veterinarians who was in the clinic (but not actually working) to look at the photo. He insisted that we go out to my vehicle and take a look at Maverick. He did a very quick assessment and gave me recommendations on the spot. I am super appreciative for that and they've made us and any future fur baby's patients for life!

We've only taken our little guy to the RBPH a few times for medical-related visits - dental work which required anesthesia and several booster shots - but we take him to be bathed and groomed every few weeks. No matter the reason for the visit, the staff is always welcoming and professional. Though more than ready to be picked up, he's always in good spirits and is happy and healthy.
The prices may be a little higher than you would pay if you shopped around, but the service you'll get and the treatment your pet will receive is always top notch at the RBPH.

My bichon poodle, Riley, is 5 years old, and in those 5 years I have not found a vet I could trust more than Dr. Sondhi. Riley is very wary of strangers, but he always behaves himself at this pet hospital. I am impressed with how the staff take their time in gaining my dog's trust, and with how I feel invited to be involved in my dog's care. Dr. Sondhi is thorough and personalizes his care, always very accommodating, and makes sure pet parents are well-educated. Everything is explained in detail, and I finally feel safe entrusting my dog's well-being with a healthcare professional who cares about my dog as much as I do.

So I've only been here once, as I took my two new kitties (rescues) in for ear mites today - here's my thoughts:
Good pricing. I called ahead to several different vets to request quotes and they were very upfront about what type of services they would recommend for mites and what they would cost. When I brought them in they went through an itemized bill showing what each step would cost before treatment began.
Very happy with that. The Vet seemed very knowledgeable and competent. He explained everything very clearly ... he did a swab for the mites, then let me see them under a microscope later - very cool! All in all seems like a nice local Vet in Rancho Bernardo. Everyone was friendly - there were about 3 assistants also helping the vet with the checkup so the kittens got lots of attention. Would recommend!

We started coming here initially just for grooming needs (somehow I rescued two dogs that need frequent anal gland expressions! ) and this vet is located conveniently by my house. The staff are extremely friendly, both on the phone and in person, and you can tell they all genuinely care about their doggy clients. Rancho Bernardo is a great place. Veterinary care is A+. The staff is wondetful and they are always happy to see Pita. She also goes for an occasional "spa" day and gets a bath and her nails done. Pita is boarded there when we need to go out of town. She is very well taken care of and I never have to worry. Thank you Rancho Bernardo Hospital.

We no longer had a regular vet because the last vet we had almost killed our dog, after pressuring us for a year or so into spending money, money and more money on unnecessary treatments. My dog had a terrible time with a hot spot and, after trying every home remedy we could, we finally called RB Pet Hospital on a Saturday morning and they got us in within a few hours that day.
This vet makes suggestions, but does not pressure and understands that not everyone has extra disposable income. The staff and doctors are so nice and knowledgeable. We love these guys and they are our new vet!

Rancho Bernardo Pet Hospital has been a real pleasant surprise for me. I raise show pigeons and when I asked if they would be willing to see them and provide a health certificate, they didn't hesitate to help me. They even enjoyed looking at my birds! They are terrific and it is worth it for me to travel farther to see them over other vets!

I "followed" Dr. Sondhi from a previous veterinary clinic, because I was so impressed with his medical skills as well as how he interacts with me and my dogs. One dog, in particular, is "stranger anxious" and Dr. Sondhi knew just how to approach her so that she relaxed for her visit. My other dog suffers from a complex immune-mediated disorder and his confidence and knowledge in how to deal with it has put me tremendously at ease. The staff is very friendly and courteous, competent and helpful. It's a bit of a drive for me, but so worth it to take my dogs to this Pet Hospital.
