Services
At Cottonwood we understand the special bond people have with their pets and we treat your pet like family. We strive to help them enjoy a long, happy and healthy life with you by providing sound veterinary advice and exceptional care. Client education is one of our top priorities and we know that the best veterinary care starts with a knowledgeable owner and a caring health provider. We are a full service animal hospital providing comprehensive healthcare services to pets in Jenison and the surrounding areas.
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, Cottonwood Veterinary Clinic stresses the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
One of the most important factors in keeping our pets healthy is preventing problems before they can occur. Here are a few easy things that can help keep them safe. Fleas and ticks can not only make your pets uncomfortable and anxious but they can also spread serious disease. Ticks can attach and cause problems in colder months as well as warm ones and fleas can live inside on unprotected pets.
Dental disease is very common in dogs and cats. The most common problem is tartar buildup on the teeth. This can cause bad breath, recession of the gingiva as well as lead to loose or abscessed teeth. A dental cleaning is often needed to protect your pets teeth from disease. During your pet's dental procedure they will be under full anesthesia so we are able to clean the teeth properly and create a stress free experience for your pet. We electrically scale and polish the teeth, flush the mouth to remove tartar and bacteria, as well as apply a fluoride treatment.

I had just adopted a 9 year old Shitzu who became very sick with a cough. I called Cottonwood Veterinary clinic and they got me in right away the next morning. They knew just what it was (kennel cough) and treated my new pup with lots of love and meds. Now she is on her way to recovery and doing great! I would highly recommend them and will be using them for all of my veterinarian needs

Dr Nied was new to us but we really liked her. She is very comprehensive in her exams, clear in her explanations and listens to everything the pet owner has to say. As always the center is clean and inviting and the support staff is friendly, helpful and professional. It is easy to tell that everyone working here cares about your pets and the owners. Had another wonderful experience with Dr Nied.
We found a stray cat and while we try to locate the owner wanted to be sure the cat was safe to be around our other pets. She took us in for an appointment within 2 hours. Was very upfront about what tests we should do and the cost involved. Checked for a microchip but no luck there. Dr Nied rapidly is becoming my favorite vet and if we keep the stray cat she will certainly be the cat's veterinarian.

I've been going to Cottonwood for a few years now, off and on. Initially I just used them for my dog's surgery, but since he's now blown both his CCLs, they're officially his primary care as well. They understand him being a giant scaredy cat and they're okay with him needing more time to adjust than most dogs. I appreciate all their hard work and am so thankful that they're willing to work with him!

I love this place, this is my second review and I am just back to say that they are still on top of their game. We have 2 cats, and wanted them to be seen - just a routine check-up though one cat has a bit of a bump on the leg. They were a little over a week out on routine appointments, but as I mentioned the bump they made room earlier to have just him seen next day (it was just a slightly swollen lymph node).
I really appreciate that they keep opening to take care of more urgent cases instead of stuffing their schedule to the top. Very little wait time, everyone is super friendly and absolutely amazing with our cats. I like that they don't have a lot of turnover and you see the same friendly faces - to me a good sign that they treat their employees well and have decent compensation - I don't like places with high employee turnover. Highly recommended!

The staff is amazing! Our family has gone to Cottonwood for over 15 years. They’ve helped guide us through dog emergencies, new puppy troubles and the difficult stage of saying goodbye. I appreciate how they take the time to explain things and answer questions. My dog actually licks her lips when we pull in; she knows her vet has treats & belly rubs ❤

Hands down the most compassionate, caring and thoughtful vet I have ever dealt with. They have kept in touch and made everything very clear bill wise as well as my kittens health wise. Extremely clean and updated and well kept. They have also been very honest and genuine and although the bill added up quickly they continued to offer ways to receive the same quality of treatment but also helped save some money along the way which is always an added stress during a time when a pet is sick.
I couldn’t give them enough positive praise for the help and compassion they have shown. Regardless what happens in my kittens surgery I know that he was put into the best hands possible.

This veterinary office is absolutely wonderful. We had a very bad experience with our prior vet clinic that is here in the area twice now and I was not about to allow them to have three strikes so we moved to Cottonwood and I couldn’t be happier. They got us in the same day we called for our dog and scheduled her surgery for 2 days later when her vet that she has been going to her entire life wouldn’t see her for 5 days. The staff here is great, very personable, and very caring. Thank you so much to all of you.

Brody, my soon to be 7 year old shih tzu has been going to Cottonwood since a puppy. The staff is always super helpful and friendly while the vets are so kind and intelligent. They were able to help out when Brody was severely dehydrated this summer and saved my parents dogs life. Thanks Cottonwood!!

We have been bringing our animals to Cottonwood for over 12 years. We have never been disappointed. Their staff is so kind, compassionate, and understanding. The vets there really take the time to discuss options and answer any questions. They also frequently call to follow up on how we are doing. We are always able to get appointments when needed and they truly understand how important our pets are to our family. Love them!!!
