Pine Point Animal Hospital is pleased to be serving animal-loving families of Southern Maine. We founded our hospital in December of 2005 with the aim of delivering medical, surgical and dental care with personal attention and compassion for you and your companions. Our patients include dogs, cats, birds, ferrets, rabbits, rats, mice, hamsters, guinea pigs and chinchillas.
Services
Medical Diagnostics
Report
We provide a broad range of medical diagnostics including a full in-house blood analyzer that allows us to assess critical cases and direct treatment immediately. Other laboratory services include cytology, fecal analysis using numerous staining techniques, blood differentials, fungal cultures and urine analysis. We have an x-ray unit at the hospital as well. Ultimately, if your companion's case calls for advanced diagnostics, we have a close working relationship with numerous outside laboratories and clinics in order to provide additional diagnostics that are best to help your pet.
Surgery
Report
We have a full surgical suite with advanced anesthetic monitoring equipment and surgical electrocautery. We routinely care for our surgical patients by offering intravenous catheter placement and heated intravenous fluids, providing intra-operative heating and post-operative oxygen for optimal recovery from inhalant anesthesia. A technician is assigned to the surgery doctor and is responsible to provide additional nursing care and anesthetic monitoring during the surgery and during recovery.
Dental Care
Report
We also offer dental care to include prophylactic or therapeutic cleanings, extractions, gingival biopsies, bone biopsies and other dental procedures. We utilize a state-of-the-art dental unit that allows us to perform ultrasonic scaling to clean and high-speed drilling when needed. We also have digital dental xray capabilities to assess teeth during each cleaning.

For me, The Folks at Pine Pint Animal hospital are Amazing. They have helped me with so many issues, complex and simple. They go above and beyond for my four footers and me, especially in these stressful times. I feel like we are cared for like family. I am very Grateful for them and cannot Thank or Recommend them Enough.

They're always looking for ways to improve their veterinary services including the animals they care for, how they communicate with their clients, and the types of services they provide. They took excellent care of my previous dog and continue to do so with my current one. The staff and vets are Deaf-friendly, so they know how to communicate effectively with their Deaf clients (including ASL/sign language, texting, and writing back and forth). There's no where else I would rather take my furbabies for their vet care!

I have several pets so we visit the clinic often. We moved to the area just over a year ago and started using Pine Point. I love all the doctors and the staff are all very friendly and professional. They really care about my furkids and anytime I have a question I know they will get back to me asap.

Love this vet! Started by bringing our three rats here and ended up switching our cats over to them as well since they were so awesome! Dr. Anne especially is so knowledgeable and compassionate and also listens to any concerns you may have as an owner. We unfortunately had to put down two of our rats here and the care they gave to us and our little ladies at the end of their life was amazing. Their vet techs are the sweetest! I wish I could remember your names because I would shout you out you made an awful day much more bearable.

We sought veterinary care here for our two dogs when we first moved to Maine three years ago. The vets are thorough; the staff all seem friendly and respectful. The place is clean and the atmosphere is welcoming for both pet and owner. One of my dogs gets quite upset during his visits, and the staff are always compassionate, patient, and transparent.
I never have any issues reaching them by phone or scheduling appointments. The appointment reminders are nice, too. I appreciate their electronic record keeping so that I can maintain a printed copy of all exams, vaccinations, tests and procedures. I would say the prices have been fair. We tried another vet after we moved farther north, but recently returned--they simply do a great job. Worth the commute south.

I'm sure they're lovely with cats and dogs but I brought my ferret in yesterday, and they ran tests, and pointed me to another animal hospital in Boston. I was told they'd forward the information to them, but when I got to the vet in Boston two hours away, I had to get another set of x-rays for 300 dollars. I spent 400 dollars at a vet just to sit around and waste my time and it didn't even help in the long run. My ferret wound up passing away that night. I wouldn't suggest them if you have an emergency. If I could give a zero I would.

Have been going there for years. Excellent vets. I tried several in the Portland area before meeting the two women who started this practice at another vet practice. They and the other vets as well as the support staff are all competent and genuinely care about the animals under their care. I recommend them to anyone who needs care for their pets.

We adopted our first puppy last year and the thought of picking a vet was so stressful. Pine Point was recommended to us so we chose to have her first appointment there. Dr. Katie was who we chose and she answered all our questions and made it the best experience!! All the workers there are awesome and our little girl LOVES going to the vet!! Reasonable pricing and superb customer service will always make this our vet of choice!!

I just want to add, since I don't see it mentioned, that this office has an enormous amount of experience caring for ferrets. Not only that, but the entire staff was extremely kind and gentle throughout the visit. They were able to see us "same day", their appointments were running on time, they sent us home with all the info we needed and the bill was reasonable. One of the best vet experiences I have ever had.

It's always extremely difficult to talk about our pet babies, especially when they're sick, but I can't say enough good things about Pine Point Animal Hospital and how exceptionally well they handled a high-maintenance rabbit and his emotionally devastated pet parent. As my rabbit has gotten older he's had a couple GI Stasis issues; the first time it happened, the vet I had been going to to helped him get through it quickly.
When it happened again, we called the same vet to see if they could work their magic again. They told us they couldn't actually help us with this issue and suggested we go to another vet. Very weird, very frustrating, and the "final straw" for us dealing with them as they had been difficult to work with in the past (they really aren't rabbit people despite what we heard).
So we came to Pine Point... and although it's a 20+ minute drive from my house, I think we've found our new vet. I couldn't imagine going anywhere else now. Their professionalism is unmatched, but more importantly - the way in which they genuinely care about the lives of furry friends is beautiful. While waiting, we witnessed much of the staff go into a room and grieve together as one of the cats they had been treating since they started as a practice pass away.
Oh man, the feels just watching that. The facilities are clean and spacious. You would never know they were an animal hospital. More importantly, they handled my rabbit with ease and grace; I never once felt like "they're doing it wrong". They encouraged me to assist in holding him when necessary or talking to him in, y'know, the stupid voices we all have for our fur children.
They allowed me to be as hands-on as I could be while they worked on giving him an entire physical (which was traumatizing to watch - I'm sure my poor Boo would agree). They also gave him an X-Ray sans sedation (which we've been told by other vets is impossible) and housed him for the day to monitor him. In the end - through force feeding with critical care and hydration gel - they treated his GI Stasis in, albeit it in a much slower manner than the last time, a much more natural way. Couldn't recommend these amazing humans to take care of your amazing pets more!

Wow, will my dog miss these vets and their fine staff. My dog is the type that catches everything........giardia, kennel cough, eye infections, punctures to the paw, you name it. The staff always took us in the same day and worked us into their busy schedules. I can't ever thank you enough for helping me keep my buddy healthy. There is only one person who is able to cut my dog's nails........Petra. Amazing! Max never even knew his nails were being cut.
Everyone else had to muzzle him and this is the ONLY place that knew how to get the job done without hassle. A fine group of professional women! I hope that I am fortunate enough to find another group as kind as you when I move. I HIGHLY recommend this animal hospital. The staff is so loving. My dog leaps into the front seat, tail wagging, as soon as I pull in the parking lot. He LOVES going to the vet!!
