Most commonly, intestinal parasites include roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms, whipworms, and giardia. All are very common in our area. In most instances, these parasites do not cause external symptoms in pets, making biannual testing and monthly preventative measures imperative. In people, these parasites are not as well tolerated and can lead to serious diseases.

I couldn't give ENOUGH credit to the SUNSET ANIMAL HOSPITAL STAFF. First of all, it doesn't matter how many years of experience you have in the veterinary field. Your mind goes BLANK when it's your OWN Furbaby. I was woken up my hearing my Furbaby vomiting && after a while she was having bloody diarrhea. Heading to the ER is never a Happy time until you're picking up your love one from treatment Coming through the doors my heart was heavy & when I got there I checked in like everyone else && waited my turn to be seen.

The CSR's could tell I was in a panic & reassured me that it was okay. My technicians & Dr's could tell I was scared && talked to me calmly as I'm pretty sure I had the look of being out of my element. {Panic pet parent mode} Afterwards knowing the treatment plan/ Estimate that she's will be getting she was being admitted to the ICU Unit to which is when my heart strings were pulled and my voice started to crack.

But I kissed lieutenant Tinkerbell on the face && said I'll see you soon && get better. I knew I couldn't treat her the way they could here around the clock due to her symptoms. A piece of my world was in their hands && all I could do was Prayer && think happy thoughts && say THANK YOU for helping her. But you see at SUNSET ANIMAL HOSPITAL they have 3 shifts which means those you don't see when your Furbaby is being admitted are other Furbaby heroes saving your loved ones around the clock too. That's what other people don't understand. it's AROUND THE CLOCK CARE & yes it can be time sensitive or feel like forever because all you're focusing on is WHEN do I get her back.

But it's more then that. It's how your furbaby is responding to the treatment plan & the diagnostics have a timeframe for the results. Did I call to check up on my baby ABSOLUTELY. but I also knew that these people are in this field for a reason. and even talking to the Overnight tech I said THANK YOU for everything after she gave me an update and her response was: "it's fine, it's what we do & that's why we're here".

I know reading the bad reviews here can turn you away, but you also have to understand it's an EMERGENCY ROOM && do we ever post on human ER hospital after our visit. Rarely, we're more focused/grateful we have our beloved babies with us. So THANK YOU EVERYONE for taking care of my baby Lieutenant Tinkerbell. She means the world to me and our family.

2 large dogs can intimidate. Not here the employees treated them like the 110 lb puppies that they are. Went through their health records, explained things and made helpful suggestions to save time and money.

Sunset is a wonderful animal hospital! I can't say enough about how kind and understanding they were when I brought in a rescued kitten who needed help. These people are angels!

Was seen immediately at vergi animal hospital after waiting over 5hrs at Sunset-- being told I was next for 4 of those hours. My boy had acute pancreatitis and severe dehydration. I watched several animals get triaged in front of me, that were in no worse shape. They even saw him throw up water and still had me wait another 45 mins before I finally stormed out and went to Vergi.

I just didn't say the right combo of words to get an assessment I guess. Find a better system of triage, and be honest about timing, because I could have gotten him help a lot sooner.

Don't waste your time coming here especially in a state of emergency. I called and they immediately put me on hold for ten minutes. My boyfriend called after and was able to speak to someone right away. I confirmed if my dog could be seen asap because she had her first seizure - the receptionist was very assuring that my dog could be seen since it was an urgent matter.

We arrive and start filling out paperwork and then one receptionist comes up to me with no empathy and told us the machines were broken and my dog could no longer be seen. Another emergency came up, and said that it wasn't the other receptionist's fault for giving me misinformation and walked away. They do not care about you or your babies. Extremely rude and incompetent staff.

We had to emergency bring my french bully in at 2am they got him in within the hour and they not only took great care of him they kept us well informed the whole staff from the front desk the tech and the dr we're all really sweet kind and patient, Especially the dr i don't remember her name but she was so kind and you can tell she really cares about the animals.

I even called later that day inquiring about the dog and the lady who helped me on the phone was also very sweet and informative. I will be returning to sunset incase of emergency!

Dr Paul Young was only true excellent veterinarian in Houston! It's so hard I have not found a vet that can help the cats I rescued! I got 3 opinions on my poor cat not eating. Two after x-rays cleaned teeth & pulled a tooth! Within a year of each. The 3 rd opinion said pull all the teeth without even taking or looking at X-ray. Cat is elderly, lived in a drainage & I tried my best to care for him. After antibiotic shot, he did great for 3 months. Not sure why they won't give me antibiotics to help him eat. I don't want him to die hungry.

Our sweet, handsome Bowie developed UTI symptoms and our regular vet was closed. As a first timer to this animal hospital, I was very impressed. Easy check-in, friendly staff and knowledgeable veterinarian. Knowing the nature of visiting an emergency center, I expected a wait.we *maybe* sat for 10 minutes. Easy and smooth in and out visit. Will definitely return! Thank you for your kindness!

My 4 year old puggle was misdiagnosed and sent home without testing for HGE. He passed away five hours after being sent home with tons of meds and not the one blood test that could have saved his life. He was extremely lethargic and still bleeding when sent home. He couldn't even walk more than a couple of steps outside, let alone go up stairs that he usually ran up two at a time. Chewie was the best companion dog that I ever had, always happy and energetic. That's why I knew he needed medical attention that day and rushed him to the emergency vet. Dr. Hsu failed to treat him correctly the first time I brought him to this "hospital".

It took six follow up calls for me to even get to speak to to her, since she originally diagnosed him that day. Chewie deserved better and I'll always regret bringing my baby boy to this place.

We visited this office for the first time and did not have a great experience. My husband called on a Thursday to make an appointment to have our cat euthanized. They asked him minimal questions and said they could take her if we dropped her off only on Friday. We thought that was odd and "scheduled" to come in Friday afternoon. When we showed up the front desk staff told us that there were no vets in on Fridays and they couldn't help us and could not have cared any less.

We had both taken time off of work and drove 30 minutes into town with a cat that was stressed for a terrible situation already. So glad we ended up going to another vet and would not go there again.

So far so good. My pet loves it here and they love him. We came to finish out his last shots many months ago and since then have visited monthly for his preventatives. Some of the things that I like: *Kind/friendly staff *Not usually a long wait *Open 24hrs *Neat & clean facility Some of the things I didn't care for: *During the holidays there were some miscommunications about their holiday rates for an exam. *Also, there's a holiday rate *My dog has a bald spot from either the shots or microchip that has yet to grow back and the medication that was given did nothing

Let me first start off by saying they say it's a walk in curbside appointment except you can't walk in, there's a sign on the door that says the lobby is closed because of Covid outbreak and I'm here now and there is a two hour wait. I did call before I came the lady told me I can come right up she didn't say anything about a wait. Secondly they have a form online that you can fill out but apparently they don't even have it so I have to refill it out and I'm not I'm going to I have an email saying they received it. I feel like this could all be avoided if they made appointments instead of just walk ins.

They took such great care of my standard poodle, who accidentally ate my sons sock. They took him right away, were upfront with the costs involved and were very kind. I would absolutely take him here again if need be.

If you read my review from 1/7/22, you will understand my continued frustration with SUNSET ANIMAL HOSPITAL in Houston TX. The response I received from Sunset Animal Hospital from Mary W. on 1/10/22 stated Ciera Thorndike (not sure of her title) would be reaching out to me regarding my concerns. As of today, I have not received any call back (nor an email) from this person.

The response from Mary W also states I may call Ms. Throndike "directly" at: 713-526-5881. This phone contact is the "general number" to Sunset Animal Hospitals front desk not a direct number. This morning I had another issue with Sunset Animal Hospital. Payment of an outstanding bill for charges 1/4/22 for a friend of mine. Sunset has my credit card on file and required me to come to their location on 12/23/21 (two days before Christmas) to present my payment in person or they would not take care of the animal who needed immediate medical attention.

They refused to take my credit card information over the phone. I took time out of my day to go to Sunset to give them the form of payment. Recently I had a rescue animal in Wisconsin that needed to have medical bills paid. The veterinarian (who does not know me) was able to take my credit card information over the phone, so why could Sunset not do that, especially since I am a client in "great standing" who ALWAYS assumes financial responsibility of any animal I have taken there.

After long drawn-out conversations this morning, my payment was taken over the phone! So, it could be done. We all understand the issue of "money" and "payments" for services and goods. BUT people need to "step outside the box", think about how they would want to be treated if they needed help. Be compassionate and caring to those who are seeking help, give them options, don't "close the door". AGAIN, I reiterate: "Many people, rescuers, and pet owners in this world understand you cannot put a price tag on the life of an animal wither it is your pet or not." Take pride in your job, especially when it affects someone else's well-being or the well-being of a loved one.

I had a recommendation to try Sunset by a friend. Called in November, couldn't get an appointment in December because they were not accepting appointments, only walk ins in December (?) So I made the very first appointment they had in January on the 5th. I just get a call on New Years Eve saying they will not honor my appointment and that I could be a walk in. (?) I would have to hand my puppy over to strangers, this would be my first appointment!

I don't even know these people, I would never just hand over my dog to a complete stranger and go sit in my car. I had informed them when making my appointment that my puppy is on a special prescription canned dog food for sensitive stomach and I was needing some but I would try to make it until the 5th. I am now dangerously close to being out of food and the only time I now can make an appointment is on January 17!

This is outrageous! They won't even sale me the food even though they canceled my appointment! I had asked them to get the records from my previous vet to see she was on this food but apparently they had not even done this. They would have been able to see she was indeed on this food and sold me some to hold me until the 17th but obviously this was not an option.

This is my dogs food, it's not something I can buy at a store, only through a vet. So, it is clear to me, they do not put the pet needs first. So glad they showed me this side of them before I spent any money with them. Definitely looking elsewhere, somewhere where they have compassion for the animal and it's needs. My puppy needed this food and I was denied my appointment even though I made it over a month in advance and THEY canceled on me. Businesses have but one chance to make a good first impression and they have failed miserably.

I've had a disappointing experience on two occasions. Sadly, both occurred at the loss of a pet. The first Time I utilize their services to put my pet down, and to cremate the remains returning them to me. I never received any remains and my account was credited. Since they were nice about it, I did it a second time. What's the chances of it happening again?

My 16-year-old Chihuahua passed in her sleep and I took her in to be cremated. This time they do not have any remains, but they do have a paw print. I am livid. When we were there, their system was down and I was unable to pay. I've called on two occasions and attempted to pay and their system was down again. I just received threatening text message saying they're sending me to third-party collections for not paying $250 for NOT cremating my dog.

This is absurd and extremely offensive especially in the face of a loss of a 16 year old pet. This is inexcusable. I am going to pay the bill, NOT return to the clinic, and post reviews citing 100% accurate facts of what occurred. I will pay them twice that amount if they will just return the cremation remains of my dog to me. I have the remains of every pet I've owned.

Once is a mistake, twice as absolutely ridiculous. I am awaiting the practice manager to return my call, but what are they really going to say? There are a plethora of veterinarian locations in Houston, please do not go to this one, especially to utilize their end of life services. Dr. Terry Nelson

Do NOT bring your pet here! I had a terrible experience with this location. Arrived with my dog at around 9pm she had a severely swollen foot which we clearly mentioned we had been at a ranch and it could have been a spider or snake but we were unsure. We waited about 2 hours and our dog began to shiver so we asked for some attention. We asked for my dog to be carried because she was limping and didnt want to put weight on her swollen paw the vet tech took my dog and when she brought her back to us in the waiting room she was WALKING her and told us she was not critical.

We then went on to wait another 30-40 minutes we were called into a room and asked almost no questions but we once again repeated the situation. Our dog was taken to the back to be "checked" and we sat in the room without updates until 1:30am when we went to the front and asked for our dog we wanted atleast an update. That whole time our dog had been alone in a kennel and had not been checked.

On top of that as we waited for hours in the room without our dog we could hear the vet techs laughing and messing around. About another 30 minutes go by and the vet tech comes back and tells us she needs a steroid and antibiotic injection and then realizes she made a mistake leaves and comes back with the correct medication list and we agree to the suggestions and they send us home didnt ask us anything else and did not give us any sort of solution as to what was wrong.

We go home our dogs paw swells up more and the next morning we rush to our loved regular vet who after 5 MINUTES of inspecting the paw was able to pull out splinters and identify the swelling to be associated with a snake or spider bite. Our dog is now facing the possibility of a toe amputation because Sunset Animal Hospital was negligent and did not care to inspect her paw well enough even after we stated our assumptions of a bite.

It is clear her paw was NOT well checked because our vet pulled splinters out and our dog was on a bed from the moment we left the hospital to the morning we took her to the vet again. I absolutely hate this location and they should not have people working around the clock who do not care enough to do their job. It is absolutely infuriating to know that as a parent we reacted quickly and seeked help with the vets at this hospital and they absolutely disappointed us and now our poor lab is at risk of losing her toe because action was not taken by the vets here. Do NOT bring your dog here!

The staff is so rude and unprofessional, it is difficult to even have a conversation with them. They are terribly overpriced. Provide terrible customer service. And have it limited ability to answer questions regarding the prt, however you can't even get to a vet. They bring your dog back in the back to treat them. I don't know if this is a Covid thing, but I am horrified at the treatment me and my dog received at this place. Do not take your dog here if you love them.

I was impressed the first visit with my dog and accepted the charges. However, this places changes doctors and staff every shift and when I came in the second time I was informed that I need to retest again after I had called and was informed I only needed to do an ultra sound for $100 which is the wrong price. I was under duress and would never do this alone again, since I hesitantly accepted the second set of charges and they never had the first xrays read nor asked me if I wanted that done?

Then they charged again for the same work including reading the xrays, which was only two days prior. All I got was things have changed in your dog and we are concerned. After two hours to hear the results I am informed my dog needs surgery right away because they do not know where the fluid is coming from and have to open him up. The charge was quoted of $4k to $5k.

At this time I am already out of pocket with Care Credit for $2800 and they truly will not touch your dog without a payment or credit cards. Never go alone with your pet without a person who can see through all of this and I should of read the reviews before I went. My dog may be sick but is doing better and I am not clear why they could not diagnose him correctly the first time and just do a ultra sound.

When you have different people and different doctors and a system to charge you is not right. Then hand you a list of lower price clinics. I truly do not believe this was handled financially or for the well being of my dog. I do not recommend this place.

I had to take my cat in to have an abscess that he had bitten cleaned and antibiotics administered. I was super nervous about it =/ They cleaned the area well, gave him a shot of antibiotics, (after calling me to see if I wanted them to give him a shot or have me give him pills) and they had him back to me in less than 5 hours. I was very relieved, and the bill was reasonable.

The man I spoke with on the phone was very informative and helpful and got me in next day. The lobby had a couple of loud dogs in it, so I waited for a few minutes to bring my boy in. The woman at the front desk wasn't super personable, kind of gave me the impression she didn't like cats since she was much more friendly to the dog owners who were in there, but she answered my questions.

After I had finished the very brief paperwork, another woman came up to get my cat and she seemed much more friendly and made me feel a bit better by taking an interest in my boy. Overall, I'd say 4 Stars, 8/10. They were fast, affective, and fair, and kept me in the loop, even if all of them didn't have perfect costomer service. I would still recommend them overall, especially for dogs. =)

We've been going to them for about a year now and were super grateful initially for them getting our pup in quickly (other vet offices had long wait times for new patients) and their convenient puppy plan. However, we have recently not felt like this place is a good fit for our dog anymore. Our pup is higher energy and very anxious at the vet, and they have seemed very annoyed with our dog - who will eventually calm if you are patient and gentle with her.

While I understand that people are tired and patience can be low, our pup deserves to be cared for instead of treated like a burden on their day. We will be finding somewhere else to take our pup, but hopefully if you try them out your experience will be different.

My cat has been limping and they got me in really quickly; I dropped her off and picked her up a couple hours later. I had them do her rabies and other shots while she was there. They didn't charge me for the exam and only for the vaccines! Who does that?! They were really great with her and friendly to me. I can't speak highly enough! I found my new vet!

Don't be fooled by the convenient hours and the great location. Seriously, going else where is worth the drive and/or wait. Sunset misdiagnosed my animal and charged an arm and a leg for simple services. It doesn't seem like the staff cares about the animals they see. Trust me, go elsewhere!

They are terrific! We were visiting for summer & our Lhasa injured his leg. After calling several local vets offices & taking him to pet urgent care (who really didn't help us for what they charge) we were referred by another vets office to Sunset. They got him in right away, did physical exam & recommended a course of action which we followed, and our guy did so much better! I don't know what we would have done as your regular vet was 1,850 miles away! All staff was kind & respectful. Very nice place to go for our baby boy

Very COVID safe. You can't enter the facility, so upon arrival you call & they text you the forms (it was my first time here) to fill out. Once it's your turn, you get a call to exit your car and meet a vet tech at the door. I went in with my dog a few weeks ago, when she had, what turned out to be--hemorrhagic diarrhea (it was bloody and I was low key freaking out--didn't want the pup to get scared).

We arrived at 1AM, and we waited maybe 30-40min in the car, for our turn. We met with Dr. Sekar. He said that she was very dehydrated & recommended she stay for 24hrs for treatment and observation. The team at Sunset is amazing! Dr. Sekar called me at 7AM to give me the first update (she was responding well!). They sent me a pic in the afternoon! :) She got the all clear for discharge, and rather than come back at 2AM, they recommended I come in at 7AM the next morning.

We went home with a host of meds and bland food. Dr. Sekar said she may not eat or drink immediately, but by the late afternoon she was already back to her old self! The bill was around $1400, and surprisingly the pet insurance covered 90% of it. #winning I'm sorry that others seem to have had poor experiences, but luckily Jazzy and I super grateful to everyone at Sunset!

On Wednesday May 26th, 2021 in the afternoon, I was playing with survivor. Survivor is a rescue beautiful boy kitten. I saw discharge from his eyes and he was a bit tired, and I noticed fleas on his body. I fed him, and gave him a shower then I noticed blood on his head. I managed to stop the blood but it was not his blood that was the fleas' blood.

I ran and took him to the emergency at Sunset animal hospital. They were suppose to perform a blood transfusion, but they never did and led my Survivor to die. This all happened because of arrogance, negligence, and inhuman of one of the doctors there by the name of John or Jonny a Korean guy and the assistant manger to not follow the recommendation of the first dr. for a blood transfusion, nor my request and insistence to perform the blood transfer. I hope no pet owner will experience one day what I'm going through.

We had to take my mom's dog (my brother dog) to the ER vet as he had congestive heart failure and took a turn for the worst. So, on Christmas night, after calling numerous ER vets, we chose Sunset. Andrea is the lady I first talked to and was such a sweetheart. We ended up having to put him to sleep. The entire staff was so very sweet, compassionate and accommodating and were very respectful and sympathetic during this extremely difficult time.

They took us right in due to our situation and allowed my parents to be with their baby during the visit and of course as they had to let him go. They even allowed me to go in there. The vet was a younger lady (I hate that I can't recall her name) who was an absolute sweetie!! She was very caring and empathetic. The pricing was very reasonable and they even waived the standard fee for evaluation. Thank y'all so very much for everything y'all did during this very difficult time.

You refused to put an animal down that was suffering. You guys took an oath when you became vets and techs to help all animals. How is letting one suffer because you don’t see exotics humane? You don’t have to be an exotic vet to perform euthanasia. I will never recommend you to anyone.

We brought in a tiny male tuxedo kitten on Tuesday around 9pm. We called upon arrival and they checked us in while we waited from our car. We only waited about 20min when the Vet Tech, Erica came to greet us and get a history. She took the poor little baby in and came right back to give us Dr. Pitts recommendation for a plan of care. I know this little kitty is receiving the best care possible and now has the greatest chance for survival.

I love this clinic/hospital and will continue to bring our furry babies/rescues to this place. So much thanks to Erica and Dr. Pitts!! Keep on being the loving and caring healers that you are. 💗

Sunset Animal Hospital is absolutely the right place for your pets!! I went there for an emergency and right away they took care of my furr boy Buddha. they made sure if felt comfortable and that my baby was in good hands. The staff was so amazing s/o to Elma!! She really made me felt like me and furr boy was family when we was there. I thought to myself I'm happy and this is going to be Buddha new home for everything he needs when it comes to his medical attention.

The one thing for sure Dr. Lobna Dagher is sharp Vet. she understood, new how to handle the situation and was very on point with her breakdowns. When she broke things down to me about my furr baby Buddha I was full of emotions. I was scared but she made sure she took that feeling from me so I wasn't scared anymore. She made me felt like our time was very valuable when it comes to our furr babies and that there was nothing to worry about because she will find the solution which she did!!

I thought I was loosing my boy but she turned it all around and now my boy is able to run around, hope on the bed and lick me. On and all I'm a happy furr mom! so blessed I found Sunset Animal Hospital because they really CARE!! Say for those of you who are looking for the right Vet for you pet I highly recommend SUNSET ANIMAL HOSPITAL. I PROMISE YOU THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF NOT JUST ONLY YOUR PET FAMILY BUT THEY WILL ALSO TAKE CARE OF YOU.

Just got home from my first time here and I am really happy with how it went. Dr. Cho really helped me out with my little injured stray dog that I’m helping. I couldn’t be more grateful. Totally recommend, can’t wait to bring Buddy back in so he can get fixed up
