Animal Care Hospital of Phoenix was founded in 1964 by Dr. John Matchette. The original hospital was located on Thomas Road, just a few blocks east of our present facility. We moved the practice to our current location just west of 32nd street in 1981.
Dr. Stephen Bishop joined the practice in 1973, Dr. Mark Halver in 1981, and Dr. Tara Temple in 2006. Dr. Bishop ran our outpatient practice (Animal Care Clinic) from 1977 until 1988. That practice was located in the Town and Country shopping center at 20th Street and Camelback.
We are proud to say we’ve been accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) for over 25 years. This means we are regularly, voluntarily evaluated on over 900 standards of care set forth by the AAHA and must meet stringent standards for comprehensive professional, medical, and surgical care. Only 14% of small animal hospitals in the country are members of the AAHA, so we’re proud of this distinction that sets us apart. Our continued membership in AAHA shows that we’re dedicated to providing excellent veterinary medicine to your pets.
We are dedicated professionals who combine compassion and concern with state-of-the-art practice techniques and diagnostics. We chose to be in this profession because we genuinely care for companion animals and their people, and our integrity is known throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area.

Ive taken both of my babies Bella and Smokey here, and they have been the greatest because they have taken really good care of em every time we take em, with so much love and caring! Also, i had an appointment for thursday the 16th of June but my little female dog got worse and I called to see if they could take her in today the 13th of June, and they went out of there way to take her in for an ear infection and we are very grateful for that!

I just called today and a voicemail about my dog panting excessively after giving birth. The hospital called me back and was so professional and acknowledging my concerns without saying so. I forgot her name but she gave me so much ease. The best part was that she went and asked the vet for their opinion right there instead of pushing for me to come in like the other animal hospital I called. "just come in and we will check on her and it's gonna be about $$$ amount." Uh, no thank you.
Another great thing is they are MUCH MORE AFFORDABLE! $65 for the visit and 20$ more another service for my dog. Beautiful! It's the little things that make a difference. You will definitely see me going to Animal Care Hospital from now on!

I am very grateful for their care. Super friendly, helpful, and I was able to stay in the room for my two cats checkups. I was given detailed feedback to my questions about pet ownership, and instructions and multiple suggestions on how I can improve their diet (one is quite a thicc boi). The price for both checkups today was still less than the price I paid at a large chain vet office for just ONE cat for more detailed care.
They asked questions to determine what treatment was needed most rather than pressure me into getting anything they could bill me for. My first visit here was the first vet visit my cats were less stressed on the way home than on the way there.

This was a difficult visit for me. In the near future my 14 years and 5 months baby cat Lucy Lou has to be put down. This staff is very compassionate and caring. I have three other babies being seen by Dr Temple this upcoming week. I don't foresee any problems there. Dr Temple has been taking great care of my babies for several years.

I am in the process of procuring an export certificate for my pet. I found Dr. Kelly to be a very intelligent and personable USDA certified Veterinarian. She has a very loving dispositon to pets and an affable presentation to the pet's owners. She allocated additional time during my office visit to answer my exporting questions. I would highly recommend Dr. Kelly to be considered for your pet's personal Physician.

First time here. With COVID restrictions still being adhered to, still wasn't bad. Phone check in. Attendants coming in and out with documents. My dog is a little to the aggressive side so his exam was done in. an outdoor fenced area. They brought both me and my dog water, even though it wasn't very hot. Exam and shots done easily. I was given really good advice on his care because he's another victim of the COVID.he's 10 pounds overweight. I'm very satisfied with my dogs care and would definitely recommend this Vet!

I'm just amazed every time with the staff at Animal Care Hospital of Phoenix and especially Dr Temple. They are always on point, caring and compassionate. My 75lb lap dog is high maintenance and I can always count on getting the best information that is evidence based, on-point and delivered with compassion. You need to bring your furbaby here.

Chose this place about 5+ years ago because of all the wonderful reviews. The staff here are professional and kind. I recently had an emergency with one of my pups and they were very accommodating. They managed to get her seen same day to ensure she was taken care of and pain free. They educate their clients on costs before moving forward with procedures and answer any questions you may have. Dr. Kelly has been the best! All of their vet techs are amazing as well.

My vet retired and I shopped around. During that period of time my dogs suffered from inadequate and careless veterinary care. I truly believe that I lost a couple of them sooner than I should have. I searched for a veterinarian that had a certification for treating small pets and found this office. I’ve had an opportunity to see all of the veterinarians in this office and highly recommend all of them The office staff is personable and professional. My dogs love them. So do I.
