Homeopathy is a system of medicine that was pioneered by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann in Europe in the 19th century. Based on the principle "Similimum similibus curantur" or "Like cures like, " homeopathic practitioners have found that substances that produce symptoms similar to the symptoms of disease can be used to cure that disease.

Members of the Academy are dedicated to understanding and preserving the principles of Classical Homeopathy.
The AVH presents these Standards of Practice for veterinary homeopathy as a means of summarizing the methodology of "classical" homeopathy, as developed by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, but for use in animals by veterinarians trained in homeopathy. The methods described are derived mostly from Dr. Hahnemann's seminal work, The Organon of the Medical Art, 6th edition.
This had been brought to the House of Delegates by the Connecticut State VMA without any discussion or input from the veterinary homeopathic community. The resolution was not passed but was referred to the Executive Council of the AVMA with the recommendation that it then be sent on to the Council on Veterinary Services (COVS) preparing to do their 5 year general review of all CAVM guidelines.
There are many reasons to become certified. First and foremost is that it is an incredible educational experience. You will be guided through the process by some of the finest veterinary homeopaths in the country. Once certified, you will have developed clearer homeopathic thinking and more accurate prescribing skills.
