Many of the serious diseases of dogs can be prevented by vaccination. With over 50 million pet dogs in the United States alone, your pet is bound to come in contact with an infectious disease at some time. Even if you always keep your pet indoors, your dog can be exposed to viruses carried in the air, in dust, or on clothing.
Heartworms (D. Immitis) are exactly what they sound like, worms that live in the heart. Males grow 4-6" in length and female heartworms grow 10-12" in length. Adult worms live and reproduce in the dog's heart circulating baby heartworms (microfilaria) through the bloodstream. Those baby heartworms take up to a year to mature into an adult, and at that time, start to reproduce more babies (microfilaria). A dog can have up to 250 worms living in their heart. Heartworms survive and reproduce for 5-7 years.
Value Vet uses a reference lab for our laboratory testing needs. This allows us to offer a wide range of tests which are performed in a state-of-the-art building by trained professionals. We recommend all patients have a full wellness exam annually to ensure a preventative health plan can be tailored to your pet's needs.

Super nice staff and great nurses and vets. Here's the problem(and the reason for 3 stars). They advertise and were rated as having good prices (shame on you Washington Consumer Checkbook), but in actuality are no cheaper than the competition. Too bad. Might as well stay local if the price isn't any better.

Horrible, absolutely horrible service. Cheap for visits but Veterinary Dr. Cook will not help your dog. I brought 2 of my dogs there and he neglected to take a look at my second dog which is my oldest. He rushed to look as if he was busy doing other things. He was supposed to feel my dogs leg to see where the problem is, but instead told me I needed 3 different x-rays.
Why would I need 3 different x-rays when he didnt even bother to try and see where the problem is. If he did I would only need one X-ray. Very rushed service. They will rob you for your money. So after the visit I felt the vet didnt do his job and tried to get help from the call center. After Calling 3 times, 2 different Haileys and an Andy hung up on me. Very poor customer service and a scam Vet office. I am speaking with an Attorney now to try and get help. Warning, stay away from this trash company!

I have been going to value vet for 5 yrs with 3 pets as with any vet, the more you pay the better service your dog gets but they are helpful and kind to the dogs however ordering meds is a nightmare i think that if mgmt would invest in better employees then they would have less problems and refunds Ms savage from mgmt is always very helpful with clearing up any issues

I brought my puppy here and she wasn't even 8 weeks yet, so obviously didn't have her shots yet. She was sick throwing up constantly, not eating at all, and diarrhea.being the professionals they didn't even test her for parvo first thing knowing thats the common cause. They sent her home and said maybe it'll get better. When i called back the next day because she still wasn't eating/drinking and was throwing up they literally just told me "well i dont know". ended up taking her to the ER and first thing they did was test for parvo after hearing the symptoms and long be hold she was positive. after thousands of dollars she survived! but no thanks to the idiots here who have no idea what they're doing. definitely do not recommend coming here.

Great service and care and they don't try to upcharge you for anything unnecessary. Extremely reasonable rates compared to other providers in the area. Especially appreciative of Dr. Lisa Puscheck for her patience, attention, and support during a recent visit and for her helpful follow-up afterwards. Thank you!

Terrible customer service, was told two different things from 2 different people. When I tried to call and get an RX filled it was phone tag for 2 phone calls then I called multiple times after to get it filled and she wouldn't returning any of my phone calls. Do not waste your time or money, they don't seem to care about clients.

Really like this vets office, to get a full blood panel on my senior cat who was at his end of life it was around $150 when his other vet had quoted me over $450. I continue to take my other 2 cats here especially if they need tests run because it's the same tests and a fraction of the price. the vets i have talked to have always been nice.

Third update. Please avoid all cost if you know your pet simply self inflected him/herself. I specifically told the vet what happened so I figured they would simply stitch up the small wound. Instead, they cut it even more open to see if there was any glass LOL after i told them that he got stung by a bee and messed with it! Please avoid at all cost.
I should have listened to my guy and my colleague who advised to let it heal on its own with proper over the counter treatments. Went to the nolensville location and the vet there told me he took off some of the stitches so it had room to heal. There was no way it would have held up with the stitches due to the amount of cutting that the other vet did. I'm seriously frustrated. My puppy now has a month plus to heal vs what could have been for him if I never took him in.

I have been taking my dogs to Value Vet for years. There are times when we have waited OVER AN HOUR for a scheduled appointment before even going back to a room. Every time we were told there were emergencies that came in. Which was fine. Until today. Our oldest dog has been struggling for a few months with arthritis. Something happened yesterday and she was definitely not herself.
I called first thing this morning and the receptionist said there were not any appointments available. I told her it was an emergency and was hoping they could squeeze her in. She said, in a robotic and scripted manner that, no, we would have to go to their clinic that was open to walk ins. Fine. I took her to that clinic that is much farther and called them to check in (covid style).
I was on hold for almost 15 minutes. When someone finally answered, she told me that they hadn't started seeing patients yet (even though it was 9:30 and they had opened at 9:00), and that there about 9 patients in front of me. She also advised that if was really bad, I might want to go to an emergency clinic. I was so disappointed. We have decided to take our dogs to another vet. Normally, I would just move on.
But I got call from the walk in clinic TWO HOURS after we had left saying they were ready to see my dog. I told him we had left and what happened. He replied, "Well ma'am, maybe you should try making an appointment instead of doing a walk in." Wouldn't that be amazing if our animals could "schedule" having an episode that required quick attention?

I am under quarantine for possible Coronavirus infection so I can't leave my house. I have a 3 year old male cat who is very healthy and never goes outside. I just noticed his tail has a spot of fur missing about 2 inches long and about 1/2 inch wide. Looks clean with no wounds or anything. He doesn't seem to be paying any special attention to it.
I was worried so I called Value vet to ask them about it. They refused to tell me anything with out seeing him in person. I explained that I would be happy to bring him in if I could but I am under quarantine and cant leave my house. I asked if I could send them a pic or video but the person wouldn't even consider it. She just keep saying what sounded like a canned response that "You will have to make an appointment and bring him in." Now I completely understand why most vets would say that so as to not give away free business over the phone and for liability reasons.
But this is not your normal situation. I cannot leave my house. They could at least be a little understanding of my situation and give me some kind of reassurance until I can bring him in. After all there can't be that many reasons for him to lose hair in that way on his tail. They have shown themselves to be inconsiderate to the point where they have permanently lost my business.

Terrible service. The professional overcut my dog's nail causing two nails bleeding. And they tried to hide instead of telling us the truth. Not only charged me an unreasonable amount but did a terrible job. They didn't even finish the nail trimming job. Will never go back there again and definitely not recommend it.

So thankful to have switched to Value Vet. Complete transparency about prices, happy to perform just the annual services I wanted (without pressuring me to add a dozen more I could not pay for), and even made everything super easy with Covid restrictions, etc. At our previous vet, we were always made to feel like terrible, cruel pet owners if we didn't do every single thing they said we needed to do.
The folks at Value Vet were incredibly kind, professional, and extremely good at what they do. They extracted a troublesome broken nail, gave our big guy pills to stop him from licking the spot raw (a very reasonably-priced medicine that my previous vet did not tell me about or offer me the last time we had a bad hot spot situation), did the annual exam and minimum necessary shots on my request, all for far less than I have gotten out a vet's door in years. Highest recommendation.

I had an appointment for the first time with my two cats at the Bellevue location, and was blown away by how wonderful and caring the staff is. They were thorough, efficient, answered my questions, and were so sweet to my very scared kitties. The facility is very clean, and they are so much more affordable than my previous vet. I am so glad to have found Value Vet!

I religiously bring my dog in every six weeks to the Bellevue location for a medical procedure she needs. The past two times I've brought my poor baby have been horrible and we will never go back! She has to have her anal glands expressed and the tech last time had never even done this before-and they decided my dog was the perfect one to practice on! (I was not informed until after the fact) This time was not any better. It took two techs and five times as long to preform and my poor dog screamed and her hind is red. I will be filling a formal complaint with headquarters and the BBB!

Love this team of people! I took my pup there to get her teeth cleaned, and they went above and beyond to make sure she felt comfortable. I dropped her off around 7:30am and was told she could be picked up between 3-5pm. I had a meeting pop up at work- called and asked if I could pick her up at 2pm instead. "Sure thing! Although she still may be groggy." When I got there, they had made a bed for her in the vets office with a blanket and a little heater.
Apparently there was a very loud dog in the kennels, and they wanted to make sure my pup could rest while coming out of anesthesia. I was so impressed at the level of dedication to their patients!

There are not many things I regret in life, but I do regret going to the Value Vet in Bellevue. Twice. Ugh. The first time, we went in for a standard check-up, and they told me that my dog most likely had a very deadly dog pneumonia, and the only way to solve this was to pay +$300 in testing. When the tests came back, they told us that she didn't have dog pneumonia.
The second time (i.e. one month later), I went in because I had to pull a tick out of her ear and noticed she was a bit sluggish and thought maybe she needed some medication. The vet told us that this time we needed to spend +$500 and recommended that we get pet insurance. This time, I refused to pay that much money, and the vet wouldn't let it go.
She even threatened that if I didn't pay for all of these "treatments" that our dog would have to be hospitalized. I only took the medication for the tick treatment, used it, and now, my dog is back to normal. Hmmm. The qualifications of these vets at Value Vet are questionable, and they are clearly out for your money. If you get the Asian woman who just moved here from California, RUN.
She will sit you in a room and harass you into paying more money for unnecessary treatments for your dog for an hour. It was a very intimidating experience that I never want to have again. You couldn't pay me to come back to this place.

Actually went in and got my appointment with Taylor this morning. He was super helpful. But when I went in this afternoon for my dogs appointment Shelby and dr Jenny were just incredible. Knowledgeable, helpful, and ultra patient with my German shepherd that thinks she owns everyone. They were incredible. Promote them all at Bellevue location! But if you do I'm going with!

I got a bad vibe the second I walked in and should've trusted my (and my dog's) instinct - he became a nervous wreck as soon as we got there, and he's the most calm, loving dog ever. There's no check in counter and when I walked in, a "nurse" was giving dogs shots right there in the waiting area, which I found strange, and rather than trying to calm the anxious dog, she was getting frustrated with him.
All the staff I interacted with seemed apathetic - both towards the animals and me as a customer. The vet didn't even say hello to me when she walked in the room (after a LONG wait). My poor dog was so nervous he had a couple accidents on the table and the staff/vet seemed annoyed and not at all understanding. They made me feel like a bother the whole time I was there. Needless to say, I will not be returning here or recommending Value Vet to anyone else.

I've visited this vet for one thing or another for all four of my animals over the past few years and have never had a bad experience. All of the technicians and veterinarians I've dealt with have been kind, sincere, helpful and prompt (if only we could say this about human doctors, amiright?). I'm grateful to have this place so close by. The Bellevue location stands out even above the other Value Vet locations in Nashville.
