Dr. Flora is amazing, very wonderful at making my kitty feel comfortable and giving me transparent information for her care which is so important as the lil gal is FIV+ and they're always more than happy to help trim her nails as she's a hisser with the towel method

We had been using this vet for 10 years since we moved to Portland with our dog and cat. We had really enjoyed the care from the vets and techs for many years but in recent years things have seemed to decline. Every single appointment ended up being with a different vet and there just wasn't the same level of care and thought - we felt rushed, like we weren't given enough information, and prices kept climbing.

Both our pets fell ill during Covid - our dog developed degenerative myelopathy and our cat suffered from an undiagnosed heart condition. Our cat started to have alarming symptoms at age 14 and we were suddenly starkly aware that he was a senior cat and could have something serious. He had been so healthy until that point. I'm not going to bash there's guys for COVID protocols - I completely understand the need and know they were doing their best.

However - the inconsistent game of different vets looking at our cat and telling us their input based on his labs wanna symptoms was not comforting or giving us any confidence. We actually had a cheaper visit taking him to Dove Lewis than an emergency vet visit and I felt like we got much better information from the hospital. We brought him to Powell for bloodwork at one point and suffered to wait in the car, only to be told ultimately they couldn't get a sample and asked us to come back the next day!

In the morning the tech had no trouble and said they just did a good towel wrap. Why was that not possible the first time? We never got the answers we needed because we weren't willing to pay several thousands on expensive scans that would likely not make his condition any more treatable. I'm shocked that when we first noticed mobility issues in our dog, the vet didn't even bring up the possibility despite being a breed that commonly develops DM.

We ended up learning about it and diagnosing it ourselves as things rapidly got worse. I just get the distinct impression this vet has fallen prey to a corporate management situation where the main priority is making money, not care or customer service. It was concerning when vets kept leaving the office - especially the ones we really trusted and liked the most.

I know this is not an easy profession and for the most part I feel that the support staff have been great. Some vets have been more professional and caring than others. But we really felt stuck with no other choice due to staffing issues at vets all over. It just feels like there's some major operational issues and we couldn't give them our money any longer.

We had our pets put to sleep in our home through a hired service last summer, one month apart. We have since adopted a new dog and have taken our business elsewhere and are much happier.

Unfortunately, we had to put our 11+ year old bully, Frankenstein, down earlier this month. But I can say that Powell Vet's care for him the last 5 years (since we moved up to Portland) was second to none. Not only did they give 110% effort in trying to figure out what was wrong with him when he got really sick, but you could tell that they really cared about him.

We found comfort knowing that they were trying everything they could to help. Throughout the last 5 years, the doctors and staff were always giving their full attention to Frankenstein's needs. We knew he was always in good hands when we brought him in. Thank you to everyone at Powell Vet for all that they did for our bully.

I have nothing but great things to say about Powell Vet! I have a cat who had a mysterious illness and the staff at Powell vet (especially Dr. Amy Horling) was so helpful! I also have a dog who recently had x-rays and was very stressed and the staff put him so at ease he fell asleep! These people really care about your pets and are very nice :)

I have taken my baby kitty here since he was a wee little guy. He's always had the upmost care and Quality of care when he goes in. This team is worth checking out. Staff is always nice and accommodating to me and my fur baby. The price is always fair considering the care of my pet is priceless. Definitely recommend. He had his last appointment with Dr. Martin and when I got a call I quickly loved how he told me off bat my kitty was a little nervous which is to be expected but when we got home he seemed good. I plan on moving to Washington county and out of Portland but will continue to bring my pet here.

We love Powell Vet so much and recommend them to everyone. We've been taking our rescue dog there for 3 years and have had wonderful experiences every time, and our dog has chronic health problems so we're there a lot. Everyone at the front desk is a rock star and clearly loves working with animals. All of the vets are great, and always give clear explanations of what they are doing and what treatments they recommend.

They also are very clear about costs, and when available they explain how we can try less expensive treatments first or how urgent a more expensive treatment is so if we need to save up money we know how long we have. They even helped hold off on an exploratory X-ray (possible luxating patella) until our dog needed to be sedated for a different issue so we wouldn't have to pay for anesthesia twice.

I rarely write reviews at all, but when I saw some 1 star reviews complaining about the cost I had to write one here. Vets cost money, sometimes a lot-that's not specific to here. No matter how much anyone loves animals, they are running a business with employees and expenses-they can't just give services away for free. **No one is getting rich being a vet!** Given the reality of the world, they do their best and they really try to work with you on cost. Everyone there is so caring and will take excellent care of your furry family members.

First impression went well, but overtime we noticed the clinic was lacking communication, attention to detail and proper care for our loved one. Our vet was amazing after the first visit, so we went on the puppy plan immediately. Getting on the puppy plan was a headache as the staff was not sure how to proceed with the curbside pickup during the Oregon state stay-at-home order.

We were told different processes and prices until we finally reached an office manager to set us up. Continuing our care we no longer met with the wonderful vet, but technicians and office managers that did not seem very caring for our situations as puppy owners during this time. We tried to understand that the climate spring 2020 is difficult to navigate as a business, but it seemed they were not engaged with our family and only caused difficulties along the way.

We were not provided a vaccination plan or a way to track our wellness progress, so left it up to the clinic. Things were consistently missed (nail trimmings, we had to request a vaccination that was not discussed or offered over 2 months of being with the clinic). There seems to be so much oversight and we really had to fight for care. We would call with an issue and be rushed off the phone or told to just come in (but we only get so many "free" visits for the year!) We ended up "paying out" our puppy plan contract as they require the full year.

We did state that we were frustrated with our pups health care, so I do not think the office manager will be surprised by this review when she responds. I am sorry, but we would not recommend this clinic. Please note: We never met anyone in person as we adopted during the Covid19 pandemic. We would like to think things would be different if we were able to meet with the staff in person.

I caution parents to consider this before going on a set plan, so you do not have to buy out of the one year contact. Our next clinic, we made sure to speak with as many employees and got to know their vibe/style of care. not just relying on one phone conversation.

My dogs love visiting the vet! Every doctor here has been fantastic and their staff is knowledgeable and courteous. They worked around the clock to save my puppy when she had parvo and she is now almost 5 years old and healthy. They are compassionate and caring and have very convenient hours. Prices might be a bit higher than some offices--but in my opinion, you get what you pay for. I will never switch vets as long as I live in Portland

I would give 10 Stars if Possible! The staff, the doctors are all so caring and professional. They treated my boy, Roscoe, with care, love and respect. They are devoted to helping our furry family and I cannot recommend them enough. I lost my sweet baby to health issues beyond anyone's control and the honest sympathy and care I received from all is beyond words. I highly recommend them!
