Services
Routine Procedures - spay and neuter, cyst and growth excisions, hernia repairs, laceration repairs, foreign body removals, abdominal surgery and other procedures. Dogs and Cats - No food or water should be ingested after 10:00 PM on the night prior to, or the morning of surgery. PRE-ANESTHESIA TESTING - On the morning of scheduled surgery, we will perform a physical examination to determine your pet's overall wellness. Certain problems cannot be identified during a physical examination. We offer pre-anesthesia bloodwork testing which includes a chemistry profile.
ANNUAL EXAMINATIONS - Examinations are very important in keeping your dog healthy. After the initial examination, most dogs should have an annual physical examination. Senior dogs, and those with a chronic medical condition, may require more frequent examinations. Dr. Sager will devise a plan to meet the individual needs of your dog.
INITIAL EXAMINATION - We recommend an initial examination within 48 hours of the acquisition of your cat. During this first visit, a thorough physical examination will be performed. You will receive information on routine care, diet, household hazards, flea and tick products, heartworm preventative, caging, detecting medical problems, and any conditions which may be associated with the breed of your cat. Laboratory testing will likely be advised. ANNUAL EXAMINATIONS - Examinations are very important in keeping your cat healthy.
TRANSPORT - To prevent an escape or distraction while you are driving, please transport your bird in a cage or carrier. If the bird's cage is small enough to transport, we recommend that you bring it. The cage and accessories can be examined for problems, safety, and signs of illness. A sheet or blanket placed over the bird's cage may help to reduce travel-related stress.

They were a lot cheaper and a lot better service then anywhere else I went. I Went to one vet and they made me wait about 5 hours and wanted 400$ and had no information on the problem they said I needed another 1000$ to run test but weren't sure if they'd tell me the problem went here and for 200$ did what the other vet wanted 1500$ for. Sager was way more helpful and showed they cared for my dog.

Doctor Sager and the whole team at Sager Animal Hospital are incredible. They always make sure to give you a quick call back when you have questions. They are patient and kind and I feel confident my pets are in good hands. With my older dog who is presently ill, Doctor Sager and the team have been so wonderful - they have answered all my questions and are incredibly compassionate. He has been the vet my family has gone to for almost 20 years.

It's a shame Dr. Sager has such an unpleasant wife, because I really like him. Unfortunately, because she has repeatedly made going there unbearable, I was forced to go elsewhere. Pauline resents customers that have gone elsewhere.heard of second opinions? Gave me the choice after being a 13 year customer to leave a credit card number on file or go elsewhere!
Just saw Dr. Sager yesterday that went as well as always when Pauline is out. She blamed Dr. Sager for making an appointment without paying first! She needs a personality transplant. Reminds me of the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld.

Dr Sager is amazing and he takes amazing care of my rabbit Cashew. I found out about him through a referral and I am so happy I did. I drive from Arlington to bring my bunny, and it is worth the ride. Dr Sager is the person you want to bring your pets to for care. It is hard to find someone that specializes in rabbits. I am so grateful that I found him.

I can't say enough good things about Dr Sarge and his staff. This place took great care of me, and most importantly my little man. I felt Tyson received lots of love in their care. I highly recommend Sager Animal Hospital not only for the friendly service but also the positive energy and atitude of everyone. Thank you so much for the great experience.

We've been taking our animals to Dr Sager for nearly ten years. Many of our friends and family have switched over to his practice! Dr Sager is very reasonable in his approach and treatment plans with animals. He listens to pet owners and is very knowledgeable. I like his direct approach and I never feel as though we are pursuing unnecessary treatment or testing. We get great care here and would HIGHLY recommend the practice!

Our dogs have been seeing Dr. Sager and his staff for seven years now. Dr. Sager has provided the perfect mix of compassionate care along with precise medical advice, all with any eye on keeping costs under control. He doesn't suggest unnecessary procedures, medications, or foods and is able to fully explain why he does or doesn't recommend something. He has provided extremely useful tips that have kept our pets healthy and made our caretaking responsibilities easier and less costly.

Dr. Sager & staff are excellent. I've been taking my rats and gerbil here. He is very knowledgeable, patient, and truly loves his animal patients. Another vet told me to put my rat to sleep. Thank goodness I went to Dr. Sager for second opinion. He saves my rat from being put to sleep for no good reason. My rat is doing MUCH better and well now. Thank you Dr. Sager! We greatly appreciate all you do for our pets!

Like the other reviewers said, Dr. Sager has the best interest of your pet when it comes to treatment. He saved my rat from being put to sleep by another vet for no good reason. I'm so glad that I did not follow the other vet's recommendation, but instead I brought the rat to Dr. Sager the next day. Dr. Sager gave us some medicine and explained the cause of the abscess.
The rat is now well and happy. His expertise and knowledge on dogs, cats, small mammals, birds, etc are tremendous and hard to come by. His advice and diagnosis make a lot of sense. He won't talk you into getting unnecessary tests, surgery, or treatment. I highly recommend Dr. Sager to any pet owner.

Literally just met Dr. Sager a half hour ago, at an appointment for our cats' annual shots. The moment I walked in, I could tell Dr. Sager was an animal person! He was very responsive to my warnings about the one who *really* misbehaves at the vet, and we got through both exams with no bloodshed. I call that a win, and would highly recommend. My only regret is that we're moving to the other side of the city again so it will be difficult to come back. Seriously excellent first impression though.

With a heavy heart I have to write this review. My Guinea pig went here for surgery in November for an abscess. When I picked him up in the afternoon after his surgery, Dr. Sager never explained or followed up what he had done that day so I assumed everything was fine. I followed up on all the medications per doctor's orders. Shortly about a week after, he passed away. I never had closure or knew the reason why. I'm still bitter about it until this day. If you care about your pet, I would suggest going somewhere else.

I've been coming here for the past few years for my cat. Dr. Sager has always done a great job. His prices are reasonable. They also squeezed me in this past Friday at the lsat minute for an issue my cat was having. I was happy that she didn't have to wait through the weekend for treatment because she was clearly uncomfortable. She's now home resting. We've had a great experience every visit.

Dr. Sager- if it wasn't for you- my little ratty would have been long gone. He literally brought her back form the dead. Oh the tears of joy on my part! Note to all of you readers- if you want a vet who treats your pet like YOU would treat your pet- there is NO OTHER VET other than Dr. Sager. The fact that this animal hospital is 40 minutes from where i live is NOTHING compared to the care that he would give to your critter. Small or big. Thank you, doc! P.S. He saved my co-workers cat as well ( this is how i found out about this wonderful place).

I have been bringing my parrots to Dr. Sager for over 10 yrs now. I have one parrot who is particularly difficult to handle. Dr. Sager is able to "towel" him brilliantly! He is compassionate and extremely knowledgable (not all vets know as much about exotics). I always recommend him to fellow bird owners.

I've been more than pleased with the care my cat has received at Sager Animal Hospital. Recently my cat became acutely ill and was near death and I didn't think she was going to make it, but Dr. Sager treated her and she is now back to her normal, happy, lazy self and I am thrilled. He has been "doing this forever" and is the most reasonably priced vet I've ever dealt with. He has a very skilled and caring manner with animals. Everyone at the office is nice. Highly recommend!

We had a great experience at Dr. Sager's today, taking Charlie in for a (same day!) appointment to check out his sudden itchy rash issue. The office is very calm and welcoming. Its helpful that Dr. Sager is the only vet, as there is no group of scared animals waiting to go in. Our last vet always added extra levels of anxiousness to Charlie's experience due to the waiting room environment - which was much like sitting in a hospital as a person. Yikes. Dr. Sager was great with Charlie and very informative for the people.
We learned a lot and he was happy to answer any/all questions. We did not feel rushed, either. The price was very cheap as well, which was a great surprise. Charlie wasn't even very upset about being there - shot in his butt and all.

Dr. Sager saved our hedgehog! Not only that, but he has a wonderful demeanor and very laid back office. Very welcoming, professional, and down-to-earth. If you have an "exotic" pet and live in the area, I can't imagine a better vet. No other vets can handle our hedgehog like he can. She will not ball up for him. She lets him squeeze, poke, prod. whatever he needs to do. Most other vets don't know about hedgehogs, but he does. He knows about her diet and helped her overcome a very serious bladder infection.
