Services
The majority of care we provide is on the farm where the horse is stabled. In addition to providing routine care, our veterinarians make a special effort to develop a unique preventative care program for each farm. Many factors influence what may be a proper program for your farm including the number of horses, travel, competition, housing, reproductive status and age.
Chiropractic and acupuncture can be complementary to a variety of treatment regimens. Some situations that may benefit from these therapies are often considered behavioral problems, such as saddling issues, bucking, rearing and poor performance. But in reality, there is usually an underlying painful condition that is causing the horse to react badly.
Endoscopy is the visual examination of interior structures of the body using an endoscope. In the equine, endoscopy is most commonly employed for evaluation of the Upper Airway. However, the endoscope is versatile and can examine other structures such as the stomach, urinary bladder and reproductive tracts.

As I know due to personal experience, from diagnosing mystery lameness to performing orthopedic surgery, UEA has not only the expertise, and state-of-the art equipment, but the personal investment in you and your horse. This is a practice where the entire staff goes above and beyond to make the difference in achieving a successful outcome. Every Vet that I've ever used at Unionville has been nothing short of Amazing. All of the vets that I've ever had come to look at or treat my horses has had extensive knowledge and great treatment strategies. My horse was seen by Dr. Foster in November for a lameness evaluation at UEA. She was kind, direct and efficient in her ability to evaluate and diagnose my horse's issue. She presented all of the options for care and helped me feel confident in my decision for his treatment. Their facility is beautiful, clean and state of the art. My horse felt very comfortable and relaxed in the hands of their skilled Assistants and Technicians.
I also appreciated being involved in his appointment start to finish even during COVID times. Everyone I've ever spoken with at UEA has been kind and professional. I highly recommend Dr. Foster and UEA for your equine veterinary needs.

I recently purchased a horse in PA, that required surgery. I am out of state and Unionville Equines was amazing to work with - the office staff was incredibly kind, helpful, accommodating, and absolutely stellar. Their patience with me and the situation was so very appreciated, and I have never received better customer service anywhere - I definitely received the white glove service, and it was obvious they love what they do, are extremely competent and really care about the horses they are caring for.
A HUGE thank you to Sarah and Krissy, who went above and beyond to help me and Max (and for taking the time to answer my questions and provide reassurance), and a HUGE thank you to Dr. Schaefer who preformed the surgery, Dr. Acland, the entire veterinary staff, and everyone else at this clinic. I recently used Unionville for a pre-purchase exam at the seller's recommendation & I couldn't be happier with the service. Quick & easy to make arrangements, everyone I dealt with was courteous & helpful, communication was great, and prices were reasonable for what was provided. Dr Donaldson was awesome to work with - I felt like he did a thorough vetting & explained everything that was going on, what he saw & what it meant. Would definitely use Unionville again.
