In 1927 Dr. Walter E Brandner moved to Petaluma after graduating from Cornell Veterinary School and opened an animal hospital at the corner of Fourth and B Streets in the Rex Hardware building, also taking over the directorship of the Petaluma Laboratories which had been established in 1923. In 1931 the Petaluma Laboratories moved away from town and the new Brandner Laboratory and Hospital were started, still in the same location.

Central Animal Hospital is one of the best vet experiences I have ever had. Every single person working there is so kind and helpful and truly cares for the animals. I am so grateful I found them. My kitty who is scared of everyone even likes them there. They always answer the phones and you never have to wait very long at all. They even call to follow up and see how your pet is doing after. Highly recommend.

We've been clients at Central Animal Hospital for ten years. We have always been greeted warmly by the staff, have had knowledgeable and thorough care and have never felt rushed out of the office. Dr. Matt Carter is the best. He is experienced and reasonable and has made cost saving recommendations on necessary tests. He has also made excellent suggestions for care when we needed specialty services.
We moved from Petaluma years ago and traveling to Central Animal Hospital is now at least an hour. But after ten years and consistently good care, we don't mind the drive. We count ourselves fortunate to have such a great vet and can't imagine going anywhere else. Sincerely, Donna and Don Forst

This is definitely one of the best veterinary clinics I've taken my dog to! They always answer the phone and medication refills are super fast and easy. Dr. Alman and Dr. Atkin are both incredibly invested in my senior dog's increasingly complicated health issues. I appreciate that if they aren't 100% certain on something, they consult specialists to ensure that my dog gets the best, well-researched diagnosis and treatment.
They don't push unnecessary tests or treatments. And the DVMs will communicate with me directly by email! SO convenient. They respond quickly and sometimes at 8pm on a Friday night, so you know they're working overtime for their patients. Recently, when my dog's brain was inflamed because of GME and we couldn't get a neurologist appointment for an MRI, Dr. Alman worked her magic to get him on a waitlist to be seen sooner. He may not have made it if we had to wait. So, for that alone I am extremely grateful he is their patient!

Great vet! Ive brought both of my senior dogs here and the doctors and staff have been wonderful with them. My dogs actually like going here! We've gotten in quickly and the staff takes the time to listen to my concerns. They also thoroughly explain procedures and prices before doing anything. Highly recommend!

We have been bringing both our cat and dog here for the past 2 years. The vets, technicians, and front desk staff are knowledgeable, organized, compassionate and truly care about our pets. The online pet store is easy and helpful when renewing medication. When we call with concerns regarding our pets, staff are able to answer all of our questions clearly and in a timely manner. We love Central Animal Hospital and would highly recommend them to anyone!
