I cannot say enough good things about my experience at Village Vet! Dr. Matthews and the entire staff are caring, professional and experienced. I would highly recommend Village Vet to anyone looking for a vet that is exceptional! My dog has been coming here for several years now and gets the best care. I wouldn't go any place else. The staff as well as the doctors are always available if anything is wrong with him and I sincerely appreciate that. I truly believe he would not be here right now if not for Village Vet.

After being traumatized by our last visit to our previous vet office of 8 years, this office was kind, compassionate, and empathetic, from my first phone call to schedule the appointment, to checking out. First of all, it felt good to have my feelings validated, as we had loved our previous vet office and I had a hard time believing they had performed unnecessary medical treatment against my consent.
I felt a little crazy for wanting to switch vets. (I still do. I was recommending that office left and right, anytime someone asked and sometimes even without them asking.) Dr. Matthews and her staff were excellent and I love her conservative approach to medicine. The integrative style really attracted me to the practice and I was happy to see it play out.
My agoraphobic cats were a little out of their element, but the one was even walking all over the appointment room floor, after her exam! I highly recommend this place, especially for anyone who feels a bit jaded by the traditional medicine route and wants something more for their animals.

BEST VET IN WORLD! I have been going to village vet ever since I moved to York Maine back in 2014. I own a German Shepherd and is a very hyper active anxious dog. As we all know going to the vet is very stressful for animals however York Village vet is the best place to go. Place makes it easy on the animals and easy on you. I technically live in Boston now and travel an hour and a half just to come to this place.
I have never experienced a problem and they always give me the best treatment for my dog, also at a very very reasonable price. I've never experienced an overcharged and I've never experience a bad situation. I will always be loyal to this vet because of their passion, care, and going beyond the average to take care of my pup. Special thank you to Dr. Matthews, and Dr. Josh. Amazing doctors, always leading with a happy healthy dog at the end of the day. Thank you so much for all your work.

To fulfill my breeder's contract, I had to get my puppy checked out within three days of being picked up. I called EVERYWHERE: My own vet, Portland, Westbrook, Scarborough, Buxton, Brunswick, Bath, Falmouth, Freeport, Saco, no dice. These sweet people fit me in their schedule. To top it off, my GPS kinda blew it, so I ended up being 20 minutes late and they still fit me in!
They were professional, warm, patient. I would HIGHLY recommend them. If they weren't almost an hour away, I'd switch! Do not hesitate to take your pet there. She/he will be in excellent hands.

We are newer clients of Dr Matthew's & staff. We cannot thank them enough after helping to turn our sick dogs health around. THEY LISTEN! DR Matthew's came highly recommended by a friend and so grateful. she diagnosed in two days what our other vet couldn't figure out in 6 months. Our pup is now vibrant, happy & healthy. we are still working through his issues but at least there has been a dramatic improvement in health & we have faith/ hope in the guidance, knowledge, experience & professionalism of this wonderful vet & staff!

Dr Matthews and her wonderful staff really helped me out today. We are vacationing in York and I realized I had left my dog's tick and heart worm medication at home and he was due to take them. I reached out to Village Veterinary and they could not have been more helpful! They contacted my home vet and got faxed to them a dose of each med. I can't thank you all enough! The tick situation here, and everywhere, is awful. Now I can have peace of mind that my golden buddy is protected. Thank you!

Dr. Matthews is incredibly knowledgeable and responsive. She is proactive in her approach, putting your pet's wellbeing above all. She has been very accurate in diagnosing my pets' illnesses, has performed surgery on my dog when needed, and saved my cat's life twice now from urinary blockages. She has been there when my pets needed her and has kept my family of pets healthy and happy. Would highly recommend!

Awesome vet clinic. I have three very active pets, 2 older cats and a large dog. Dr. Matthews and team are doing a terrific job keeping my fur babies healthy and happy. I've heard nothing but great things about this clinic and I was not disappointed. I highly recommend Village Veterinary. Thanks Dr. Matthews!

The girls in the office were beyond pleasant and did everything to make our visit comfortable. Our beloved kitty, Katrina, was handled with special care throughout. The dr was straight, but gentle, about Katrina's diagnosis. She answered all the questions we had and listened patiently while we bragged about sweet Katrina, named after the Hurricane. We left feeling much more confident about what to expect in the coming weeks. The office even followed up with us a few days afterwards.

I was so pleased with Village Veterinary, I am summering in York and my dog was not feeling well. I called and even though it was the doctor's surgery day they fit him in. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful, the office was extremely clean. We were even greeted by a beautiful greyhound. I hope that I don't have to use them again but I will definitely if the need arises.

Dr. Julie and her staff really care about all the animals they treat. My Dog Sebastian has cancer as well as other concerns, we treat him holistically, and I really appreciate all the care they provide him. He is not an easy boy to deal with, they know how to address all his quirks. They provide top-notch care and treat everyone with utmost respect.
I would not hesitate to recommend friend and family, actually I already have recommended them to several friends. My friends have shared with me how they too have had great experiences with Dr. Julie. If you love your pet as much as I love mine, you'd want the best care for your family member. Dr. Julie and her staff is the place where I would want to be.

Provides great care for your pet. I don't think there isn't anything they can't do for your pet. They are also the only vet in the entire area that can provide Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation (VOM). It's a form of chiropractic work for animals. I thought they were nuts for suggesting it, but it's the only thing that has helped my dog with her back issues.
She does not take any pain meds and is like a puppy as long as she has VOM every month. It's truly a life/pain saver. My dog is living proof that this practice works. This practice is so rare that even a veterinary hospital in another state who specializes in rehabilitation does not perform this procedure (which is mind boggling). My other dog could not stomach pain meds and antibiotics after a surgery.
We tried homeopathics and that's what helped her with her pain. They definitely know what they're doing when it comes to medical care for animals. We've been going there for 12 years and counting.

If I could give Dr. Matthews and her staff 10 stars I would. We have been using Village Veterinary for the past eight years and can't say enough about the care and treatment that has been given our dogs and cat. Dr. Matthews is extraordinarily thorough, competent, caring and professional. She listens, explains and cares. Her staff of young women are caring, professional and competent, friendly and helpful as well.
Recently she discovered a tumor in our 12 year-old dog during a routine examination. Nothing showed up on the X-rays but she continued to closely monitor it with an ultra sound follow-up. The ultra sound showed a large tumor on her liver. She was operated on immediately in what was a complicated and risky surgery. We can't say enough about the care and attention and skill and knowledge shown during surgery that was given to our dog as well as amazing post op care.
The outcome of the surgery was astonishingly wonderful due to Dr. Matthews great ability in operating and after care. She believes in using natural products, laser treatments and acupuncture. Since coming to Village Veterinary we have lost a dog and cat. The compassion shown us at this time was so comforting as it was done in such a loving, caring and appropriate manner. We can't recommend village veterinary enough. It is keeping us from leaving the area!
