I brought my puppy in for his 1st vet visit, and though he was shaking like a leaf, the staff was very gentle and caring with him.

I just moved to this area from out of state. My two detections dogs need care and are on specialized diets. This hospital has been amazing at helping myself and fiance with two surgeries for our dogs in just one week. They took such great care and attention. You can tell they really love the animals they take care of here.

TLDR: Highly recommend anyone looking for veterinarian care for felines to Ashworth Animal Hospital. I haven't used them for canine care. Have been using Ashworth for a couple years now and recently brought home a new cat. New kitty had no medical history so took her in for check up, shots, and chipping. We only had River for a few days at this point and didn't notice anything unusual in her behavior. Dr. Niemand was in the room and pretty quickly asked if we had noticed any excess ear itching which we had but didn't think it was over the top.

She was about to notice the new kitty's body language that fast and found she had ear mites. Got her treated and we were in and out within an hour. Took our older cat Simon in a couple weeks later as a precaution due to unusual behavior. They kept him for a few hours to collect a "sample" which tested fine. Dr. Niemand gave me a call personally to let me know everything tested good but, then answered all my questions on different products and gave great tips for "life enrichment" for the cats.

All the staff were friendly and generally wonderful. My only wish is that my PCP was as personable, informative, and caring with humans as the staff and Doctors at Ashworth Animal Hospital are with animals.

Excellent location. Wonderful staff. Knowledgeable and Caring Veterinarians. I only wish they had some sort of plan that would help cover the annual shots and worming for pets.

Great place. We recently moved to the area and brought our Aussie here based on reviews. The staff was very patient and understanding of our dogs needs. Dr. Katie Wiedmann is helping us with our dog's diet plan through email which is very appreciated since we all have busy lives. Highly recommend!

The staff at Ashworth Road Animal Hospital were very friendly, welcoming and informative! This was my puppy Hank's first vet visit and the staff made it a great experience for him from start to finish. We're looking forward to his upcoming 12- and 16-week appointments.

I literally cannot say enough positive things about these gals. We just moved here from out of state and wanted to establish care for our dear Border Collie, Pearl. After reading all the amazing reviews, we opted for Ashworth Rd Animal Hospital noting that they had a lot of speciality services for senior dogs. Our sweet pup ended up having a distended abdomen and needed seen and was ultimately found to have metastatic cancer and we made the painful decision to put her to sleep.

The staff here were supportive every step of the way and were so accommodating. We utilized their suggested vendor for cremation and had Pearl's ashes back within a week along with her bed and teddy bear (which they had even washed), in addition to a really sweet note from Dr. Niemand and staff. Kathleen at the front desk was also very kind throughout the entire process.

Everyone dreads the day they say goodbye to their best friend, but if they can approach that day with a supportive and professional team it makes the experience more bearable. We will definitely return for services once we feel ready to have another sweet furry friend.

Started taking my two puppers here. They have been good to them and nice toy wallet. They are receiving amazing care and recommendations for their health and well being.

I've been taking my dogs to Ashworth Road Animal Hospital for over 30 years. My puppy was recently spayed plus had another surgery and Dr. Merk was especially conscientious to make sure all went well. I noticed some swelling a couple days later and called the office. They got us in immediately and made sure she was doing ok. All of the staff are friendly and professional and they care about your pet. I highly recommend them!

They do a fantastic job. I have had my cats in for about 3 years plus now since moving back to West Des Moines and I won't go anywhere else. Dr Niemand is very patient with my one cat Boots, even with his attitude she was also the most comforting when I had to put down my other cat. My concerns are always addressed promptly.

We waited in the examination room quite a while before seeing the Vet. Other than that it was very good experience. Everyone was nice and helpful. I feel confident that this is our Vet service going forward!

Dr. Sara Niemand has always made a special effort to care for Rocco, our Bichon Frise, keeping in mind his personality and behavior. She always takes the time to explain us his health issues. She is truly a professional and passionate about her job. The staff is very kind and friendly. The office is super clean and the waiting room has never overcrowded when we were there. We highly recommend Ashworth Road Animal Hospital for its professionalism, efficiency, and appointment flow.

Our guinea pig had a bad scratch on his eye and they managed to squeeze us in and assess the problem quickly. When we came in to have drainage checked after his eye was removed the vet handled home with such care you could tell that they really care about your pet as much as if they were a member of their family. They are friendly and understanding. Love this place!

Ive left 2 reviews in my life but this is so ridiculous im going to post this in hopes it helps someone not make the mistake i did. Taking my dog here for 3 years since his birth. On multiple occasions I've tried to make appointments and they are always booked out like a month. The dog accidentally ate a piece of a toy and needed surgery. They said not only are they to busy but they don't feel comfortable doing that surgery anyway and take him someplace else.

They said on multiple occasions they do it all or I would have found another vet anyway. Most vets even if they are booked will try to squeeze in there own clients for emergencies but because he has only ever been to Ashworth thats not an option.

New location open house. We've taken our pet there for years. Professional, trustworthy and friendly. State of the art technology for any situation.

Their staff messes up continuously and it's inexcusable when caring for dogs. They add notes into the dogs patients history file that are retaliatory and unprofessional. We chose to discontinue services and they chose to add a degrading note into our dogs file before sending to our new vet.

We are so glad the local animal shelter recommended AAH. Absolutely love the way the vets take time to listen and answer all the questions/ concerns. Would definitely recommend this to friends. Our pet is in great hands!

We started taking our animals to Ashworth Road Animal Hospital in 2006. We know we can trust our cats and dogs will receive the best care possible when we bring them here. No matter who we talk to, the doctors and staff are always friendly, informative, comprehensive, and compassionate. You can tell they truly care deeply about animals from the way they handle them, talk to them, and the time they take with us as owners to make sure we understand what is going on or what needs done for the further care of our pets. Their knowledge is exceptional and we especially appreciate their designation as a cat-friendly practice. I also love that it's a one-stop-shop for any of our pets' needs.

Being a first timer to a vet with my puppy, I was very nervous and didn't know what to expect. I can easily say I am beyond impressed with the professionalism, efficiency and flow of the appointment. The employees were very personable! Dr. Ribbey answered all of my questions in the most respectful and educational way! I would highly recommend Ashworth Road Animal Hospital for your pet!

Stop discrimination against their clients. They make poor decisions based on false information that they know nothing about. I asked to have their doctor return my call have waited several days. They are not a professional organization.

The compassion for the animals.they care nearly as much as the pet family does

Worst vet around! Don't take your animals to have surgery there they will leave out information that can be serious post operation then when confronted they lie and write on paper work that they did. Then argue with you when all you want is the best for your animal then say you can't come back!

Thank you to loving rest pet cemetery, they took great care of both of my babies at the end and I appreciate that. Emergency vets on 63rd, at 3 a.m. and you know there's nothing else you can do, and you know it's time, they were loving for Kibber and me, thank you. Ashworth animal hospital you weren't Annie's normal Vet but I knew I had to stop the pain, and stop it now, you were gracious enough to give me an immediately appointment. Thank you.

Sasha, our 8 week old Samoyed had her first appointment today with Dr. Kobberdahl today. She made us both feel very welcome and comfortable. We had an 8:30 am appointment and had a very short wait. I was concerned Sasha's anxiety, as she's only on day 2 from the breeder, could be an issue, but that quickly melted away and she felt relaxed both in the waiting room and in the exam room. We have our next two visits on the books.

I cannot say enough great things about this place! My pug Major Butters has been going there for over 2 years. He just had surgery today for cyst removal & I cannot thank them enough! Definitely a place you can trust to care for your pet!

Dr. Merck and the staff are the greatest! I've been coming here for 18 years and will continue to use them for my cats. It's a 50 mile round trip with cats that do not like cars, but so worth the quality care they receive!

I have been taking my pets to Dr. Merk since moving to WDM in 2010. She is an excellent veterinarian, she really takes the time to listen and ensure no questions are unanswered and she is truly compassionate. I love the rest of the staff too, the front desk associates and vet techs are always very friendly and helpful.

Best care! The staff truly cares about the animals and will do whatever it takes to make them well. I can't recommend enough!
