Occasionally, animals may require life saving blood transfusions from either a fresh blood product or frozen plasma. The AEC, as a central facility to many referring area clinics, houses a small blood bank for just this purpose. Currently, staff pets have provided a small pool of donators but the AEC is still in need of more.
This is the story of The Curious Case of Bandits Apple Core. Bandit arrived to the Animal Emergency Center after eating an apple core. His pet parents were not sure if he had chewed the core or perhaps swallowed the entire thing whole. Bandit had been vomiting and his pet parents thought he had better get an exam.
Pepper is a 9 year old Lab. She began vomiting and not eating so her owners took her to her regular veterinarian. They prescribed antibiotics but over the next couple days Pepper became lethargic. Her symptoms continued to progress. She vomited several more times, continued to not want to eat, and her lethargy became worse.

These people Don't genuinely care about our pets. I do not recommend them at all! I took my cat in and first of of the lady at the front desk had an attitude, not friendly at all. I heard her on the phone with potential patients one scenario was a dog that got into something, I guess it's just something they just didn't wanna deal with, she lied and said the technician just told her they were booked and told them to go to Peoria!

There wasn't a technician up there she made that up. Right after that happened she shut my door. The doctor came in with news on my cat. She was like a robot. Nothing genuine, showing no care towards my cat and his well being. All she was concerned about was her sales. I felt so disgusted with what I witnessed with the front desk person and now this.

I paid these Crooks their $110.00 and left. I'm so upset right now I could literally cry, I had to pull over, I'm shaking so bad I couldn't drive, I'm so upset with their heartless actions. I just drove an hour to get here. my cat is still sick. And I'm 110.00 in the hole and no closer to him getting better.

Amy did a great job at answering my question I had about something my dog ingested. She helped me determine he would be fine and put my mind at ease. It is so nice to have a place to call after hours for assistance! We also took our previous dog here years ago for an after hours injury and they treated him with great care and compassion. A true blessing in our community for pet parents who need care after hours.

They did an amazing job with my puppy. They got her right in and did everything they needed and possible to make my sure my puppy was back to her normal self. They are pretty reasonable on prices and do outstanding work. I really recommend taking your pets to them. They are my first choice on taking my pets in the case of an emergency again.

These folks saved our dog this week after she got ahold of and ate a fatal amount of chocolate. The staff got us in right away and the veterinarian immediately put a treatment plan into place. We would have been heartbroken to lose our dog, and are very thankful to the people at Animal Emergency Center of the QC for saving her.

My best friend just took the cat she rescued to this vet. Not only did she complain this was the absolute WORST experience ever but the people who work here need to be more sensitive when dealing with the topic of euthanasia! My best friend decided she wanted to let him pass in the town he grew up in (macomb illinois) the next day and the lady told her she's being "so unfair and making him suffer more" all because she wants to euthanize him in a place where she has the most support! shame on you guys and everyone who works here! do better!

We have a newborn at home and mom and dad are pretty tired these days, not fully dog proofing the space at times. We left a pacifier in the reach of our two dogs and unfortunately one of them ate it while we were out running errands. We weren't sure which dog but we called AEC and spoke to Amy who was so calm and gave us such great advice. After talking over what her and doctors recommended we decided it was best to come in to induce vomiting as she advised us pacifiers usually get stuck and being in jn the time frame still, we could possibly catch it while still in the stomach.

Lucky for us that was the case and one of our dogs was guilty. Although they were busy their staff never once showed it. They were so kind and positive the entire time and made us feel at ease during a rather scary moment. I can't recommend this team enough as they potentially helped save our fur babies life. Thank you to Amy and team for doing a fantastic job!

I'm so grateful for Dr. Benge and his staff (especially the tech, Alyssa) for all of their hard work. They were very calming and communicative, and really helped me to understand what was going on with my kitty. You can tell these people truly care and love what they do for a living. Hopefully I won't need to come back for another emergency visit, but I'm grateful that these guys are here if I ever need them.

I can't thank the doctor and everyone who helped Lizzy enough! From them helping me get there and get parked as I was in my semi to making Lizzy take a 100% turn around with her health in a matter of an hour! They knew what my puppy had in a matter of 15 minutes and immediately started treating her! Thank you guys so much!

I was so thankful to have AEC take care of my puppy who had a gastric obstruction. The local emergency vets in my area were out of capacity so I made the hour drive to Bettendorf. From beginning to end the visit was above and beyond my expectations. They were welcoming, professional, efficient and very conscious of protecting everyone from COVID. Dr. Benge was wonderful!

He communicated to me about what was going on and the plan moving forward and I felt that my dog was in excellent hands. He had to take my dog to surgery and by the next day she was back to her feisty self! Without him and all of the staff there my dog wouldn't have lived. She owes her life to their excellent care and concern. The vet techs and other support staff were equally impressive, showing tenderness and compassion to me and my dog, keeping me informed regarding her progress and telling me from the get go the prices involved for different scenarios. I just wish they had a clinic closer to me. I highly recommend the Animal Emergency Clinic and would go back in a heartbeat.

Great service! So professional, quick and understanding! If you have an emergency over the weekend I recommend skipping City Line and going straight here. They got us in and evaluated our girl ASAP. Thank you again for your compassionate, kind, caring, and professional service! Leelou's Mom & Dad

The staff could not have been better! They were so kind, caring, compassionate, honest and truly went above and beyond for us. We ended up having to put our dog to sleep. It was such a hard decision, but she wasn't going to get better. I appreciate everything they did for us and our dog. They took care of the cremation, gave us a paw print in clay with her name on it, and a lock of fur. They also sent a sympathy card signed by all of the staff.

My dog cricket ate a shoelace at night. I called and they said I could try induce vomiting at home and gave instructions on how to do so. Dog throw up didn't have to come in. They were so helpful. By there advice I didn't need to come in and pay an emergency bill. Thank you so much for putting my dogs health before profit.

The folks at Animal ER were awesome with my Mollie. I was panicking because she had choked and, at first, wasn't breathing. They were calm and took her inside. Turned out she had a stick stuck in the roof of her mouth. They took it out, brought her back to me, and didn't even charge me. I will definitely recommend them to my animal loving friends and donate what I would have paid to an animal shelter!

My son's dog became sick while staying at my home. They are from Chicago and we felt that Deja required immediate attention. She had been vomiting and had very bad diarrhea. This had been going on for more than 12 hours. Deja has a VERY sensitive stomach and is very allergic to different foods. We were pretty sure that she had eaten some of my dog's food, which caused her "tummy troubles". The desk staff and the vet were amazing and took their time to listen and explain. My son asked for some fluids to be administered to avoid dehydration and the vet made sure that this was done even though she did not think that Deja was dehydrated at this time. Charges were explained to us when we called prior to our visit. We were so thankful that we had a good and competent facility that could accommodate us at 9:00 at night! Once Deja returned to my house, she was noticeably feeling much better! The medicine that we have to administer was explained to us well and they also provided good information in written form so we would have no problems doing what needed to be done!
