Services
New Canaan Veterinary Hospital has always been, and continues to be, a family owned full service veterinary practice located at 7 Vitti Street in New Canaan. At a time when many if not most veterinary facilities are being gobbled up by big business, New Canaan Veterinary Hospital is still privately owned.
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, significant health changes can occur at a greater rate than their owners might expect. So we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs. On Site Ultrasounds: Dr. Potenza is specifically trained to perform on site Ultrasounds right here at NCVH, no need to go to another facility.
When you are looking for a veterinary hospital you should be able to count on superior care and excellent service. We at New Canaan Veterinary Hospital in New Canaan CT have assembled an expert team of veterinary professionals to bring you the best possible health care for your pet. We have a state of the art veterinary facility which is clean, comfortable, and efficient.

Great place to work! Staff is very friendly and honestly care for their patients as well as their customers. Dr. Potenza and Dr. Schafler are the most caring veterinarian doctors I have ever seen. They have such passion to help each and every patient that comes in. I would definitely recommend New Canaan Veterinary Hospital to everyone!

My two dogs are terrified of getting their nails trimmed. It's been so bad for my oldest pup that she's had to be sedated to get through a nail trim. Dr. Schaefler has been magical -- she's worked with me to develop a behavioral modification approach that is working for both my dogs. My oldest pup now only needs a little anxiety medication to take off the edge. Dr. Schaefler and her assistant Larry have been loving, gentle and patient with both my dogs, and are helping them overcome their nail trim fears. I am incredibly grateful.

The team at NC Vet have been looking after our dog for 10 years. Everyone there is incredibly friendly and professional, and the level of care we receive from both the veterinarians and the staff is excellent. The practice is extremely well-run. We also appreciate the in-house grooming, which is not only convenient but highly recommended as well.

They offered good care for my sick dog but the night I had an emergency I left a message with the on call doctor and no one ever called me back. That night I had to put my dog down at an emergency hospital. The next day I called them to let them know the dog was put down and they said the doctor would call me and they never did. I know my pet had passed away but I thought I would have gotten an on call doctor to call me back that night and his regular doctor to call me back to bring closure to the care for my sick pet.
