I would like to give zero stars but I can't. I have carried 2 dogs here within the last 6 months (same doctor) and 1 of these same dogs had to go at another time (different doctor this time). All 3 times the dogs were misdiagnosed and had to be carried to an emergency vet (which costs way more on top of the cost you have already paid). The last time I carried the last dog on 6/08/22 the dog had a mass growing in his groin area.
The only thing the dr did was look at him, rub up and down his frame and listen to his heart. No bloodwork, no stool samples. Claimed she was going to aspirate the area with some type of little tube but the only thing I saw come out was blood and she claimed she saw nothing of concern when she looked at it. Gave him an antibiotic and sent us on our way.
Fast forward to 6/13/22, we had just gotten home from vacation and noticed the dog (he had just turned 1 year old mind you) wasn't acting like he felt good. Looked at the growth and it had about doubled in size. Carried him to Points East in Wilson(I highly recommend them however who can afford to go to an emergency vet every time an animal has a need).
They began doing blood work, stool samples, X-rays, etc. come to find out the dogs liver was swollen, lungs were not working properly, and his platelets were down. They planned to keep him over night to do a biopsy on 6/14/22. Unfortunately, the dog went to go to restroom around 5 this morning and they noticed blood coming from nose and stool. They tried to perform cpr but it was unsuccessful.
This is the worst place I have ever been, will never go back, will never recommend them to anyone. I wouldn't even carry a worm in there from here on out. This practice doesn't have the knowledge nor the means to treat animals properly.

I have been going to coats vet since Dr. Coates worked at Riverside, Close to 25 years ago. I loved Dr. Coates is manner is way of handling the dogs and cats and his philosophy. So when he returned to Rocky Mount I was thrilled as I'm sure many people were to have him back and practicing here. Will you became friends over the years as we both had cancer at the same time and we were talking about it.
When we lost him I was deeply saddened. But I became familiar with Dr walker at that point and now she is my vet to go to. She has taken care of all my babies with such love and commitment and determination to help them. If she doesn't know the cure she will research it until she finds one. Recently she helped me with my baby when I was hospitalized and I knew my little one was getting the best care. I cannot say enough good or speak too highly of the vets and a text at coats vet if you want a vet in Texas who really really care you'll go to codes vet.

Had a 1 y/o beagle here 6/9/22 for a mass near his private area. They claim they couldn't see anything wrong with it so they just throw him on an antibiotic and send him home. Fast forward to 6/13/22 we spend all night at Points east in Wilson to find out his lungs and liver is swollen and that his blood platelets are low. They kept him over night to try and get some more answers and we get a call this morning 6/14/22 saying our dear beagle has passed.
This place doesn't have the equipment to be an animal hospital cause if they did they would of tested him on the 9th and found the things points east did. I hope they will see this review and try to Half way make things right with a reimbursement which still doesn't replace the dog.

The doctors and staff are always super helpful and go beyond what is expected to take care of my little Buddy. They don't mind phone calls or questions but are patient to explain whatever we need and treat Buddy like their own sweet dogs. Could not ask for better care and concern for my puppies needs! He loves them as much as I do!

Absolutely amazing experience and very professional service. Thank you for all the help with getting our new found stray Lily on the track to getting healthy. It's been 27hrs as of this time and she's feeling day and night different and she thanks you all for the help and care she had received yesterday.

Even though my dog is very nervous at the vet (she's a BIG baby), they are very patient with her and always so nice. By the time she's leaving, her mood has completely changed. Definitely recommend them to anyone in the area looking for a new vet! Plus, they have grooming services as well and our girls always come home looking their best!
