Services
Emily started at the clinic in 2013 as an intern and we liked her so much, we decided to keep her after she graduated as a Registered Veterinary Nurse! She is a mother to two growing girls and 2 dogs named Hoover and Eureka (Eek for short). Emily loves to spend her free time lost in the woods, but if the weather doesn't permit, then you'll find her lost in a good book.
The Urbana Veterinary Clinic, Inc. was established in 1968 by a husband and wife veterinarian team: Dr. Donald E. Sanders, large animal, and Dr. Judith A. Sanders, small animal. We've taken all of our dogs to this clinic and have been so happy with the staff. Dr. Cole especially takes such good care of both our dogs and their humans. He's always willing to offer multiple solutions and patiently explains every medication or condition, and thoroughly discusses treatment plans with us. It's obvious that he cares as much for our pets as we do.

Our senior lab was having difficulty walking and we assumed it was arthritis in his hips. They were able to get him in quickly for being a new patient. I love how they allowed me to drop him off and they’d call for us to pick him up later. It worked out perfectly with having a toddler and no available childcare. They were very thorough on the phone with both my husband and I about what they found. He has a partially torn ligament and instead of pushing for surgery right away, they gave us some options to try and have him examined in a couple weeks to see the healing progress. It’s refreshing to find a vet that truly cares and isn’t just looking to up charge you. On that note, I was shocked at how affordable their fees are! We definitely found a forever vet for our pups!

I called them based on my sister in laws referral. I have never had an experience at any vet in my life of 48 years as I did here with the entire staff! From the initial call to dropping off my beloved dog for cremation, they were all so personable and much more than professional. They were so very compassionate and empathetic. I live in Springfield and yet I will always refer others to this clinic! Top notch!

Very poor organization and care. We needed a pain med refill after a surgery and despite calling four times, they never submitted the prescription leaving our pet in pain. They also 'forgot to bill us' despite my husband asking if that was everything, then had us pay twice the amount quoted to release our vet records. Don't recommend.

My dog and I had the worst vet experience of our life with Dr. Mcmanus. DO NOT GO TO DR. MCMANUS if you have a choice of vet here. We went in for a routine check up for my dog with some shots and and a physical. I explained to her that my dog did not like to have hands around his neck and that if there were other alternative saftey measures to use them.
She completely ingnored me, backed my dog into a corner, and put him in a choke hold. My dog became scared and then aggressive. I asked her to please stop and try another way (like a muzzle) and she interupted me, raised her voice to talk over me, and refused. She was extreamly rude to me and threatened to have us leave. This continued for 15 minutes and by the time we were done I was furious and so was my dog.
They tried to do this a second time and I asked again for a muzzle which the assistant finally agreed to and it worked much better, keeping my dog calm and feeling safer than a choke hold. I wrote an email to the owner of the clinic, Dr. Cole explaining the situation and how my dog and I were treated. I left him my personal email and phone number for contact information.
I never heard a reply from him. Instead, he emailed my mom (the second owner in their system) and refused to apologize and said that he would give our records to another vet clinic. I am horrified and outraged by the treatment of both the doctor and owner of this clinic, especially after we have been long-term clients of this place. I hate how this whole thing has been handled and feel completely disrespected by this business. Do not come here if you have another option. They don't care about you or your pets.

If I could give 100 stars I would. I truly thought my Yin was going to die. She was very ill and not responding well. I call UVC and they rushed in her immediately. Not only that, they were able to keep her to nurture back. They called to check on her twice a day for weeks after she was home and doing well. UVC really went the extra mile and I will never take my animals anywhere else. They are truly cared for here.
