Animal lovers. In everything we do, we believe in caring for every pet we see like our own and making a difference in your life. I love working at Bastrop Vet because of the personal relationships with clients and the variety of species we see. I love the animals of course, but I also love the variety that veterinary medicine has provided - this profession allows me to continue learning every single day, and there are countless opportunities to use the gifts God has given me to serve Him.I love veterinary medicine, especially mixed animal medicine, for the variety it provides.
We understand that emergencies do happen. Our professional staff is ready to help with any emergencies that occur during business hours. With our access to in-house laboratory and imaging, we try to pinpoint the problem as fast as possible and aim to keep your pet comfortable. Just like people, some emergencies require more specialized and intensive care.
Regular wellness examinations or checkups are vital in order to keep your pet as healthy and happy as possible. These visits give us an opportunity to perform a thorough physical exam and help identify any medical problems your pet may have that would affect their quality of life. We start each visit with a discussion regarding your pet's current health at home, any concerns you may have for today, and a history of any symptoms your pet may have.
Regular preventative care can ensure better health for your cattle, sheep, goats, and other small ruminants. Vaccinations are available to prevent respiratory infections and Clostridial infections including tetanus and blackleg. Regular deworming is essential for preventing parasites including intestinal parasites, flies, ticks, and lice.

In Cedar Creek area for the summer from NC and one of my dogs came down pretty sick. Dr Burghardt waited for us to get there since it was right at closing. Super caring, thorough and got my dog taken care of in a timely manner. I even wound up taking my other dog there for shots. I'm so very appreciative of the wonderful care my fur babies received.

Our senior Cavalier was struggling with something and we needed a vet. After a number of attempts to be seen, Bastrop Vetinary Hospital gave us a time. Being new to the area we were looking to get established with a vet. What a well run professional operation. We caught a serious issue early. Thank you to Dr Wahl and a very competent staff for the prompt treatment. Connor is doing better already. Seems Connor has a Vet. We're very pleased.

I received a call from this office this morning. They informed me I cannot bring my dog for a nail trim on a Saturday. I had an appointment at 9:30. Keep in mind that every appointment I've made for the past five years has been on a Saturday unless I'm off work. They said she's aggressive even though her vet has told them she is not. Her vet wasn't at the office today for them to ask.

She is not aggressive; she simply comes in a nervous wreck because she doesn't like riding in the car. She's a pit bull which might have something to do with it even though you would think a vet's office wouldn't discriminate against the breed. I'm furious with them!

I can't say enough about how caring and professional the whole staff is. From the way they answer the phone to set up an appointment, to the check out process after the treatment. I would recommend them to anyone looking for vet care. They helped me and my four legged family members at some of our most difficult times. They gave me facts without pressure or guilt to let us make the decision that was best for our family.

I recently stared taking my two cats here and the staff here are so friendly! Every single experience has been amazing! I often have to stop by to pick up a medication for one of my pets and even though there seem to be many, many phone-calls and people checking in/out constantly the front desk staff are so sweet/patient despite how busy it gets sometimes! Definitely an amazing office and I do appreciate all the hard work that the staff puts in to make it that way - it does not go unnoticed. :'

Y'all! I am THAT pet parent. The one who has pet insurance, the one who makes her own dog food, the one who refers to her pugs as her babies so when I tell you how awesome Dr Burghardt and her staff are, I MEAN IT. I could write many paragraphs on my relationship with BVH but most recently my beloved baby developed diabetes. It's heart breaking to me but Dr B has managed it beautifully. Here's the deal, left our insulin out on the counter by total accident (has to be thrown away if not kept refrigerated).

My pug is extremely dependent on this med. Normal turn around for medicine is 24-48hours. I freaked. However, they understood and moved all kinds of mountains to get me the medicine my baby needs. My emergency became their emergency. My baby has her meds, we will NEVER forget the insulin on the counter again and once again, BVH saved the day. Biggest thank you to all the staff that made this happen for us!

If I could give them 20 stars I would. My 3 year old Lab was diagnosed with a rare disease. No Breeder I know knew dogs were susceptible to. It was an aggressive disease and within 4 days he was gone. They heroic efforts put fort by the Vets and staff to save Jasper were astounding and the emotions when he passed were genuinely heartwarming. The fought with every too they had and I will forever be greatful.

I love my Bastrop Veterinarians. Clean hospital. Friendly staff. They have saved my kittys life one time. Provide excellent care for my dog. New puppy was very well taken care of. Free samples of heart guard, flea meds, nice hearty sized bag of free starter food. We always feel confident in the care and suggestions we get. Never one time have I sought a second opinion or been disappointed with the love and care we get.

Dr Schwettman and Dr Dawson are thorough, professional, kind and willing to listen and answer questions. Techs are empathetic, experienced and helpful. Front desk ladies are attentive, friendly and up to their tasks. Been taking my 5 dogs here for 4 years and wouldn't go elsewhere. These people are the BEST!

Love love love this vet! Dr. Dawson is AMAZING. My dog Gaia got lethargically sick shortly after my move from Virginia. I brought her in and within a month under Dawson and vet staff care, my pup is in the best health i believe shes ever been in now that theres an accurate diagnosis. She is definitely closely monitored and all I see is improvement. Eventually, I will one by one bring the rest of my pets in to be seen once money starts flowing in. I'm forever greatful of the quick efforts and attentiveness they have shown Gaia!

Annie, our coming 11 year old Sheepadoodle dog, was recently seen for her annual checkup. The vet was on the floor with her, petting and talking to her, which allowed Annie to relax. Annie means the world to our family. Making the vet visit as pleasant as possible for her is critically important to us. Staff at Bastrop Veterinary Hospital accomplished that.

Excellent veterinarian clinic. Me and my family have been going to them for over 15 years. They have the best prices, never over charging and I absolutely love Dr. Dawson. She is absolutely amazing! Definitely my go to vet, I live an hour away and am happy to make the drive to see her. She is knowledgable and very kind, answers any questions or concerns I have and actually cares for my dogs.

I received multiple phone calls checking up on my Raya and her puppies, no veterinarian clinic I've been to has ever done that, and I've been to many. That really ment a lot to me. It is hard to find a good vet nowadays. Thank you so much again for everything. I would give 10 stars if I could!

We have been taking all of our dogs and cats to Bastrop Vet for many years. We have always had the best experience with all of the doctors! We recently had an emergency with our cat and when I called they said they were booked but that one of the doctors would see us right now even though it was her lunch break! Baby cat did not make it but they took the absolute best care of him and me! Forever grateful

My older cat stopped eating and his blood work was good for his age. Dr. Wahl came up with the right treatment for Jack. By the second day he was eating and acting normal. Thank you Dr Wahl and staff!

I brought my two chihuahuas to their dental cleaning. This is the best veterinary hospital I have experienced! The staff and doctors really cared for them and explained the aftercare thoroughly so that I understood the directions. They called after surgery to check on them too. And it felt good as a dog owner to have everyone make me feel like my dogs where the cutest ever even though not true, lol!

The price was the best for dental cleaning that I could find within a 50-mile radius. My wallet was so happy it said I could buy new pair of shoes! What I found surprising, is how clean they look now and how much better my chihuahua's breath is too! They look like puppy teeth, so white! Every dog should have their teeth cleaned and not for just good oral health but leaving decaying teeth intact could create other more serious health issues. Also, they may be in pain and can't tell you. Ask the staff about getting a 20% dental discount during certain months too! Trust me, your fur babies will thank you!

We've been taking our dogs and cats here for almost 8 years now. The staff is always friendly and professional. They know us and our pets. They've been extremely compassionate when we've had to deal with the hard stuff. I had to put my 17 old golden retriever down a couple years ago. I had them do a farm call, so we could do it at home. The vet was very nice and understanding. I was obviously heart broken, and she told me I could just call and take care of the payment later.

Iv been brining my dogs here for a few years now and have never had any problems, the girls in the front are always nice and my dogs are always happy when i pick them up. Today my 8 month old went in for a gash on the back of her leg. They got us in fairly quickly kept her for a few hours and gave her 6 stitches. Everything was reasonably priced and I couldn't be happier. So glad to have found a vet that I like and my dogs like.

We've had great experiences with the Bastrop Veterinary hospital. We've taken 4 dogs there. When we had to say goodbye to one, the staff was very sweet and made it as easy as it could be. They are fast to refill the dogs prescriptions & always friendly.

So many great doctors. Dr. B is our personal favorite. Always right there. Always conscious of cost and giving your fur children the best care. I currently have covid. My elderly cat has kidney disease and needs special food. I called and they charged my card over the phone and brought the food out and placed it in the bed of the truck. Little Brother is fat and happy knowing we have BVH on our team.

Been on hold for 20+ minutes trying to get an appointment. I guess I'm the type of person that would say "We are really busy at this time, do you mind holding a few more minutes" after putting someone on hold. I would answer the phone again after 5 min. Does the phone not ring back? Seriously 25 min. on hold is really so un professional.

They were great about dealing with my puppy that hasn't been loading yet, and they made sure all of my dog's records were current and they talked to me about what I wanted. Easy to make an appointment and this is my new vet. NOT! Haven't been able to communicate with the Vet who did the exam. Called daily for a week! 2 dogs - $400 just for the basics and the pup got a nail trim. I think it is a bit pricey, no discussion about senior discounts. I think we're going to check out Lagrange for the next bout.

Bastrop Veterinary Hospital is the only Vet that I use. I have 4 beloved dogs that are seen there. Dr. Dawson is the vet that we always request. She is great! Very thorough, professional and always kind and caring. She has gone above and beyond for my dogs. I have been helped a couple times when I needed something in a hurry and the friendly staff is always willing to help me get in quickly.

My 10 week old pup was bit by a snake recently and since we live close, she was in with the vet within minutes of the bite. I know this helped tremendously with her fast recovery. She was seen by a different vet for that and he was great as well. Prices are very reasonable and they are always generous with samples that they have on hand. I highly recommend them to everyone in need of a great Veterinary Hospital.

I have been taking my Dutch Shepherd, Da-Go to Bastrop Vet Hospital since he was a new pup. He is 3 yrs old now. I had to start my dog on ApoQuel for his itching 3 months ago. this prescription will be needed to be ordered every month. Bastrop Vet Hospital does price match, which we did the first prescription, with the acquired email. My problem is, we have to send an email every month with a price match to get the price match on his meds, this price should be set for every month. so I dont have to send email proving my price match.

This past week, my wife had problems with getting our price match price. all my wife was asking for was a month supply, which cost me 74.00 last month for 30 pills. The Vet employee brought out a prescription with 42 count and cost of 134.00 All four employees that came out to her car, all young women, had an attitude with her when she tried explaining to them with she wanted.

If these girl dont want to walk out to peoples cars, "your customers "with a smile and a great attitude, then they need to stay in the office and away from customers. especially the young hispanic girl, Your Hospital is overpriced. and your employees are Rude. I will be looking into taking my Dog to another Vet, Maybe Crossroads, they are way cheaper and friendlier. TW

I have been going to this Vet since 2018 and been very pleased with the Doctors that have treated my pets. However, last Monday I took my daughter's cat for what I was told was a consulting appointment about declawing which they said was necessary before they would schedule surgery. I had been told over the phone in April that they performed the laser technique for this surgery and it would cost about $475.

So when I called to schedule the surgery, they said this consult was necessary first. The nurse that took me into the exam room was very nice to me but explained they do not use the laser technique which surprised me. But when Dr. Wahl finally came into the exam room, she was abrupt and said she would not do the surgery because the cat was 8 months old.

There was no explanation or giving me facts about the surgery to prepare my daughter before making the decision to proceed with the surgery - which I thought was the purpose of the consult. She said she only did the surgery on cats 6 mos or younger. But when I pressed her and said so you won't do the surgery - she said for $1000 I will do the surgery.

So I said I would go somewhere else. Then asked if I needed to pay for this "consult" and she told me yes. So I had to pay $35 for being insulted for wanting to declaw my cat when they could have told me at the time I made the appointment that they do not perform the surgery for cats over 6 mos old. I wrote a letter and mailed it about my concern over the way I was treated by this doctor but no one has contacted me about this rude situation. So I will be taking my own cat to another vet for their yearly check up next month. Very disappointed.

Good doctors. They have taken good care of my animals. But you have to check the bill to be sure it is correct, check to be sure all meds on the bill are actually brought out, and have to use their online pharmacy because they no longer carry products in the clinic needed for maintenance (heartworm, flea medication). Using their online pharmacy is a pain for too many reasons to list here. Can't use anyone else though.

I tried. If you know this and have patience, then I recommend this clinic. Bottom line, good care of my animals is worth the hassle if you don't already have a good vet.

The vets are great and that's why I have been a customer for 6 years. But the customer service has hit rock bottom! They send a tech out to take your money that has the personality of a dead fish and can't even look at you or acknowledge you if you ask a question. And then when you do get some one that will speak to you they are like "oh well sucks to be you". I waited for 45 minutes to pick up my dog from a grooming appointment! I get y'all are busy but that's crazy!

The vets and vet techs are great. The clinic manager, Janet, is an absolute nightmare. She's petty and vindictive. A couple examples: My dog was getting surgery and the vet tech told me that pickup was at 6, but as long as I came by 630 it was fine. I got stuck in traffic and called and told them my eta was 607. Janet told me that if I was after 6 I would be charged an overnight fee and they would not give my dog back until the next day.

I arrived at 604. Got my dog back and they charged me a 25 dollar overnight fee anyways. There were still plenty of people on the parking lot. I had asked for the medications to be called into HEB, which I had done before because the meds at this vet are overpriced. I had never been charged to do this. When I picked my dog up, I found that they had charged me 20 dollars to call the meds in.

When I asked about it, Janet got snippy and said that I should have been charged every time. I parked in the handicap spot once. I'm a disabled veteran and have handicap plates. Janet came outside and snapped at me that I didn't belong in the handicap spots. I missed an appointment once due to an emergency. I paid them the 65 they requested.

I called last week to schedule an appointment and was told that the price was double the normal price, and I needed to pay ahead of time. I asked why, and they connected me to Janet, who said that due to me missing so many appointments I needed to pay ahead. I said well I've missed one and paid for it. I asked for a list of the appointments I apparently missed to be emailed to me and she said she was too busy. Great vets but the clinic manager is the epitome of power tripping mean girl who finds excuses to be petty and cruel.

For over 10 years my pets have received loving care from the fine folks at BVH. I am finding it difficult to communicate just how perfect the service is. Over dozens of visits, I haven't had one moment where I could wish for anything better. Every single staff member I've met has been friendly, courteous, kind and seem to truly love all pets. Much of the same staff remains over many many years, that's such a great sign!

We've done overnight intensive care, surgery, every kind of maintenance, resolved strange symptoms & behaviors - they're always giving perfect quality service. I suspect they've figured out how to pamper any pet in there because my corgi used to dislike vet visits and now he seems to like going in & he always leaves happy like he's been relaxing at a spa.

One of my favorite things is having a vet that remembers every single thing about my dog's health conditions and truly gives every option & great tips to improve the quality of life. All the vets & techs I've seen here are so extremely knowledgeable - it's obvious to me that they've got so much more experience than the city vets I've seen. The pricing is always better as well. I drive across Texas to get my pets here and refuse to go anywhere else for veterinary care.

I rarely write reviews but what happened today at the vet has to be known. I have dropped off fecal samples to the vet before and was always charged $20. Today I dropped off 2 samples to confirm my puppies were parasite free. They charged me $60- $30 per PUPPY. When I questioned the price the vet tech got very defensive and wouldn't answer why they were so much.

She went back to the office for a while then sent out another vet tech. The new tech said they change the price based on the quality of the sample yet I pay them prior to them even receiving the sample. So basically if they're having a slow day they're going to bump up their prices on you! If you like being lied to and robbed during a pandemic when money is tight then this is the vet for you!

This place is no good for 2 reasons, the staff has no idea what they are doing and they aren't trying to help customers save money. They charge you each time you go for nail trim even if you don't ask. Not to mention they do not work with chewy for flea and tick med so you have to pay an arm and a leg for their med. When I picked up my dog from there I asked the vet tech when he needed to be back and she looked at me and said I have no idea. Then I asked her when he needed his flea med which she responded she had no idea either. What kind of vet tech is that. Cedar creek and crossroads way better y'all

With them being professionals I expect a professional opinion. After we told them multiple times not to do excessive testing on our 16 year old shih tzu, I expected them to listen to us. Instead they did testing that we told them we didn't want and kept our dog at the vet all day when they could have been honest with us so we could spend the last day we had with our dog.

But yet, they gave us false hope, kept our dog all day and our dog ended up passing with in a few hours of being home. After they told us there was nothing wrong and the medication would help a lot.

We have dealt with some pushy vets before (namely in the city of Austin), but the reason we love these guys is because they strongly encourage you to be educated about your pets health. They will provide you with information on what is recommended/required for your pet based on age and history. but it's up to you, the owner, to be responsible in scheduling and asking for specific services. Not only are they affordable, but they are Aggie owned and operated! Whoop!

I have been going Bastrop vet hospital for 7 yrs, because they were so close to my house. There office is smelly, some of the staff is rude, also they over charge for everything. There service is slow. Emg # does not call back, and recording tells you to go to Austin emg, 40 or more miles away, an animal could be dead by the time you even get to Austin, much less to the emg hospital. They don't even give you your pets records so that you can take somewhere that treats you and your pets with respect.

My dog had a very bad stomach bug and they saw me right away! I called ahead to be able to walk in and I was still seen very quickly, I was surprised. And just when I thought my dog was getting better she took a quick turn and I brought her back about 2 hours from closing the next day and they yet still took care of us, no hesitation. Never had a doubt about what they were explaining either, it's nice to feel comfortable that my pups are being taken care of by knowledgeable staff.

Thought I'd try out a local veterinarian as I live here, my pup's other veterinarian is in Northwest Austin. There is quite a wait, in and out in about 1 hour and 15 minutes. My pup was examined in a back room with the vet, then he was brought back to me. After a wait she came and talked to me. My pup has dry eyes, allergies and always has itchy dry skin-after a visit fee, 2 eye meds and one oral antibiotic (5 pills) total was $249.

Quite a bit more expensive than my other vet. So they have an online pharmacy to order medications (what they don't have at their office) that my dog uses, which is called multi advantage (heartworm/flea prevention), $135 for 6 month supply, Valley Vet has the same medication for around $82 for 6 months. They will not sign off on a third-party vendor so that my dog can get his medication, as they want me to pay $50 more to their pharmacy. I would not trust trust this veterinary hospital, it's obvious they're just out for the money. I'll just keep driving to his vet in Austin
