Orcutt Veterinary Hospital was started in 2006 by Brenda Forsythe, PhD, DVM, a 1998 graduate of the University of California - Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Forsythe or Dr. Brenda as she is known to many of her clients has over a decade of clinical experience in medicine and surgery with a wide variety of animal species including horses, but her area of special interest has been in helping dogs and cats to stay healthy. To that end, she offers state of the art small animal medical and surgical care as well as experience as a veterinary chiropractitioner.
As Office Manager, she brings with her years of office experience as well as a great love for animals. She was a client of Dr. Forsythe's for several years before the opening of Orcutt Veterinary Hospital. She now combined her passion and her experience and is enjoying her part as a member of the team.
During my entire life I have been an animal lover, having had multiple animals and showing dogs in the competitive ring. I have had Arab horses, miniature horses, many dogs of various breeds, and a pet pig. I've provided foster care for many animals awaiting adoption through animal service agencies.

I really appreciate the quality of care and the caring and considerate attitude of the staff. They have been very busy lately, but whenever I've had a genuine emergency they have been able to work us in quickly. They were also very accommodating with letting me book back to back appointments on very short notice when I needed to bring in an unplanned addition to our pet family along with our dog who had a previously scheduled appointment. I also really appreciate the follow up phone calls to check in that everything is going well after the prescribed course of treatment.

This place is so slow, they have you come in early then have you wait to see the doctor. The office staff was disrespectful. After waiting 30 minutes I had to take my dog out to go to the bathroom, they told me I couldn't. I took him otherwise he would have went in the room. Then when I returned the girl with dyed hair told me that I can not leave, I informed her that he had to go to the bathroom.
Then preceded to tell me that when she goes to her human dr she has to wait for an hour sometimes. She continued with telling me I have to wait. The dr was good, but some of her staff sucks and needs to take a class on customer service and respect

Will find more reasons to charge you. Took our pets there for the first time which they clearly knew, for heartworm diagnostics. Then proceeds to call us later (after seeing them) to tell us because they haven't seen our dogs they need to get a wellness check. AKA we need to bring them back and get charged again despite them knowing this was their first time. Seemed like a cash grab or poorly coordinated op.
Neither is great. Perhaps it was really bad timing but we also happen to go the day they started charging a credit card fee. If you have access to Vandenberg there is a veterinarian clinic on base that is far more reasonable and available.
