The emergency waitlist app is terrific, and they meant it when they said they’d be ready for my pet and me. A person was at the emergency door when we stepped out of the car, and they took my pet in as I was doing the paperwork. The place is immaculate.
Dr. Sergio was very kind and very clear about our options, and incredibly supportive of my choices.
I hope I won’t need to be back there for an emergency, but this is the place to go if you are worried and your pet is sick. The 24/7 hours are a Godsend.

Finding out my beloved pup has cancer has been beyond traumatic but Dr McCue was so nice. If I ever get cancer I want him to tell me
Someone at the front desk (I don’t know her name) gave me the warmest hug when I walked in crying after receiving the news.
We ended up getting radiation treatment in a different state so we could start 2 weeks sooner but I won’t hesitate to go back to ASC for any future needs. The entire staff was so nice.

I have been to ASC 3 times now for emergencies. They are kind, helpful and considerate. The vet sat with me this time to discuss possible issues with my pet and listened. She made me feel heard and was thorough in explaining what was happening with my chihuahua. The technician who received us was amazing as well. She was so good with my dog. It was a great experience. Like all veterinarians offices it was expensive- but I understand that the work they do and what they provide has a monetary value just like everything else. Nano and I say thank you!

Susan and her rehab team were wonderful with my 9.5 year old tripod pup. My dog strained her remaining back leg and we wanted to get it back up to strength and confirm that she was in a healthy state. Susan so very clearly cared for our girl, loving her like her own. She did a detailed assessment and helped us learn how our dog was coping as a fairly new tripod. We completed 8 sessions. Our fairly shy dog was excited each time we went, which is telling of how kind Susan was. We also learned some exercises we can do at home moving forward. We're extremely grateful for Susan and her team!

I tell them my concerns and they take my cat to the back and told me to wait out front - then they come out and tell me that the fees are gonna be estimated at $700 to possibly $950 - nothing was done to my cat - I tell them I can't afford that, yet they have not brought my cat back to me. We've been here since 1:49pm with my children and now it's 3:12pm - no cat and a bunch of excuses about my cat is been discharged and how my cat will die if I wait any longer - now they have an invoice for $200 for emergency visit - I ask for an EOB - explanation of benefits and they are saying it's a standard emergency room visit with no EOB - that it's a consult - how do you consult when I was told my cat needed to be sedation - I gave all the information. This is not the place to bring your pet in case of an emergency- it's all about money.

I am not sure how to give less than one star on an app, but if I could I would. I brought my cat in on Monday, with severe signs of infection and decomposition, on Monday June 6th. I was discharged with "gingivitis and perdontial issues" that needed antibiotics to clear up and a good cleaning. When I got home, my cat collapsed to the floor, which I called back, and alerted them to be told it was normal, and to wait a few days.
The next day was not any better, in fact worse. I brought him in again, to have x rays, and blood work. All I was able to be told was there was an issue they could not detect, he needed to stay, but the ER was closing per no staff. I was told to bring him to Connecticut. I am now on my way, two days later, to put my cat down, as this issue had nothing to do with his mouth, and they severely misdiagnosed my animal. My animal is now in pain; and leaving me. I would never want someone to go through what I did at this location.

I've visited over many years with several different animals. My first visit was with my Doberman Pinscher about 7 years ago for an emergency nose bleed. Then 5 years ago when his heart started to fail and we had to have end of life discussions. My dog was treated like family, we were treated so kindly and he left us with dignity. On that note, I take care of neighborhood cats now and sometimes that entails trapping and bringing in strays for end of life consultation/appointments.
Even when they are strays, no matter how tattered or unwell, they have a l w a y s been treated with care, love and respect. Different staff, every time. Always the same beautiful treatment. If anyone from Animal Specialty Center reads this - thank you so much for being strong for us and our animal companions. Thank you for being kind, honest and vulnerable. Thank you for saving so many lives on a daily basis. You are so appreciated!

Our 6 yr young Female Doberman Fenix, received 3 palliative radiation treatments for her osteosarcoma, she also has had bone infusion treatments, and they will continue monthly for the next 3 months. She's doing fantastic, she's able to use her leg fully and is running, and playing with her brother's like she's a puppy again, we are so pleased with her progress. (She was literally given a death sentence by a prior veterinary hospital who also wanted to remove her leg, we opted for a 2nd opinion, and we're so glad we did. Low and behold she's living her best life and has full use of her leg). Thank you Dr. Rosen and staff for taking such great care of our girl.

I would give them zero if I could. Our elderly cat was having urinary accidents and we made her an online appointment (as our regular vet was not available) and was told to come around 2:30pm today. It's almost 7:30 pm and she was just discharged with no diagnosis and no treatment plan. The support staff is awful. The contact with the vet was minimal (by phone). We still need to go to our regular vet so this visit was COMPLETELY USELESS, expensive and a waste of time.

I have had two beloved pets so far being treated at the Animal Specialty Center. Both had cancer in the nasal area. Both were given radiation. The first pet lived for two more years very happily until the cancer returned. The second dog has just had radiation and I hope he will live a couple more years free of pain. At all times we were treated incredibly well by everyone. I would definitely bring my pets there again. The treatment is expensive, but not more expensive than at my local vet. I completely trust the ASC.

Please dont bring any of your pets here! Look at the reviews itself, i ignored them and brought my pet here in a life or death situation and they almost killed my pet by not having a plan for him and wasnt qualified too even have him be there since they didnt have or do anything they should of been doing for him. I got my pet out there and somewhere else so fast and he went from being in critical condition too being stable in a day of a new hospital.
The staff is rude, ignorant and lack of empathy for animals so are the doctors who are money hungry! Your pet could die by the time they start a surgery they are so unprepared and very delayed on everything they do, wait hours are insane and all they know is HIGH sedation and couldnt pick up the signs of something serious going on with my dog in the most critcal times of post surgery like seriously? Ive seen about 4 animals pass away being at this place since I been taking my pet here so many owners in tears dont let that be you because it could of been me.
They are unprofessional and dont treat your pet how you would want them treated! They had no plan for my dog but too do surgeries after surgeries and leave him there too die. I was even told " every owner treats there pets differently" My pet was screaming in cages and scared for his life whenever he was there he was not in good hands and this was a nightmare.
They gave me no hope for my pet and kept giving me the option of putting him down?! They definitely messed up along the lines of my pet being there from negligence and possibly didnt even do surgeries right! Everyone there was horrible from the director too doctors too staff, I dont know how this business is opened they dont care about animals or owners they know youre in desperate need and prey upon that. BRING YOUR PET SOMEWHERE ELSE before its too late!

Dr. Louise Murray and Marcy Drought are the “dream team“ at ASC. As the Internal Medicine team they are not only amazing at trouble shooting tough to figure out cases, but they are also both extremely caring. They have both gone out of their way to bring in special foods and supplements not typically supplied by a hospital. And they always keep looking for answers, even when it seems like everything has been tried.
They think outside of the box, which is not only refreshing but also lifesaving. And they are both respectful of their clients’ questions, concerns, and suggestions. After having had many cats in their care, I can’t say enough positive things about both of them. They are truly caring lifesavers.

Everyone there especially Jill and Adriana have been so compassionate and supportive to me and my Mocha. They were loving and made a very difficult time just a little bit less stressful. I only wish that Animal Specialty Center was also a clinic because I definitely would bring and recommend it to everyone. Love you guys

Love this spot. I've had 3 pets pass in the past 10 years (2 being this year one month apart) and they have been such an easy going hospital. Register online of their site www.animalspecialtycenter.com and do an ER mobile check in. There is a price for just walking in before having any special tests or treatment done. They also take great care of you when you have tosay goodbye to a pet.
They have private rooms to say good to your loved ones. You can always call for pricing but i know they charge to walk into ER and they offer to take body of any deceased, just to cremate, or put down and keep ashes.

AVOID FOR NON LIFE THREATENING EMERGENCY. the wait for an appointment is v long. and once you show up for the appointment longer than life wait times. totally and completely understand dire emergencies getting priority. BUT to wait hours to get an appointment (like 6+ hours in the middle of the nite) only to arrive on time for the appointment and wait 3+ hours to be seen and continually told "you're next". our non life threatening emergency obviously wasn't emergency enough to be seen.

I took my sweet dog Edwyn to see Dr. Rita Ho for the melanoma vaccine series, after his digit was amputated and he was diagnosed with malignant melanoma. She got him in quickly and was an absolute joy to work with! Everyone at ASC has been kind and compassionate throughout his treatments. I am so happy I found this wonderful team of professionals. I travel in from NYC to see them and will continue coming back for all my dog's speciality services! Thank you everyone for taking such good care of my boy!

So made my appointment and got there right on time and all went well.

Dr. Murray and Marcy are amazing! We brought our cat in for an emergency ultrasound and have been blown away by Dr. Murray's care and concern. She's spent a lot of time, carefully and at an understandable level, explaining what is going on with our cat. She has provided a realistic plan of action and is guiding us to make smart decisions. We are thrilled with the care we are receiving with Dr. Murray, Marcy, and the Animal Specialty Center.

I had to give one star just to write a review. If you love your animal don't go to ASC. My dog had a tumor in his chest. We spent close to $4200 to prolong his life. Took him in for a blood test before we were able to give him chemo pills. He WALKED in. When we picked him up in the afternoon we were handed his leash and his back legs just collapsed. Was told by the attendant was probably from being in the crate.
Our dog was never able to walk again. We had to bring him to our vet to put him to sleep. ASC finally called a week later to ask what happened. I said you tell me. Covid is used as an excuse so you can't go in. I have no idea what happened to him in there. Now it's almost 2 weeks after I spoke to them and at the time they said they would look into what happened. I never heard from them again. No compassion. All about money.

They have you put yourself in a "queue" so you can wait from home and get called when they are ready. I called to check in and I showed up. After 3.5 hours of waiting, nobody seemed to care to even help me. I honestly think even if my dog was dying, they wouldn't help. Try anywhere else. Take the time to drive upstate and maybe you can save your pets life. Worse than a human hospital smh. 4 hours now, I'm going home. Hopefully my dog is safe so I won't have to sue. They need to hire better assistants too. Not being knowledgeable when someone has an emergency can cause problems on the owner as well.

This place SUCKS! They have you make appointments online they don't tell you that you may have to wait 6-7 hours before you can be seen based on others pets needs. I understand that more serious cases go first, however had this been explained from the beginning. I could have called around to other places instead of sitting around only to never be called. Go somewhere where they care about your pets needs

Really upset at how we have been treated here after receiving such great care for our dog here for many years. We came to ASC specifically for the neurological staff and we always had a great experience. Yesterday I called because I needed to update the vet on an issue our dog was having. I was told that they no longer have neurology and the vet supporting this service has left.
I asked if they could let me know where the vet went and the person on the phone said no, then hung up on me. As a result we are now scrambling to find care for our dog. Advice to management, maybe inform your patients about such big changes so when you're services are needed your patients aren't caught of guard.

A few people had steered me away from this animal hospital due to its supposed high costs, but I could not be more satisfied with the service I received from them. My beloved cat, my first pet of my own, had been sick with an undiagnosed illness for awhile and was being treated by my regular veterinarian. I woke up one morning to my cat seeming to be in extreme discomfort, and I just knew it was his time to go.
As an animal lover, I had never felt so distraught, not only because I knew I'd lose him, but mostly because I knew he was suffering. I couldn't get in touch with my vet immediately so I called the Animal Specialty Center as it's the closest emergency facility to my home. I gave the details of the situation to the person who answered the phone and she told me it was unlikely they'd be able to accept my cat due to the number of high priority cases they had received overnight, but that she'd check with the doctor (and offered to refer me to another facility).
To my surprise, the doctor told me to come right in! The staff took my cat from my car while I waited for his evaluation and invited me inside shortly after. They led me into a therapeutic-type room where I held my boy, and they repeatedly stressed to take as much time as I needed before beginning euthanasia; so accommodating of them, especially having heard they were booked with other critical cases.
I was able to hold him throughout the entire process which was greatly appreciated as I didn't have hopeful expectations due to COVID restrictions. The staff was genuinely caring, patient, and sympathetic throughout my visit. The visit cost around $600 including private cremation which seemed quite reasonable. I was expecting to pay significantly more (and would have gladly done so, especially due to the kind and prompt service I received).
When I picked up my cat's ashes I was so pleasantly surprised by the thoughtful gifts included with the cremation package! From my experience, this facility and their staff seemed to truly care about pets and their owners and offered me comfort when I expected nothing more than a business transaction. I will be forever grateful for the care that I received during this very painful time. Thank you!

Our dog Kiki has an inoperable tumor that was pressing into her spine. She was miserable and in severe pain to the point where she couldn't even stand up unassisted in spite of being on maximum doses of pain medication. The vet who discovered Kiki's tumor in the MRI referred us to Dr. Rosen at ASC, who walked us through our options. We ended up deciding to go through with palliative radiation therapy.
Three weeks later, the tumor has shrunk enough that she is able to go on walks, chase a ball, and climb stairs. Seeing Kiki this happy and active again has been an unbelievable and unexpected joy. It has been a pleasure working with Dr. Rosen, and also interacting with hospital staff who have all been friendly and helpful during a very stressful period. I would definitely recommend this hospital and Dr. Rosen for other dogs in a similar situation.

RACIST! I called in the morning to let them know that my dog is not able to walk, her right leg is going limp. They advised me to bring her in as they do accept walk-ins. I arrived at 10:43am and was told to wait in my car to be seen. 4 other cars arrived shortly thereafter, white pet parents. I sat outside as instructed as the nurses came in and out to peer into my car, speak to me for a bit and then return back inside.
After waiting for almost 2-hours I called and they said my dog was next. Another car arrives and the nurse comes out, looks into my car, passes our car and goes to the car that just arrived and takes their dog in to be treated. They were THERE FOR 10 mins at most! And of course, they're white. I went to the nurse to ask her when is my dog being seen and she didn't even know my dogs name.

Dr. Eich and the staff at animal specialty center took amazing care of my best friend Darla! I ended up needing to get my dog emergency surgery and was able to get 2 estimates for Darla- I saved between 3-4 thousand dollars by coming here. The care was impeccable and I know Darla was well taken care of. Unfortunately, her lymphoma turned out to be really aggressive and she was suffering. Dr. Eich was extremely thoughtful and went above and beyond with the care for darla. Would happily refer any dog or take my dog there again- and I live in Jersey!

My 7 month old cocker spaniel, Kobe, was hit by a car, so we immediately rushed him to ASC because it was the only open place. I am SO GLAD I did. They took Kobe right away while the receptionist checked us in outside (Covid). I was frantic, and she kindly reassured me, took my info, and even got us cold water bottles from inside. The doctors called me twice daily and answered all my questions with patience and empathy, helping to guide my decisions for Kobe, especially Dr. Helmbold!
She was so patient with me, allowing me to take time to process over the phone with a warm tone. I also called other times throughout the day and was greeted warmly and encouragingly by the nurses and vet techs! They loved Kobe and made sure to tell me that he got lots of rubs and attention during his 3 night stay. They even FaceTimed me so I could see my baby!
Upon leaving, I was given all his medication, clear instructions, and follow up for his sutures and other things. Dr. Helmbold provided all her contact info and assured me that she would reach out again for follow up. Kobe has a long recovery process to go with multiple breaks and some severe pulmonary contusions, but they are confident he will make a full recovery.
The whole thing is pretty costly, even with emergency vet insurance, but the service and care they provided for both me and Kobe are worth it. I know I can count on ASC in the future should I have another emergency.

We had such a great experience thanks to the front office staff (Jojo), and the amazing medical professionals, Dr. Gaymon and Valerie. Due to Covid, they are only doing curbside drop off and pick up. We went today after being recommended by our vet when our puppy had bruising near her spay incision. All three folks we worked with were kind, professional, and helpful.
They took the time to explain what needed to be done and our bill, and were very helpful and patient. The wait was minimal on a Sunday afternoon-- I recommend you call ahead to ask what the wait is like if you are able to. They took our puppy, Pickles, in for a few hours to do some tests, which allowed us to conveniently go home and wait instead of being stuck in a waiting room or a parking lot.
And thankfully Pickles is doing fine! The bills were not cheap, but this is to be somewhat expected from an emergency clinic. Just to be seen costs $190, plus any additional costs from blood tests, etc. This is why pet insurance is so important to help owners manage the cost of their pet's health. I highly recommend Pets Best if you are looking for a plan. Thank you again, Animal Specialty Center! We appreciate the care you gave us worried, nervous, first-time puppy owners and our dog, too.
My 8yr old boxer was having trouble. Vomiting, lethargic. We took her to our normal vet hudson highlands to be examined. They told me they thought she had a blockage but didn't have the ultrasound needed so i was referred to ASC. There they ran tests including an ultrasound and said it was normal, and diagnosed her with possible lepto. As 2 days passed she became sicker, wouldnt eat, in pain.
So another sono was ordered. These results showed a blocked duct as well as an inlarged gallbladder. Surgery was performed. All went well, and than things turned. My poor baby needed a blood transfusion, a ton of meds, was bleeding internally and pooping black tar. Ultimately, the blood transfusion didnt take and she passed away from lack of oxygen to her brain. Had they diagnosed the original issue on the first day, my babygirl could of been saved.
I beleive they missed these HUGE stones that were blocking the bile duct. Stones of there size, DONT evolve in 2 days. Because of there neglect and blind eye, my girl passed.

We'd noticed some red flags on our Beagle for a few days and The Man took a Friday off to have her see her vet- mid morning at the Humane Society in 59th. The vet did preliminary tests and came back to tell Mr. Man, that Fudge needed overnight, medical care (none that Humane Society offers as they are a Clinic- not a Hospital). The Man just booked.
And the hunting began. While the Man was in transit and heading north, I was at work calling a few places to get some quotes in Westchester and some in Greenwich. I also did some Bronx Yelp searches and stumbled on a few locations but based on the pictures I saw, I was completely put off. In this case, Bronx was a Negative! Back to Westchester and all arrows pointed to the Animal Specialty Center in Yonkers.
Almost noon and still at work, I answered basic and health questions about my dog. At this point, all the Man needed to do is show up and have someone greet him since I pre-registered her. Arrival was easy and Fudge was promptly tended to by Valerie. I'm not gonna lie to you, pricing here, is definitely expensive and a freaking big pill to swallow- as my fellow Yelper Amanda detailed, but my maternal mode kicked in quick and I couldn't lollygag any longer as my Beagle needed immediate attention. ASC indicated that during her stay along with that expensive price tag, they would offer extended services as well as medications. Fudge was admitted safe and sound and according to Mr. Man, ASC is a well-kept pet care facility.
Very welcoming staff except for someone at the front desk, who seemed arrogant with his tone and The Man put a stop to that quick- after that, everything was fine. Everyone else, was very pleasant from Technicians to the Veterinarians. As soon as I left work and heading home, I called ASC to get a status on my Beagle. Sure enough, Valerie was compassionate and friendly over the phone, answered ALL my questions and assured me that Dr. Cazzolli would call me in the evening.
And that's exactly how it went down, she mentioned the ongoing care that ASC would provide during her stay. And yes, I'll admit, I'm between a pet owner and a pet parent and to some, it may be a drastic move to spend so much on your pet, but I want to hold on to Fudge for many more years to come and wanted the best care for her- for the several days she was there- and ASC proved it.

If you want to experience the worst care, the most money hungry system in the US then go to this hospital. Your pet is just a dollar sign to their failing business after many pet owners became save to the negligence of the partners desperate to pay for a new facility at your expense. They have teaching going on, and do not tell you the truth about anything. Do not go there, animal lovers this place is about one thing only $$$ which would be ok if the care was excellent but its not.

I wish I had done an internet search before going to Dr. Joseph and ASC in Yonkers NY. They broke every rule normally followed by veterinarians in the care of pets. Then, when my beloved pet died due to their negligence, they lied about it to save their licenses in NY. Now I find on the web other heartbroken pet owners who had the same experience as me. Please, do not bring your pet to these people. It will be the worst move you can make for your pet, and for you. If your veterinarian refers you to them, go get another vet!

My 8 month old kitten had to be admitted to a hospital after losing his ability to use his hind legs. My fiance and I stayed up for a week and a half straight, commuting to and from Manhattan Veterinary Specialists, and Manhattan Cat Specialists. Every test conceivable was performed on my kitten, from blood tests, to x-rays, urine analysis, he was seen by neurologists, top nutritionists, you name it.
My kitten stayed by my side when friends and family members thought I was going to die from an illness I'm still battling. He rubbed his cheek against mine when i cried, and slept on my chest when I was scared and hopeless. I was NOT going to accept the words of 7 separate veterinarians that every single test was "normal" and he was "healthy" after losing the ability to walk, use the litter box, and eat on his own! Dr. Joseph was kind, took the time to explain everything to us, patiently, and took into account that we were not doctors, but were so very eager to understand what was happening to our kitten.
He spent as much time as was needed to answer every question we had, through and through. Through a physical examination, that seemed to be superficial to the laymen eyes, but turned out to be a genius at work, he was able to give us more answers and optimism than anyone. We saw him yesterday.
Today, our cat is beginning to use his legs again. I'm convinced, that it is not only from his precise prescription/dosing of medicine, but also because of his positive, gentle nature, is the reason my cat is improving at the rate he is. As if this cake needed a cherry on top, he also gave us a 10% discount because we came from the city, which was only a 20 minute drive during rush hour.

We're heartbroken because of Dr. Richard Joseph and the Animal Specialty Center. They violated all the rules for safely performing an MRI, resulting in the death of our beloved dog, then lied about it to the authorities to save their skins and retain their veterinary licenses. It was the worst experience we've had in over 30 years of pet ownership.
