I used to work at Bellwood as a customer care specialist, so I had the pleasure of being coworkers with the staff. I left for a different job but dang.do I miss BW and wish I could go back. But I am not writing this as a previous employee but as a client. I use Dr. Nelson as my vet and I can't possibly tell you everything that makes her my favorite. Unfortunately, within 8 days of each other I lost not only my 9 year old pit to - what we guess was - undiagnosed brain, but I also had to let go of my 21 year old cat.
Not only did Dr. Nelson address my concerns about my pitties' thyroid - but she also served as an advocate when my dog was having cognitive issues. She was the ONLY vet that has taken my concerns fully into consideration with treatment plans and lab work. She treated my senior girls like her own. The respect she showed me as not only a co-worker but a client is something you don't find in people anymore.
And that respect tranfers to her patients as well. Dr. Nelson hears your concerns and she addresses them. There is no such thing as "water under the bridge" with her. To say Dr. Nelson was meant to be a vet is a complete understatement. And Dr. Lind. I was always intimidated by her when I worked there, but not because she was in any way standoffish, but because she is the definition of girl power.
When I had to put my 21 year old cat down, Dr. Lind was the doctor who did it because Dr. Nelson was out of town. The comfort and reassurance Dr. Lind gave me as I said goodbye only 8 days after losing my dog can't be put into words. I wasn't her normal client and Mooshy wasn't her patient. But the absolute love and respect she gave to Mooshy, and the sympathy and comfort she gave me, made me feel like she's known Mooshy her whole life. Vets like Dr. Lind and Dr. Nelson are gems to the industry where pet loss is an unfortunate definitive.
The staff at Bellwood isn't about getting your money. Each individual in there has shared stories of their favorite patients and clients and mourned for you and your pets days - and sometimes months after you have left the office. You and your pet aren't a dollar sign to the employees there. You and your pet are individuals that leave your mark on everyone.
I so dearly miss my Bellwood family and the favorite clients and patients I had the pleasure of interacting with every single day. Next time you are in their office and aren't getting in right on time, be patient. Because I, as a previous employee and first hand witness to the practice, can assure you they are giving the same love, care, patience, and undivided attention to someone else that they are about to give you and your pet. To my previous co-workers and now designated vet clinic, thank you so much for seeing US, the owners, and our pets as individuals.

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE This Vet, the few times I've had to bring my bff Enzo my pitty there he's always got the best doctors and the best treatment I could ask for. And they are great with working with me on paymeants as in plans or to work around how much cash ill have at the time but still make sure my pup gets all the help and Meds he needs. And my pup LOVES them all up there.
If I could I'd give them a billion star's! There very deserving of them wnd more. Will never take andy of my pets aka family to any other vet! Thank you all and my pup thanks you! XOXO Hannah Hartwell & Enzo

This is the only place in Rockford I will take my cats if I have the choice. All three of mine have been seeing Dr. Korpan for a few years now and she is nothing short of fantastic! I can be very anxious when it comes to the health of my pets because they're my family and it's hard when they can't actually tell us what's wrong. I've never once doubted the exam or advice that Dr. Korpan has given me, and my cats always end up feeling better!
She's knowledgeable, extremely thorough, and very good at explaining everything! More than that she truly cares, is very empathetic, and she wants to make sure your babies are feeling better. I recommend Bellwood and Dr. Korpan to every pet parent I know. I'm forever thankful that I found her for my cats. For anyone with cats looking for a new vet, here's what my three go through: one is diabetic which was found and promptly treated by Dr. Korpan. One has urinary issues and cystitis. One had to have some teeth extracted and it went perfectly.

I could not be happier with this place! I have taken my dog to see both Dr. Jallen and Dr. Korpan, and I have been very happy with the care she has received. The doctors always take their time to discuss treatment options and thoroughly answer my questions. I think my dog gets better medical care than I do!

I find it interesting there are negative reviews of this place in regard to the 25$ fee to book an appt that IS RETURNED TO YOU upon your service. If you can't afford to take care of your pet, don't have one. I nearly didn't come to this gem of a place because of the low rated reviews, but upon further inspection it's just broke people complaining. They treated my bearded dragon wonderfully, they were kind to me, and I was in and out in less than half an hour.

I live out of town due to the military but have taken my cat here before while visiting family, and called to inquire about a medication. Said medication has been out of stock online, where I normally buy it, for weeks and I'm running out while traveling and can't have it shipped until I get home. It's been even more difficult since I moved this year and no longer live in the state the medication was prescribed in.
In all seriousness, I'm just trying to take care of my cat because he needs this medication daily. It's one thing if the woman I spoke to had said something like, "no, I'm sorry but we can't help you, " but I was told, "well, we haven't seen your cat in 4 years." Well, that's not by choice. I'm not a negligent owner, and I don't go to any other local vets; I move states every 2-3 years because of the military and am only here a few weeks a year.
No sense in arguing, so I didn't explain myself further, but the tone of the woman I spoke to was unnecessarily rude. I had good experiences here in the past, but am disappointed in the lack of compassion.

Words alone can't express how grateful I am for Bellwood Animal Hospital. Last week my cat collapsed and was unable to move and was having trouble breathing. After calling several vets in the area, I called Bellwood and they were able to see my cat. As soon as I arrived, I called and came out quickly and took my cat. within minutes, the doctor came out and told me what they were doing for him.
While the doctor was talking with me, the tech came out saying that he was slipping away and I and the doctor needed to come. They allowed me to say goodbye while administrating the medicine. Additionally, they gave me a private room afterwards. I was taking him home. They made me a paw print memorable and wrapped him carefully and lovingly. Thank you for being so caring and helping in a time of need when no else could.

My 4 yr old dog Spot was going thru a cycle of seizures that both the emergency vet and Dr Lind had their doubts whether or not Spot would survive. I told them if they couldn’t then we would have to put him to sleep. They had a hard time breaking the cycle of seizures. Dr. Lind and her great staff broke the cycle. They gotten him to the point where he was awake and laying on his belly! (Spot couldn’t even walk for 3 days- he had to be carried out from the emergency vet and Dr Lind’s) 4th day I got to bring him home and the next morning he was standing up!
Then the next day he was walking around! Unbelievable! Spot is pretty much back to his normal self - there is might be some brain damage, and it has affected his eye sight. He had to be retrained to go outside (only took a couple of days) and he occasionally bumps into things but each day he gets better and better! THANK YOU Dr Lind and staff for saving my dog!!

The love and care they have for all kinds of animals, not just the normal dogs and cats, but also to the out of the norm like the loving care they gave to my daughter's hedgehog. The reception ladies were wonderful "a 10" and Dr. Spoo I'll rate a 10+++. very knowledgeable in exotic animals and she knows what's best for the little critters. couldn't give a higher praise to her and the other staff.

I would like to say thank you to the staff at bellwood for seeing my mom's dog thos am. I have worked for a local clinic for 19years as a cvt. And moved to Minnesota. 4 years ago. My moms dog was having severe neck pain and called the clinic I worked at and was told they could not see her until next week(6 days away for a severely painful dog). I found this absolutely unacceptable.
And that is where you fine folks step in. Thank you for seeing her that following am. And thank you for caring when they wouldn't. I would highly recommend you guys to anybody!!!

I had gone to Bellwood Animal Hospital just to get a second opinion on my dog because I didn't feel confident with what my old vet's course of action was to treat his injuries. When I arrived there I was greeted by a pleasant receptionist and my dog was seen by Dr Spoo. She was so knowledgeable and spoke with confidence about how she would like treat my dogs injuries.
She was spot on when I was told what to expect in the future with my dog's injuries. Dr Spoo gave my dog the greatest and most compassionate care. I will never be able to express how thrilled I was with the care of my dog. All the staff members were great also. My little Max has a new vet!
