Animal Medical Clinics of Rockford is owned and operated by Dr. James Buhl and Dr. Alicia Guarino. The practice was founded by Dr. Cary Thompson in 1987. Dr. David Tanaglia joined the Clinic about one year later and became Dr. Thompson's first partner. Under their guidance the Clinic grew to four separate locations.
Early Drop-off Service 8 a.m. If dropping off for a medical treatment, client will need to allow the time to visit with either a doctor or technician and go over the problems and treatments being preformed. All air-driven instruments have expanded our capabilities to perform cleaning, and polishing.
Surgical services and facilities include: fully trained veterinary and technical staff, to ensure the safest, most efficient, state-of-the-art procedures for your pet; specifically designed for aseptic surgery featuring ISOfluorane anesthesia, ECG, Pulse oximetry, respiratory monitors, patient circulating warming blankets and temperature monitoring.
Our appointment book is computerized which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come to the hospital immediately.

I've been taking both of my dogs here for years, which is why I'm so disappointed & irate by the situation which is causing me to change vets. **Before I continue, I should add that Dr. Kris & Dr. Alecia are kind doctors who have been great when my dogs needed care. ** The largest issue I have with this clinic is Dr. Mike. (unfortunately unless you'd like to book pretty far out you often don't get to choose who you see).
Not only is he cold & uncaring to a suffering dog, he dismissed evidence because it didn't not suit his hypothesis. When I came in with my dog; I listed all of his symptoms in email& attached a video file to help display my description. Not only did they jump straight to epilepsy (which medically is only diagnosed when no other options fit) but he ignored my concerns about the obvious non-epilepsy signs (stuffy nose, head tilt.) I asked Dr Mike about the potential of a vestibular issue & it was dismissed for the simple reason that his ears were clean.
His only idea was to see a neurologist, suggesting the outdated information of buffalo Grove who no longer had a neurologist on staff. After weeks of suffering & then a night of cluster seizures we rushed our dog to the ER where we finally began to get some answers. Lo and behold? It was a vestibular issue all along. HE COULD HAVE BEGUN TREATMENT WEEKS AGO. if not for Dr Mike & his pride.

We took our puggle Ivy here from the time she was a puppy all the way to the end. Dr. Chris was her doctor almost the whole time except for a couple appointments here and there. For 12 years they were always there to answer any questions and were very helpful when I needed it. There were a couple times where it was hard to get in but Dr Chris made time to see Ivy which meant a lot to us.
Thank you so much for all the dedication you put forward in taking care of Ivy all the way through to the end. It means so much when you have a staff that cares about a pet just as much as you do/did. We could never thank you all enough.

We have been loyal patrons for years and absolutely love Dr. Kris, but the latest stunt this clinic has pulled in addition to the decline in patient service has pushed us to seeking a new vet. PAY CLOSE ATTENTION IF YOU ARE A CURRENT CUSTOMER. We received an email stating that they will no longer cooperate with 3rd party pharmacies due to bs reasons.
They are steering patients, sometimes without the patients being properly informed, to a 3rd party pharmacy they call "their own." If you refuse to buy from them, you have to go in and pick up the written rx in person which is an inconvenience used to push you into conformity. I understand there aren't as many laws and regulations in the veterinary world, but this is illegal in the legitimate medical field. So, while it may be legal in the veterinary world, it is at the very least unethical. We are deeply saddened to be pushed to this point because, like I said before, Dr. Kris is amazing with our dogs, but we won't support this kind of behavior.

We meet dr. Alicia at an emergency visit, she was so kind and caring and understanding, she didn't make us feel bad about the situation that had happened, and she gave us tons of helpful advice something I had not ever experienced in the past. We have fully switched over to the entire clinic now for all of our animals and every time I have to call or pick up every single person in the staff gives the best customer service I've ever had!
