We are a veterinary practice specializing in ophthalmology. Dr. Daniel Brown and Dr. Matthew Chandler are Board Certified Veterinary Ophthalmologists through the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmology (ACVO). They and their staff are committed to providing compassionate, quality, state of the art ocular care for your pet. Your veterinarian will refer you to see us whenever he/she feels your pet would benefit from evaluation and treatment by a specialist.
Services
Animal Eye Clinic is equipped to provide a full range of veterinary ophthalmic diagnostics, therapeutics and surgical services including cataract extraction by phacoemulsification with intraocular lens (IOL) replacement, reconstruction surgery, cornea repair, glaucoma procedures, gonioscopy, cryosurgery, laser surgery and intraocular prosthesis.
The most common cause of cataracts in dogs and cats is an inherited defect in the lens. In addition, cataracts may develop following an eye injury, inflammation in the eye or a systemic disease such as diabetes. Cataract removal is a very delicate surgical procedure. A complete examination of the eyes is necessary to determine if a pet is a good surgical candidate, Typically an electroretinogram (ERG) is required to test retinal function of the eye, as well as an ocular ultrasound. Also important is the pet's general health.

Dr. Brown and his staff are amazing. Although there are new procedures in place due to COVID-19, Dr. Brown still came out to my car to talk to me in person to explain my dogs surgery procedure and address any concerns or questions I had. In addition, after surgery he personally came out to give me an update. Most places are only talking to you over the phone, but this staff is going above and beyond to take care of your pet and to help minimize any fear you have about possible surgery for your pet. I highly recommend this location and Dr. Brown.

We LOVE LOVE LOVE this practice! We are so grateful for the care we have received here from Dr. Brown and his staff. We were referred here by our primary vet to diagnose and care for our kitten's eye issues. They are so extremely professional, courteous, punctual, knowledgeable, and just an all-around outstanding practice. Dr. Brown is persistent and wants to get to the bottom of the issue in order to get answers and improve the animal's quality of life.
He is so patient and willing to answer any questions and explain things without making you feel rushed or confused. Both Kelly and Van have also been wonderful in taking care of our girl and they are both kind, friendly, patient, and very knowledgeable as well. They listen and answer all our questions and address our concerns. The best part is you can tell the staff really and truly enjoys their job and are meant to be in this profession helping animals.
We can't praise and thank them enough. If more doctors offices (for humans especially) were run like this practice, the medical field would be a much, much better place! Do not hesitate to take your pets here!

I was referred to Animal Eye Clinic to a specialist by my local veterinarian. I drove a couple of hours to get there. The staff was very helpful and asked all the right questions. Dr. Brown was a blessing. He even called me to explain his findings and the procedure needed. Dr. Brown is a very passionate individual with animals. I highly recommend anyone this place if your pet is having some type of eye problem.

Animal Eye Clinic is extraordinary. Our dog is incredibly weary of new people, let alone strangers who are poking and prodding at him at a vets office. He has to be sedated at our general vets office for routine checkups because he becomes so combative he's impossible to handle. The staff at Animal Eye Clinic are miracle workers and handled our dog perfectly without sedation for his consultation visit.
Our dogs enucleation surgery was a major success and we cannot thank Van and Dr. Brown enough for handling our dog so well and for handling everything overall with the upmost professionalism.

Fergus is a very young rescue who was blind in both eyes. Dr. Brown diagnosed him and said that one eye could be fixed so Fergus could see. The surgery was successful and Dr. Brown and his team were amazing. Fergus was cared for in a gentle and loving way and the follow up to his surgery was wonderful. Cannot recommend this group enough. Wonderful animal loving clinic.

Dr. Daniel Brown and his wonderful staff at The Animal Eye Clinic in Orange Park have done an amazing job treating our cat Elvis. The evidence of his gift as a practitioner is his ability to treat his fur patients. So far we have been able to treat her without needing surgery. We have another follow up appointment in two weeks. Dr. Brown is a compassionate person and gifted practitioner.
It is clear he leads a team of like minded professionals he trusts and mentors because the staff are just as great. If your pet has any eye problems, don't hesitate to take them to The Vet Eye Clinic. It is more affordable than you would think and they accept care credit.

Allow me to sound like a broken record but. Dr. Brown and his techs are beyond words. Not enough adjectives on the planet to describe how outstanding they are. They did two things really well: handled my dog with such confidence, love and care, and even more impressive is how well they kept me calm and at ease. They fixed my Lucky's eyeball up with the quickness and he has recovered so well. I wish this same group was a regular vet too. Would not think twice to go anywhere else. Keep up the great work.
