Dogs and cats may suffer from heart and lung ailments; sometimes these diseases occur late in life and other times they are congenital abnormalities. A veterinary cardiologist can diagnose and treat diseases of the cardiovascular system, which include the heart (valves, muscle, and electrical conduction system) and blood vessels (veins & arteries), that can create secondary issues in the lungs. In treatment, cardiologists use both human and veterinary licensed medications, as well as nutraceutical and nutritional support.
The critical care team at WestVet is committed to providing advanced monitoring and treatment for pets requiring in-depth care for serious, life-threatening conditions. Our expert team works closely with your family veterinarian, as well as our in-house specialty services, in developing the best possible treatment plan for your pet.

Thank you so much for once AGAIN going out of your way to help us with CoCo's medication needs. I can't ever adequately convey just how much I appreciate you. You ARE the best! I would recommend West Vet 100 times over to anyone looking for the absolute best emergency care and/or treatment for critical or terminal illness of your beloved pet. Dr O'Neil, Katy and the Internal Medicine team are second to none and have taken such good care of our cat, CoCo, in his battle with cancer.

Even thru the inconveniences posed by Covid, they never missed a beat, with round-the-clock care available 24/7/365. They ARE expensive, tho. much more so than your average family vet. but you get what you pay for. That's not meant to downplay or lessen the importance of the great family vets out there, doing their best to care for our furry loved ones. However, West Vet has all the latest in technology and equipment, along with specialists in numerous fields. oncology, radiology, internal medicine, dermatology and more. I'm in no way suggesting you switch from your family vet to West Vet. Just be reassured that if you're in Idaho and find your family pet needs emergency care, you have an awesome trusted place to go.

I took my dog here for acute respiratory distress while hundreds of miles away from home, on the road, and received exceptional care from Drs. Brandt, Dr Culver, Dr Jason Ardnst, and Dr Stanford. Other staff, including Dakota, Olivia, Mac, Mindy, Stephanie, and others who I am sure I am forgetting, were very kind and helpful. We are always grateful to them.

My dog who has never been away from me or been in a veterinary facility, remained in the ICU for days and it was a hugely traumatic event. Everyday there were new people and we had to reexplain everything each day to each one. Last and in every way the least, are three members who have no place in any kind of medicine or job for that matter because they take it out on clients.

A "hospital administrator" (who used to a technician) only interaction with us was to not introduce herself or ask us what we needed, but to bring us our dogs vital medications in a bag ( that would actually be needed) and tell us to leave without knowing the circumstances or laws, a "vet" named Nikki Licht who over sedated our dog and would leave any conversations throwing her hands up saying " we are done" all while cutting us off mid sentence, ignoring our questions, and posing different questions to exert her importance - this happened on three occasions and then she proceeded to fill a dog's clinical record with negative personal comments!

She is a belligerent, rude, clearly unhappy staff who abuses the fact that this 24/7 emergency facility is hundreds of miles away from other ones, and a technician named Alice who told us that we don't need to come in if our dog is showing signs of hypoxia because "having a blue tinge is the new norm" and that "her hospital administrator had an issue with us so we should not come in for a CLINICAL emergency until she checks in with her", thereafter quickly said " we never refuse service" ( while on site they used the same reason to keep us paying $1000 plus a day and not even let us visit our dog for days for even a second saying " a slight blue is concerning").

Then she proceeded to put us on speaker to display our emotions of worry and shock for everyone to hear. She also tried to find out whom we had complained to about our experience. The money is not the issue but the horrifying way in which medical ethics are lost to prejudices, biases, and hate cannot be ignored. Some gossiping without verifying facts about clients who look different that bleeds into compromised clinical care.

We tried hard to ignore these few rude people by looking at the other amazing staff but the malice kept showing in actions days after. Other reviews mention rude and obnoxious and certainly these 3 staff were those. We will be filing complaints with multiple agencies and have our attorney resolve these issues affecting clinical care.

I had to take my dog Moose here because she had some blood in her vomit. From the moment I arrived the staff was very friendly and professional. Although I was there for several hours, and there seemed to be delays (emergency situations always come first), the process was smooth and I was very satisfied my experience. Dr Harris' diagnosis was spot on (parasites, confirmed by a fecal test for Moose at my vet's clinic in Star), and she was very polite and patient as we spoke about Moose, and my past experiences with my pets and visiting emergency vet hospitals.

I also watched the staffs interaction with other sick pets and their parents: very caring, very professional, and all were made to feel that their pets welfare and comfort was the hospital's priority. I hope I don't have a reason to return anytime soon with one of my dogs. However, my experience here comforted me in a way that will definitely have a calming effect should I have to return in the future with another doggie emergency. Cheers!

I cannot say enough about the level of care we received at West Vet. Our 15 month old lab was very sick and was treated by the staff with the absolute upmost care. His case was slightly unique in that no one knew exactly what was going on with him or what was causing his seizures and they walked me through each of their steps and findings and what to expect with the testing he would go through.

They never rushed me off the phone, I was always able to get my questions answered and they kept me up to date continually for the 4 days he was hospitalized. I truly believe he would have died had we not taken him here for care. I cannot recommend this clinic enough and will recommend them to anyone who may need a specialty clinic to take their pets to.

Only go to this place if its your only option. If someone has another option for an emergency vet, please let me know. I want to avoid this place if at all possible. The story: I called animal poison control and they told me to get to the vet immediately to induce vomiting. Front desk said they had a room open and ready for when I got there. When I arrived I had to fill out paperwork then wait another 20 minutes before they would see my dog.

No other patients are there but me. Medical emergency is happening. Why did I have to wait? They sat me in a waiting area and I couldn't go back with my dog. Not the biggest thing, but, again, she was just vomiting. Not too long after that, I get a call from one of the employees asking about the case. Sounded like she meant to call poison control.

When she realized her mistake, she hung up and I heard laughter in the next room. No apology, no explication. I was told the doc would be in shortly after I got sat down, but absolutely no one told me what was going on or what they were doing. I had to call the front desk to figure all that out. When she was done puking (a little over 30 minutes later) another employee came in and the first thing she asked was what my budget was. (?Anything to save my dog?) Discussion of treatment always comes first.

Money shouldn't be a topic brought up like that by any kind of medical provider. I looked her dead in the face and said I couldn't even afford that visit. After that I was suggested the credit card they had on display. Money was the furthest thing from my mind when I walked in there, and it should be the same on the vets end. Leave all that to the front desk.

Absolutely disgusting. As a result of that encounter, I have high doubts my dog got proper and thorough treatment. I'm waiting on a second blood test from another vet. Shes fine as of right now, but just because she's alive doesn't mean theres no issue. If I acted the way any one of them did when I worked customer service, my manager would have ripped me a new one. TLDR, the anxiety I've gotten from their lack of compassion in a stressful situation makes me never want to go back there. For being the only 24/7 vet, I really hope something changes.

I was happily surprised with our experience here! My 7 month old puppy is a sock vacuum. He has had an intestinal blockage in the past, and we took him to be treated at All Valley in that case. They were fine. Today, I had a hunch he had another blockage. I called our normal vet and they recommended West Vet so we gave them a shot, and I'm glad we did!

I called on the way there and they got me all signed in over the phone so they could take him straight back when I arrived. They followed a very similar treatment plan to what All Valley did, except it was HALF the cost and a lot more efficient. They called to update me about every 45 minutes or so, and everyone I spoke to was great and I could tell they genuinely cared for my pup. Crossing my fingers we won't be needing emergency care again, but if we do, this is definitely where we're going. Thank you for taking care of Murph!

Such a positive experience here! I mean, it's never fun to have to run to an emergency vet, but this was such a quick and painless visit with super nice staff (on the phone and the tech who came out to get our dog) that I'm shocked it was so nice and fast. Dog was injured at the dog park in Caldwell at 2pm, local vet recommended WestVet. We had an appointment for something in Caldwell at 3:30 and knew it would be tight.

We got to WestVet, parked and called the number advertised. The person answering was nice and seemed concerned, took our information and said they'd be out in 5-10 minutes to get our dog. (I know curbside is zero fun but it is what it is right now.) Tech was out in 5 minutes, looked at her paw and said it wouldn't take long at all. Sure enough, he was back out with her in less than 15 minutes.

He said she'd knocked her own claw off once inside getting on the table (she'd injured her dew claw), so they cleaned her up, bandaged the lower leg, gave her an e-collar and that was it. We didn't even get charged! (Also made it back to Caldwell by 3:45 for our appointment!)

Let me save you 8 hours and $500. Go sit in your car. Have somebody walk up and say we can't find anything wrong with your dog so maybe go see your normal vet Monday. Then mail yourself $500. It's happened all 3 times I've gone or somebody I know and the "normal vet" has found a serious problem all three times. You are a scam west vet

I took my Caprica to this facility for surgery, as a referral from my vet here in Utah. They are professional, thorough, but above all compassionate. I got regular updates and photos about my fur baby and it truly put me at ease to know that they treated her as I would. Five stars for the entire staff!

Always such a great experience. Staff are so caring, informative and efficient. Our tater tot has been seeing Dr Breaux for the last few years for Glaucoma and she has been so amazing. Today he is having his eye removed and even though it is probably more traumatic for us than Tater Tot, we know he is in the absolute best hands.

24 hour animal hospitals are rare in Boise, which surprised me when I first moved to town. Yes, the wait times can be long, but the customer service and care for the animal, is first class. They are upfront about all prices prior to performing any exams, and communicate regularly once approved. The trust I have for this establishment is bar none. Hopefully I don't have to visit them again soon, but if something goes wrong with my dog, I know where he will receive great care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Our dog started vomiting blood at 6pm on a Saturday. Of coarse we panicked and raced him to West Vet. I truly believe the DR was very knowledgeable and offered great options for our pup. My complain is on the time frames and communication. Now let me say I understand emergencies happen and will gladly wait for someone else who is having an urgent situation.

They still are under COVID restrictions and I believe this is the start of the issue. We arrived at 6:10 on Saturday, someone came out for our pup within 20 minutes and about another 20 minutes they let us know next steps. I left the property with approval from them since they did not know how long the test would take and told them call me asap and I'll be back.

After I had to call them to get an update 2ish hours later, the DR calls me with his results. She said they would give him fluids and he would be ready for pickup. I headed back over. I arrived at 9:31pm, my dog did not walk out of their office till 11:30. They said there were emergencies but the woman I originally talked to said she would call me in 15 and our dog would be walking out.

When I had to call back in after an hour of waiting they said an emergency came in. Well it's COVID regulated so I watched as only ONE car pulled in after me and he waited in his car for awhile for help to come out. If it was an emergency why wasn't he helped sooner and where the heck is my dog? Fast forward to the day after, so today. They needed to see him again to do a follow up scan.

We arrived 12 hours later like they requested, they took him back promptly and said they would call me right away to let me know if I should stay or leave. Got the call and they said to go, it will take a bit of time. We went to lunch, and as we weee finished I reached out to see if he was almost done. They said his scan was done just needed to get the DR to look at them.

So we went back. DR calls me at 1:30 says all is well to monitor him and our dog will be out right away, she was going to have someone bring him out. 1 hour later, never heard from them, called them and said what's going on. They said I could pay but it looks like the DR never signed his dismissal papers before going into surgery so they are waiting for the doctor to finish up and sign them. WHAT THE HECK?!

How do you forget to sign his dismissal papers. So 1.5 going by since I talk to the doctor, everything is paid in literally just waiting on my dog. I then text them because my blood is boiling and they say we will have someone bring him out now and if we need something from you we will call. WHY COULD YOU DO THAT 1.5 hours AGO! My dog spent at least 4 hours in their care for no reason and I spent it in the parking lot waiting for him. I get things happen but two days in a row is just a lack of consideration for someone else time. Not to mention the amount we paid for lack of communication is upsetting.

Our experience with WestVet was absolutely amazing. We were so scared and worried when we suddenly found our dog could not walk or put weight in his hind legs. The staff immediately took him into their care and put our minds at ease by explaining everything thoroughly. The doctor spent 30 minutes on the phone with us prior to his surgery explaining absolutely everything in detail and answering our questions.

We were incredibly impressed. The staff and the whole system at WestVet is very streamlined and organized, they over communicate and are always available for questions. To us it felt like it ran like a fine-tuned machine from checkin to discharge. Our dog is now walking again and back to his normal life after disc herniation surgery on two vertebrae. We are beyond happy with the care he received at WestVet and highly, highly recommend them!

Even though this is an emergency vet center, they have shown the most compassion for my dogs than my family vet. If I could, I would choose them as my regular vet facility. Recently I had to put my dog down at their facility. The doctor who completed the procedure assured me that my decision wasn't the incorrect one due to my girls condition. I appreciated her advising, and I know the procedure effected her as I heard her crying as she left the room. I know they cost more, but I'm willing to spend more for their guidance and compassion.

Warning! WestVet caused major damage to one of my dogs while thier billing department sorted out how much more to charge me when I already paid them $3000 and my dog was still in the waiting area. They said they were going to work on her immediately and called me 4 hours later to ask for $700 more because they charged me wrong for a procedure that was already double the price of anywhere else. When I questioned their judgement, they denied my dog care. I had to run across town so a different vet could save her life.

On New Year's Day had to take my cat in for what I thought was an emergency. The staff handled my concerns with compassion and professionalism. Due to the holiday, they were extremely busy; but, they set my expectations up front so that I wouldn't worry. I appreciate how quickly they were able to examine, diagnose, and treat my cat. My furry friend is doing fine now. :

I honestly had a really positive experience. The doctors, technicians, and receptionists are all attentive and are doing their best under the circumstances. Thank you for making sure my kitty was taken care of. I appreciate the time, blood, sweat, tears, & everything else you all put into your work here. I know it's not easy!

I adopted a kitten at about 8 weeks of age. She had an upper respiratory infection so off to the vet we went. We treated her with antibiotics and that worked for a couple days. She seemed to swallow hard and. was so tiny. Took her back to the vet and they were suspicious of a polyp above her soft pallet so they sedated her to look in her mouth and she was so swollen they couldn't see much but they did squeeze out a bunch of snot.

They gave her a steroid shot and a shot of antibiotics. Sent the snot off for a culture and when the results came back we started her on new antibiotics. This poor little girl never gained any weight and had to hang her head over the edge of anything she was lying.

A 6 hour wait for my dog to not even be seen. NO fluids or anything were given. I understand that other dogs have come in that have "more urgent needs, " but my dog couldn't even keep water down for over 72 hours. So we waited for 6 hours with no fluids, no IV, but charged for a parvo test. Please, someone start another ER because one ER vet for a massive area is not only dangerous but allows for negligence. Do not go here. Spend your money and drive to Utah to be seen by people who actually care. I repeat, do not go here. Zero stars.

Vet doctor was very sincere and compassionate when he told me that my cat had a disease that was terminal. Dr. Sanford understood our grief and asked us what the next step will be to put her down. She was 7 months old and a beautiful Himalayan and had FIP.

Nobody wants to end up at a place like this with their pet especially late at night during a holiday weekend. I am very grateful to have a place like WestVet available 24/7 for unexpected emergencies. They allowed me to peacefully say goodbye to my furbaby with respect and dignity at 4am Thanksgiving weekend. Everyone from phone reception, techs and vets were very kind and understanding. I hope I don't have to return but I'm glad to know they're ready.

West Vet. Where to begin. So back when they first opened, they were incredible. Years have gone by and they are no owned by some big corporation or something and it shows. I took my last Yorkie here when his health issues first started. They give great service, but it is SO. EXPENSIVE! They literally kick you when you're down. I know it's an emergency vet and they're always going to cost more, but WOW! Taking Frankie there reminded me of something like taking a car to a mechanic who robs you blind. Makes up more problems than there are just to make money.

Of course I NEVER saw Frankie as a car or just an object, he was literally my heart and my soul. We were soulmates. I had no choice but to take him here. Back when I took him, covid nonsense has been going on for awhile. They made us wait in the car. Everyone who had a sick or dying baby in that hospital were forced to sit outside (in the heat) while their poor kid was scared and alone inside.

I drive by here a lot and THEY ARE STILL MAKING PEOPLE SIT IN THEIR CARS! That's unbelievably uncalled for and UNBELIEVABLY CRUEL! This place used to show compassion.the higher ups no longer do. I CANNOT BELIEVE they still make people wait outside. It's selfish and they know damn well they could EASILY allow people back in. Whatever you do, TRY to take your dog, cat, or whatever pet you have, to your regular vet or at least a place that has compassion and isn't selfish. Again, yes, they get the job done here, but at a huge cost and also with you far away from your kid(s). It's heartbreaking.

I drove by the other day and saw so many people sitting in their cars and my heart went out to them because I don't want to be in the position again. If they have it their way, they'll keep this ridiculous covid "protocol" or whatever they call it, in place.permanently. I wish they never sold to whoever they did. I know the help probably hates when they have to say "no, you're not allowed in the building" as people cry their eyes out.

I was one of those people. I gave it 3 stars because of the service they provided to Frankie. I'm being generous. I still think they charged me way more than they should have or needed to. For GODS SAKES LET PEOPLE BACK INTO THE FACILITY! Right now, that's my biggest complaint. The staff that came and took Frankie from me from the truck were all very nice people.

When I picked him up the first time, 2 days later, they were just as nice and very sweet with Frankie. I can't remember her name, but that was the only refreshing part of my experiences with them. That's it. Not sure what else to say except again LET PEOPLE BACK IN THE FACILITY! Our dogs/pets are terrified to begin with going there very sick.

Why torture them more by not letting their mom and dads in! AND it's so cruel to us humans as well. Pets thrive when they are with us. I wonder how many have felt abandoned when they don't see their humans for a few days. Ugh. Makes me so mad, so sad. Ok, that's all. Thanks for reading, Yelpers

I am surprised there are people that give this place bad reviews! I just called here to talk through what was going on with my dog, and I had a very reassuring and kind conversation with a gentleman there. The big reason for 5 stars though, is that a couple years ago I had made an appointment for my elderly dog with advanced kidney disease to be put down at home, but he couldn't make it through the night.

I knew it was time to say goodbye, and the only place that was open was West Vet. We were treated with empathy and kindness, from the moment we walked in, to the time I was sent his ashes and paw print. I wasn't able to write a review at that time, but I'm glad I am now. 5 stars!

My family paid this place just under $10k to try to remedy the aftermath of the ProHeart12 vaccine that took a toll on our beloved dog. He spent close to a week here and received numerous transfusions to help combat his loss of blood due to spontaneous bleeding in his GI tract. WestVet was able to get the bleeding under control, he was released by them after 6 days with a clear blood test and normal platelet levels. Sadly, within 2 days of being released he was not back to his normal self and refused to eat or drink.

We took him back in and for another quoted $3k we could keep him there a few more days for them to try to figure out what the issue was. At this point we knew our dog was ready to die- he kept going off on his own to be alone despite being too weak to really move. Our whole family strongly feels that this company would continue to purge us for all our worth.

Most of the staff seemed very transactional and eager to drain people dry. Ultimately, we ended up having to euthanize him because our dog was at his limit with being there and being miserable. What is the most messed up was that we were waiting in the room and had accepted that it was his time when an employee came in and tried to encourage us to keep paying them to try to figure out what was wrong.

After we finally picked up the courage to press the call button to have the doctor come in to administer the euthanasia drugs, we waited an additional 20 minutes. The only reason we are giving 2 stars is due to Dr. Ochoa who was great at communicating.

We called ahead of time to see about an appt to see the ophthalmology department. They dont take appts but rather go through ER. They quoted a price and without our authorization or request sent direct to the. Eye doctor. The vet bill was upwards of $500 just to look at his eyes and say " yep looks like needs eye wash/ meds." You'd better off taking a wad of cash and burning it on the backyard vs going to this vet.

All they care about is money and not your pet. We asked for a discount since they double charged exam fees and she didn't care. I'm not complaining over $100 but $500 just to look at my pet and double charging exam fees and not even examine the whole pet. Taking his temp was $140! Beware! You will be ripped off. The customer service is terrible!

I've (unfortunately) had need to bring four of my cats here for a variety of reasons. One was simple and only required a cone, two required meds, and prescriptions to come home, and the last needed to be hospitalized for a few days. I have nothing but positive things to say about WestVet. In these crazy Covid-19 times, would I prefer to be inside with my pet, and speaking with the staff face to face? Absolutely.

I also understand that emergency Veterinary medicine is pure chaos on the best day. I understand the need for the staff to be safe and healthy, and I appreciate all their efforts to communicate clearly about the status of my dear kitty while we wait in the parking lot. Everyone I've interacted with from the receptionists to the techs to the doctors have all been kind, competent, and caring. While I hope I don't have need to bring any of my fur babies here in the future, if the need arises, I will knowing WestVet provides excellent care.

We had to take our dog here for an overnight emergency following a diaper eating incident. Everyone was kind, compassionate and took the time to help us understand all of our options for treatment and the prices & risks for each. They were constantly thinking of our budget and giving us options along the way which was so very appreciated and help me know that they truly care. It was an exceptionally busy night when we went, yet they still checked in with us consistently and overall we're very quick for treatment.

Besides the surgeons, the staff are incompetent. Both times I've picked my dog up from there post surgery, her narcotic meds have been forgotten. I was accused of lying about receiving my dogs narcs the first time I picked her up until the supposed only "person with the key" finally went and checked the safe in which they were found! No remorse on. their part.

I thinks it's ridiculous that I've spent around 7-8k between two non emergent surgeries for my dog and I've never even got to meet the surgeon. This vet is taking covid more serious than an actual hospital. Their complete lack of respect and care once you dole out the money to them is absolutely disheartening. It's unfortunate that West Vet is the only emergency care/specialty center available locally.

I had to take my pup in at 1am in the morning and everyone there were exceptional. The Doctor called me to let me know my options and was so nice to let me 3 way call my mom and repeat everything to her, then. gave me time to think about what I needed to do. He was completely honest with me. I could feel the pain in his voice when he was telling me my options, no sugar coating just plain simple explanations.

I made the dreaded decision to put my lil buddy to sleep. They took me to a private room and brought him in wrapped in a warm blanket and let me sit with him until I was ready for them to come get him. I had him cremated and his ashes came in a beautiful wood box with Rocky's name on it and a casting of his paw print. I wasn't expecting the paw print but absolutely love it. Thank you so much for how you treated him in his final hours. They even sent me a sympathy card signed by everyone, even the Dr.

If I could give WestVet 100 stars, I would! My dog was admitted after eating grapes. The process was very long and tedious, but everyone at West Vet answered my questions, gave me time to discuss things with my family, and overall saved my dog. I even received pictures of him since we did have to be away for 24 hours. Was it expensive? Yes, but worth every dime.

We actually received a refund for being released early, and everyone from the front desk to the nurses and doctors will forever be my hero's. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Poncho says he loves you all! He says that especially to Stephanie and Heather!

We have been to WestVet many times between our three dogs and had a good experience each time. This last time we had to say goodbye to one of our pups. Dr. Pearson is invaluable. I wish we had the chance to. meet under better circumstances but I will always remember her kindness and honesty. We didn't expect that our sweet Doug wouldn't be coming home with us but she was so compassionate with us in explaining what was happening.

I don't think I could've faced saying goodbye as well as I did without her. Everyone at WestVet treated us as if we were lifelong friends and we felt nothing but love and compassion from the staff and vets there. I hope we never have another emergency again but we will always go to WestVet.

Yesterday was a whirlwind of events with my dog being in such critical need of medical care. I was told my baby needed a blood transfusion and was in such critical care she needed several days at the hospital at $2000 dollars for the first 24 and $1000 a each day after. I explained I could not afford the thousands of dollars they said would take to. get my baby back to health and had asked if there was another budget friendly place that could help us and I was told no.

The dr said the best thing would be to put her down. I made that awful decision in a emotional haze. Today I'm angry, sad mad and confused of what just happened yesterday. I should have considered giving her another day and calling around. I'm considering reporting this corporation to the better business bureaus as this place was a money trap set up for desperate pet owners.

DO NOT BRING YOUR ANIMALS HERE! For specialist work, reach out to Granite Vet Specialists in Utah. They are a fraction of the cost (commute from Idaho included) and are not out to give you the runaround. I have had 3 people express there displeasure with West Vet and my own experience has been awful. This place is a money stealing hoax. They know they have the states only board specialist and take advantage of it.

I have been told 3 different situations regarding other folks visit at WestVet and all were surprisingly $6k costs and the dog ended up passing very shortly there after. 2 leg amputated, 1 leg amputated, 1 dog put on oxygen, and one dog terminally ill. Westvet got their magic $6k number and dog lost quality of life immediately after leaving. These are not ethical people. Go elsewhere!

Even though it cost a lot of money to get my cat, Freya, fixed up after a traumatic incident, I feel like this is the only vet I can trust with surgeries and emergency situations. My cat had a hernia and I had her checked at a different vet. They diagnosed it as an inguinal hernia and said it would be $900. I wouldn't have forgiven myself if I had gone to a cheaper vet and something went wrong, so I went to West Vet for a second opinion.

They found that it was a body wall hernia and their explanations much more helpful. It did cost $3600 and I am in debt now, but I have my baby and I know a year from now I'll be glad I made the decision to get specialist advice instead of going with a place that didn't even diagnose the hernia correctly.

It's difficult to give a good review for WestVet. I think the care was ok, never saw the vet face to face. Talked with her once over the phone with the plan of care and my dog survived her illness, so I guess it was ok. The staff was professional, caring and friendly. The one major issue I have which is enough to make me NEVER return is their covid policy.

We were told it would be approx 2 hr wait in the car in 100 degree weather. We were ok with that, but when it was all said and done we had spent 6 hours in the car, with it idling the whole entire time with temps over 100. You are not allowed to leave the parking lot. It was a horrible experience, not to mention the pollution caused by all the cars idling for hours on end.

I guess what I'd prefer, since I didn't get to meet the doc face to face, would be to drop off my dog, go home and wait, while they do what they do and call me when my pet is ready to go home. Something needs to change or we will not be coming back.

I cant say enough great things about West Vet! I brought my pug puppy in because he accidentally ingested some medication that I dropped on the ground. He was literally tweaking like a person you see on the news for bath salts. I went into full panic mode, crying and praying that he would be ok. As soon as I got to the ER, they made me feel at ease and didnt shame me; something you would expect in a FB comments section I did end up waiting for over 4 hours but I could careless, I would have waited 1037272 more to make sure my puppy was ok!

They get a lot of crap for the waiting times but with the influx of people moving here and pets that were purchased/adopted cause of Covid, its totally understandable. I was especially impressed with how they handled a situation where they had to put down a dog. people were crying, kids were sobbing; I started tearing up! Sigh. Anyways, I recommend West Vet. I got my best friend back and he is back to his grunty, fat happy self! Thank you West Vet!

Brought our boy here Saturday morning after he went into anaphylactic shock from a bee sting. They were prompt on getting him in and keeping us updated. The staff is excellent and you can tell they are not trying to nickel and dime you for care. They even refunded us money (they give you a low/high estimate) and sent us home with all after care. 10/10 would recommend.

We were traveling through Idaho from out of state with our beloved dog Coach. Unfortunately during the course of our trip Coach took a turn for the worst (he was being treated by our home vet for a prostate issue). We took Coach to West Vet. They were very thorough and communicated with us through the whole process. The professionalism and knowledge of the staff is impeccable. Sadly we had to say goodbye to Coach during his visit to West Vet.

But not before we spoke with no less than four specialists regarding Coach's situation. The compassion of the team at West Vet was second to none. They treated Coach and my husband and I with dignity and respect during this impossible time. I sincerely hope that if you are reading this review your pets prognosis is not as dire at Coach's. But no matter what your beloved pets situation is rest assured they are in good hands at West Vet.

Start to finish the best specialty vets in the Treasure Valley. They are so compassionate and go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and understand fully the options for your pets. They are also reasonably priced as far as vet medical goes.

WestVet is wonderful. I've been taking my 13 y/o Jack Russell/Beagle mix to them for an ulcer issue in her eyes for nearly a year now, and they have always treated her and me excellently. I'm writing this review from their parking lot on Christmas Eve, where I am waiting for her to be seen for an emergency ulcer rupture. They had no open appointments until mid-January, but managed to squeeze my girl in today so she wont have to suffer for over three weeks.

We rushed from an hour away and they took her in immediately even though they're fully booked, down one ophthalmologist, and it's a holiday. This is a wonderful practice full of caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable people. I can't recommend them enough.

If I could choose 0 stars for a rating I would. The only reason we came to West Vet is because our vet said they're the only "specialty" vet in the area that can perform surgery. I understand the whole Covid situation is effecting most businesses, but I have now run out of patience. Our dog had surgery here a couple of months ago so we have weekly appointments for them to check on his progress.

I cannot begin to tell you how many hours we have sat in this parking lot waiting. Waiting literally 6-8 hours when we have an appointment! Why even make the appointment? Tonight we brought our pup into "Emergency" because he has an open wound that's bleeding and his bone is protruding out of his leg. What a joke! We're sitting in the parking lot (again) and were just told that there will be a 6 hour wait.

The ONLY reason this place is still open is because they're the only game in town! They're disorganized, they don't communicate with one another inside, and they don't respect anyone's time. They know you have no other choice so it doesn't matter how they treat you. I can't help but wonder how they're treating our dog in there while we're sitting out here.

Once he is healed from his surgery, I will leave this place and never look back! Oh, and I forgot to mention the thousands of dollars they've made off of us and everyone else waiting out here! Update: I wrote this review last night while waiting in their parking lot to have our dog "checked in". I will give them this.the time they quoted us was spot on.

We were there for 6 hours and 9 minutes. Got home at 4:00 this morning. I hate to leave a poor review because the doctors have all been wonderful. But if the wait has been this long for this many months, as a business owner wouldn't you want to fix the issue? Not just for your paying customers, but for all the poor animals that you supposedly care so much about.

Our dog Eli chewed into a bottle of anti-inflammatory pills meant for another one of our dogs. They were flavored to make them easier to take, so Eli gobbled them down. We administered hydrogen peroxide to induce vomiting at we sped to WestVet at about 8 p.m. on a Saturday night. They took Eli, administered charcoal and got him to vomit some more.

The pills dissolve very quickly, so out of the 10 half-pills he likely ingested only one came out whole. There was a danger of kidney failure and permanent damage, so they kept him a couple of days and kept a close eye on him before clearing Eli to return home. Everyone, from the front desk clerks to the veterinarians that treated Eli to the other caregivers, were all friendly and caring. We couldn't have asked for better care.
