Services
At ECFA, when removing an eye we use silicone prosthetic implants to achieve a very natural and aesthetically pleasing result. The third eyelid houses the nictitins gland which is responsible for a portion of tear production. Dr. da Costa performs a procedure to place the third eyelid back into it's natural position.
An ophthalmologist has advanced training and equipment for complicated diseases of the eye. For these same reasons, your family doctor would refer you to an ophthalmologist if you had a serious ocular disease. A veterinary ophthalmologist is trained an additional 3 years beyond 4 years in veterinary school.

The Ophthalmologist at Eye Center For Animals Inc. are talented and caring. They really are wonderful surgeons who are reasonably priced for their level of expertise. It is a busy practice for a reason! My 14 year old Beagle Pekingese mix had a quite large tumor removed from her eye. They saved the eye and she sees fine out of it! I can't say enough about this awesome practice! They are specialist who really know about your pets eyes!

Dr. Da Costa saved my dogs eye. My dog had chronic dry eye that we were never aware of until he got a cut with a terrible infection that needed surgery. Dr. Da Costa fixed the cut with a graft but my dogs eye wasn't producing enough tears and the cut wasn't healing properly. Dr. Da Costa did a parotid duct transposition surgery to use the saliva gland on the eye.
My glad I did it because before the surgery my dog would get one or two eye cuts a year and it's been 3 years since the surgery and NO cuts since. No dry eye issues either. Dr. Da Costa provided the best service and really cared about helping my dog. He went well beyond any vet I've ever met. Thank you!

We brought our rescue Rocco to see Dr De Costa today. We took Rocco in due to a fairly quickly white cloud/shadow showing up on his right eye. And our personal vet recommended him. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Their office is setup very well and it's comfortable. They have magazines and animal TV. Dr De Costa is very knowledgeable in his field, he took his time and he ran multiple test to diagnose Rocco properly.
Once the test were over the dr described every thing until we understood, had no more questions and we had a plan to help Rocco. We left feeling very satisfied and at ease with picking Dr De Costa to treat our Rocco. Thank you!

This was the second time that I utilized the services of this facility. I was extremely pleased with the courteous staff, ability to ask questions and explanations of finances and any medical terms that was not understood. My pet had surgery and as usual I was worried but I was put at ease with a phone call as well as consultation with the doctor after the procedure. I give this facility a positive recommendation for eye care for animals and medical procedures.

Dr. DaCosta and his staff offer the best specialty vet care in New Orleans. My dog needed cataract surgery to restore his vision. There was some unforseen eye pressure issues after the surgery. Dr. Da Costa worked with me for weeks to see me and my dog through all the ups and downs. He was constantly researching different drugs to help and discussing options. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone whose pet needs an optometrist.
